This is an August/September family holiday (based on 2A and 2C) to Miami/Orlando. You leave Manchester on 19/08 and leave Miami on 04/09 - I think this may be the day after the kids get back but I know some schools have a teacher training day on the Monday. It won't suit everyone as there is some driving involved on this itinerary but the flights are very cheap and I'll keep out of the debate about flight prices in school holidays and kids missing time in school!
19-21 August
You fly from Manchester to Miami, with a short stop in London, which is standard when flying with British Airways. In Miami airport you will pick up the hire car (this itinerary is based on an intermediate hire car which should be big enough to accommodate a family plus luggage, although cheaper can be found for a smaller car). You will stay near Miami Beach in the Hotel Collins. This is centrally located and has good reviews compared with others in the area and is near the beach too, ideal for the 2 nights in Miami.
21 August - 1 September
You will drive to Orlando today, leisurely stopping off as there is no rush, and I'd suggest stopping off at the Kennedy Space Centre which is in the direction you are heading as well as beaches around the keys, there are lots of options and you could add in other stops if you wanted to reduce the driving time. In Orlando there are places to stay from £25 a night up to a few hundred £. I've picked the Buena Vista Suites as a mid-range hotel on the basis that the reviews suggest that these apartments are large with plenty of space and you also get breakfast included which for a family of 4 saves a fair bit of money. It is close to Disney and has decent reviews. You could spend less, depending on your budget but I think this is a good choice. If you wanted to save some cash then for less there are others but I'd feel confident recommending this one based on the ratings and reviews and I'd only recommend something I'd stay in myself and some cheaper places had dire reviews and after walking round Disney I think you'd be glad of somewhere comfortable, with space and free of bed bugs! Obviously any park passes are extra cost.
1-4 September
After leaving Orlando you will drive back towards Miami and for the final 3 nights you will stay at the Fairways in the Everglades. After theme parks and Disney I think this is a great way to end the trip but the drive is around 4hrs but you can stop off or add in other stops if you wish. The Fairways has great reviews and this rate also includes breakfast so again, it's great value with kids. Your flight doesn't leave until later on the final day so plenty of time to do the hour and half journey back to the airport.
The details:
Book flights on Travel Trolley (with British Airways) - £1056.64 (I know some people will say they have had bad experience of booking with these but I've always had cashback track and I've booked flights to Jordan and Cuba in the last two months and it's been fine). http://www.traveltrolley.co.uk

'we could'.... but surely that's the whole point of hukd...no one has to post deals..but they do so thinking they are helping others. plenty of other people find deals online and post them....and even if this person makes £££ out of each deal they post then so what...if it's a bargain then it's a bargain, regardless of who else benefits.....or maybe, just maybe she's a kind person with more enthusiasm for holiday hunting than most and enjoys sharing a bargain.

I have mentioned driving in my initial post and I know this won't suit everyone because it does involve some driving, but you can add more stops in as a halfway point if you wish. Those sound like great bargain flight prices, you were very lucky to get those. It sounds like you've done Orlando before and it would be great for you to share some tips if there are better ideas.
A work colleague just returned from a similar itinerary to what I posted, flying into Miami as oppose to Orlando over Easter with her two kids as it was so much cheaper and drove straight to Orlando from Miami after landing! I've seen lots of posts on Tripadvisor and LP forums about flying into Miami and driving to Orlando and it seems to be very common with people looking for cheaper flight prices.

Coming from the man who has NEVER posted a deal in nine years membership but goes to the trouble of having an avatar is really quite funny :smirk:
This is not a good deal by the way. Someone who suggests driving for four hours to then spend what's left of it going around Kennedy Space Centre before another two hour journey to their hotel clearly hasn't a clue about arranging a holiday itinerary, just Google day trip from Miami to KSC.
Then there's that drive towards Miami after the parks. That's a five hour drive that is actually furtherthan Miami, but don't let facts get in the way. I've done Miami Orlando as such, only because I was fortunate enough to get £103 return flights through family ties and if I hadn't I would never have done it nor would I recommend it.
And they have the cheek to be called travel expert.

my point is this site is meant to be for hot deals, this post is for a trip that someone has put together.
what part of it is a hot deal? certainly not the hotel or car hire as they are standard prices.
therefore stick to posting the hot part of the deal, i.e. the flights! !

To be honest you just need to focus on the flights as you can always find accommodation, although the cost may be a little higher as you'll be looking at two bedroom or bigger rooms.

Its taken me 50 years to get there so it should be great. The teenage son is convinced that he will 'supersize' all food offered. We might make it to 'Manchester by the Sea' - seems a jolly place to spend a day.

I'm off to New York/Washington and Boston in the summer, First time visit to the states - using a HUKD of course. Any tips on how to save money when you are there ie USA Vouchercloud etc. I would be grateful for any tips. We are on a fly drive and the accommodation is already booked so its mainly regarding days out and eating.

Look at things like city card passes for entrance to museums etc if thats the kind of thing you want to do. Price it up and see if its worth it. You can pay in advance so its another thing sorted before you go. Used in NY and LA and other European cities and they have worked out well for me and the stuff I wanted to do. Google away!
We did a very similar railroad trip in 2016 to the cities you mention plus Philadelphia and Williamsburgh. We had been to New York & Boston before, be we were blown away by Washington. It was the highlight of our trip and so wished we had more than our 4 days. there. ALL museums are free but if you have time to spare do the Aviation museum without a doubt. My husband was keener than I, but after visiting it, I changed my opinion. We spent the better part of a day there and could have spent longer but time was marching on. There is so much to see, but if children on are the agenda, don't miss the Zoo (also free). Washington is on our bucket list to go back and spend more time there. If there was a downside to our trip, overall it was the cost of eating out as we too were room only and it soon mounts up. Coffees and sodas are about the same price as major towns here in the UK. If you enjoy this trip half as much as we did, it will be an amazing experience. We are doing the self same trip this year replacing the States with Canada

OK deal but getting a bit sick of seeing all these deals being put together by "rachelandgromit"

we could all scour the Internet for hours and come up with these deals (or better).

Miami is soooooooo expensive, everywhere adds an automatic 18% tip on the check and FL sales tax on top (the resort fee at hotels have 3 taxes added!).
You'll be glad to leave after 3 days, and paying to feed 4, thank goodness for McD's.

Without wishing to sound rude, I've been on these exact dates every year for the last Twelve years and have only had one days ruined by poor weather. Not a gamble on these dates at all in my experience. Obviously - being a tropical climate expect a bit more rain than May/June but its not something that would affect my decision making process. This is a bargain for the flights alone.
