Looks a good spec for the money, I think this is the older version without slip diffs and less waterproof, but you can get uprated parts.

Looks like a good deal. What makes you think it is the old version?

Later in the results you see an almost identical one but it's about £200+, it has a different model number that when you Google it goes on about waterproofing and slip diffs etc. Also the ESC? or Radio cover looks different (no wire coming out of the top)

Great deal. One of the questions in the Q&A section states that this is the FS-53910 model which has the brushed motor. Only the version with the US plug is currently in stock though.

if it has 2 batteries, one will be for transmitter, one for car

Just get a nitro car. A proper rc car.

Nitro just sounds good, brushless electric can't be matched for speed and torque. Same with the Tesla situation, a tesla p100d can outperform supercars

I picked up a second hand (£100) one that had been upgraded. Something about brushless, suspension and diffs. I don't really know about them, I just bought it for me and my kids to have some fun with...
It's very quick and hard for the kids to control. They are getting better at it and love every moment.
You will need a few more batteries to make it worth while taking out.
Like I did say, I don't know much about these so this is more of a comment from a noob

Is this just a case of buying a US to UK adapter? And could someone advise if Gearbest are reputable please.

I bought my current phone from them and more than happy with the service. Even when I had an issue the support was great albeit a message a day so not particularly quick.

Looks good. i assume remote control unit comes with this?
BAD company to order from.
They spend ages processing orders and then when they do send them out you're even lucky if you receive it.
My first order never turned up and I mistakenly decided to try them again, wish I hadn't, because a week after placing the order its still processing.

Bullocks. I've ordered plenty of stuff from them and never had a problem, everything is tracked. Pay with PayPal if you're worried about stuff not turning up.
Granted you don't get a realistic guarantee but I'm happy for that given the brilliant prices, and not had a 'quality' issue with anything I've bought. (Phones, torches, RC models).

I have grave digger from tyco, its 1:6 scale but without transmitter or battery, honestly i can't even test if it works. What should i do to it ? How much should i sell it for if worth anything

7 May 17#27
I ordered twice from them without a problem, but then on the third time they sent me a DOA item. When raising this with them they offered me just 10% of the value of the item to just go away. After raising a case with Paypal, I finally go the original cost refunded (5 months later!) and this was minus the cost of sending it back to China recorded delivery. Everything that people say about Gearbest is true. Do yourself a favour and avoid them.

Mines arrived, seems the charger has gone pop already :disappointed: got warm when charging the battery which is the norm I think unplugged it and put the other battery on overnight and its stone cold and showing 4.8V as is the charger output, it does come with 2 batteries for the car, one is a 3600mah and the other a plane one with nothing on it at all. Will buy a cheapish charger off amazon or similar to see whats what. The car itself seems pretty decent quality for the money and certainly good enough for my sons birthday

16 May 17#29
Got mine too, though possibly the charger is duff too because the car struggles to move or steer despite being on charge for a day.
Great car though so am gonna persevere.

mine arrived yesterday. likewise the charger on mine seems to be faulty but I've bought a better one from Amazon along with a lipo battery. hopefully will be good now. car otherwise looks great and appears well built.

18 May 17#31
I didn't realise you could put a lipo battery in, can you show what you bought?
and to charge it I bought an IMAX b6. I'm just waiting for some deans connectors to come tomorrow so I can try my lipo battery. on the ESC there's a jumper to set it up for a lipo battery so just be sure to change that and should run great.

18 May 17#33
The issue with the supplied charger is that it's 120V, so when it receives 240V it doesn't like it and outputs 4.8V. No Biggie as it's only a trickle charger and Gearbest gave me a couple of dollars back.
For now until I get some proper dual channel charger/discharger with display I've just bought a SkyRC eN3 one.
Overall I'm, err I mean the Son, is very happy indeed with it.

Will do tomorrow, look on YouTube (something like Aussie RC) there's some dude who's put a 4s Lipo setup in, looks a bit too wild for me (flips over with the power) but another video shows 3d and looks great.
Bradmax57
18 May 17#35
Ah I never thought of the 120v bit, but even so mine was on over night and nothing in the battery at all
Bradmax57
18 May 17#36
quick question, on the lipo batteries why are there two leads? I'm guessing some adapter needed to connect to the car but wonder what the other is for?
rmax1 to Bradmax57
19 May 17#37
the other one is for charging. it lets the charger check voltages of individual cells and keep them all balanced.
Bradmax57
24 May 17#38
Any idea on what mAh rating I should be getting?
rmax1
25 May 17#39
higher the mah the longer the car runs so I went for the 5200 which makes it go for about half an hour.
Roger_Irrelevant to rmax1
25 May 17#40
Think my next purchase is this brushless motor and 60A ESC combo for it:
Same here, I'm not getting any charge from the charger at all. Totally dead. From the comments I'm assuming I just buy another charger (240V) for the supplied batteries?
Roger_Irrelevant
26 May 17#42
If you open a ticket with GB, send a pic and explain, they'll offer you a $2 refund. Not great but it's only a trickle (overnight) charger anyway and you are getting a lot of car and kit for the money, so overall still a great buy.

So I complained about the charger not working they offered me a replacement battery lol, so I happily accepted

just upgraded mine to brushless motor and it is rapid now. I had to buy a new pinion gear though as the grub screw rounded when I tried to remove it. I went up a couple of teeth in size and had to get a 32t pitch pinion made by Schumacher models. if anyone else upgrades to brushless and struggles with the pinion
I thought this may be worth sharing as I struggled finding any info online about which pinion gear to buy.

Nice one, which motor/ESC did you go for, I did get a new (steel) pinion as saw advice the brass one isn't the best.
I did make a new bash plate out of 3mm aluminium for the front of mine as was worried a full frontal impact would damage the front steering/suspension. Good job as I managed to stove it after the new plate was fitted and it bent it right back! Did it's job though and soon fixed again.

wacked in a more powerful s2 battery and it really does fly.
plastics really good so durable.

takes a beating, its 1/12 but imo well worth it, it cocks a front wheel up on acceleration also, and power difts, check the vids. a more powerful battery for £8 just makes this serious fun.
even has a 540 motor same as he hornet mentioned below.
