Bloomin' heck, ended up buying one.
Paid for insurance, but standard delivery.
Seems like a good screen for the price, but battery is poor and some headphone hiss at low volume. Can cope with both of those for 2k screen at about £89!

Good price, I ordered one just the other day for £93.
High points for this tab are build quality, that excellent screen and stock Android 6 with no bloatware or manufacturer overlays

This is a fantastic tablet - bought one a couple of months back for a similar price and it's been great. Screen is superb!

Thanks for the previous help. I've never ordered from Gearbest before.
This is from HK, what about taxes and import charges?

got this for £73 last time it was on offer, great tablet but just didn't find the use for it so sold it for £75 'as new' lol but definitely worth anything under £100

Gearbest are pretty good at drop shipping to another European country and sending it from there to avoid taxes. That seems to be what has happened with most high price electrical items I get from them.
Pity they skimped on putting a GPS into this tablet, it would have sealed the deal.

I got this tablet for £93 recently. As mentioned, great built quality and screen but poor battery life. Mine came with a Chinese ROM with no Google Play installed but it's easy to flash to a US ROM from 5-fnf.com. Netflix won't load due to being region specific but just sideload the apk. Stock android is so smooth.
Most iPad 4 mini cases fit but not perfectly. They're just slightly too big but stay on. I've had a hardback case which eventually snapped at the corners. I'm now on a silicone case which is better as you can cut your own holes for the SD card slot and headphone jack.
For a sub £100 tablet it cannot be beaten. Expect 3 weeks at least for delivery and tracking is pretty bad with Seychelles Post. Once it hits the UK it's usually delivered in a couple of days through Royal Mail. I opted for normal delivery and didn't get hit with taxes.

how long does the battery last?

From reading/watching reviews, seems to be about 2 hrs gaming on full brightness, 4ish hrs with films/browsing on full brightness. More if you lower brightness.

thats quite a decent catch, i am looking for a 10 inch with a 2k screen would prefer a keyboard attachment and maybe a dual boot, anything like that floating around from the UK?. I have seen some in gearbest type websites but to be honest I won't be spending that kind of money from China. I did once.. never again.

thank you for the suggestion but I'm unfamiliar with remix os and I don't think the cherrytrail CPU is very capable

Remix is a skinned version of Android, its good. As far as getting something other than cherrytrail, your budget will have to rise, and or get something refurbished/secondhand.

Mine too. Upgraded to the latest firmware, and first impressions are positive.
Screen is beautiful, speakers ok, stock android which is a big plus, dreadful cameras. Battery life seems OK, better than expected. Snappy performance. Haven't tried headphones yet.
Excellent value for a media tablet for use at home.
Was kind of tempted by a mi pad 3 too, but this will probably suffice.
Anyone ordered a case? Or found one?

How do you upgrade the firmware ?
richstroller
4 Jun 17#38
Download the new firmware from here on a pc: http://en.5-fnf.com/rom/index?id=25
The download contains instructions. Unzip the new firmware, run the update program, put the tablet into bootloader mode, and the update installs. Instructions are ok, but not in the best English.

Any more comments on real world battery life? This is really tempting, but the reports of very poor battery life are putting me off. Has anyone seem much improvement after turning off "Always use GPU for 2D rendering"?
richstroller
6 Jun 17#40
To be honest it isn't that bad.
I've been using it off and on today, to listen to music (Bluetooth headphones, because hiss on headphone socket is quite bad), and some web surfing/social media, and battery is at 70%. Screen has probably been on about 2/3rds brightness, but that's plenty indoors.
Only just turned off gpu for 2D rendering, so can't comment on its effect yet.
I'll probably charge it most nights, and would want a battery pack if I took it for a journey, but for the money it is an outstanding tablet.
Now at 69%.

sounds like a decent buy!.
however headphone hiss would make this a deal breaker for me. I have Bluetooth headphones but they would drain fully well before the tablet would in my case.

What are the benefits of upgrading firmware? Mine came today but I use a Mac so won't be able to update just yet.
Tablet looks good so far, got one of the cases mentioned above that seems to fit fine.
Is there a maximum size micro sd it will take?

What shipping method did people use? I'm not going for expedited shipping with DHL, so options are: 1) Flat rate - Netherlands Post 2) Standard Shipping - Bristish Priority Mail
Also, what about shipping insurance? Useful or worthless?
