had an odd one this morning - somebody bought a £50 item from me & paid for it but Ebay cancelled it - I went on Chat & it seems somebody hacked into this a/c, bought my item using somebody else's money & altered the address, so I'm sitting on the money waiting for the real owner to ask for a refund
vassy4u
7 May 171#52
No Maccy. It's not worth listing at all. Waste of time.. :disappointed:
vassy4u
7 May 171#53
Good you didn't dispatch the item and eBay has cancelled it. You are safe. Imagine eBay cancelling it after dispatch. eBay will not support you. You will have to complain to police etc. I guess automatically money goes back to buyer as the order has been cancelled?
luvsadealdealdeal
7 May 171#54
I feel a bit sorry for the real a/c holder as currently he is £50 down & probably doesn't realise it, Ebay told me not to contact him or refund him until I get the dispute notification

Don't worry it ll be handled by eBay. I have had similar experience. I was happy I never dispatched it.

Can't help thinking eBay have shot themselves in the foot with these offers now. To start with it probably got a load of private sellers to list expensive-ish stuff they've had sat around (did with me), but now I ONLY list expensive-ish stuff when there's an offer like £1 max sales!
It probably resulted in a short term boost for eBay, but now it's become the norm to have these offers and people are reluctant to go back to paying 10% fees and instead just wait for the offers!

corred1964
8 May 17#134
If you get non payers you simply follow the unpaid case procedure, closing the case after 4 days for a fee credit
Neither of you can then leave feedback.....but the buyer receives an unpaid strike on their account.......that is much more damaging than any feedback you could leave as if you set your seller blocks correctly any buyer with 2 or more unpaid strikes in 12 months can be stopped from bidding or buying........so yes eBay does do something if sellers use the tools provided to them !!

I've never "bought" something on Ebay in my life and not paid for it,why would you,it baffles me
The ones that really annoy me are the ones that don't even have the courtesy to tell you that they don't want it even when you message them they ignore you so you can't relist it in case they do pay for it,so frustrating :disappointed:

Not if you set your account correctly to block bidders without a linked Paypal account or registered credit card .....that stops people who set up multiple accounts and/or list as fixed price buy now requiring immediate payment

8 May 17#140
There's always ways around things, you make it sound like as soon as a buyer doesn't pay for a few things they never come back to Ebay

Listed a camera BIN £295.00
Guy bought it
But received the following message last night...
Hi I have been having problems with my computer and don't know how but it's showing that I ordered a camera, this is not the case and I wish to cancel this order.
Regards Brianh7357
Yeah right...
Question is, if I relist it will I still only pay the £1.00 fvf?
Thanks for any help
Chanchi32
12 May 171#142
If you relist, you won't get the £1 fvf - would be the standard 10% ebay fee
wait until sunday to see if there are any new offers
deb8z
12 May 171#143

zermattbusby
12 May 171#146
Hi debz / Chanchi - sorry for the late reply and many thanks for answering
No he's not paid
So he's now going to cost me an extra 9% fvf (assuming the 1% doesn't show on Sunday)
Plus anyone seeing it before will wonder why its been relisted and probably steer clear
Just wish ebay would provide a sure fire way of teaching these people a lesson
