Decent price for a full HD laptpop. But is it really a laptop, or a tablet with a detachable keyboard?

I think if you want a laptop, buy a laptop, this would be too much of a compramise. If you want a tablet but a proper keyboard/windows would be useful sometimes, this is perfect.

It's not really a tablet either, it's quite an odd machine as the tablet part has almost no ports - only a charger port and a headphone port, no USB ports nor a card reader which combined with the size limits its use as a tablet. As a laptop it's not well balanced so it tips back very easily and the hinge doesn't go that far back either.
That said, I actually really like the machine - I got a high spec one cheap off the outlet which I bought out of curiosity, I really like the keyboard, there's no heat on the underside (unlike a lot of ultrabooks these days), there's no fans/vents and the screen is decent, I like 1080p since you can use it without scaling. While it's not great in its tablet form, it's still handy for showing pictures or videos and use it as a photoframe at work using a Dell dock.

see if you can buy the stylus and see what features it has... my one has a wacom type stylus ( it's dell branded so can't tell you the exact tech) proper stylus cost around 20-40 quid depending on the tech inside, mine was around 40 quid but worth it.

Hot, full HD, usb3, ssd, finger print reader. Presumably there's an on screen keyboard if it's detached. Probably thicker than the same size laptop. If it doesn't come with a pen, then personally I'd get a decent one.

No it is inferior compared to that model by a long way. Whilst this isn't too bad a price, it is still quite a bit more than the Asus t300chi that was available from Very a year ago which had the same spec. I find detachable laptops, tablets or whatever they are really frustrating. I will never buy another one no matter how cheap they go. After owning two detachables I have now found that 2 in 1's with 360 degree hinges are much superior. I now have the Asus TP300 flip running an i7 which suits my need perfect and I can have the screen at any angle I want unlike most detachables and the tent position is useful for watching videos.

I have the ASus t300chi version of this , seems to be almost the same except smaller screen.(12.5) I never use it in tablet mode, I have it plugged into mains all the time,
I find the CPU a tad underpowered, and I would prefer Win7 over w10 but no vents or fans, so noise free...
I got a pen with mine but Fuknows what I'm supposed to do with it ...windows ink? wassat?

I was the same with mine. It was never ever a tablet in the 8 months that I had mine. Detachables seem pointless to me in windows 10. It changes format which is a nice touch but personally I don't see the point of them. They possibly did it to try and steer people away from multiple devices but didn't work for me. The t300chi was a very nice build but I felt that at some point I would break either the hinge mechanism or the screen so I sold it. A quality piece of kit for what I paid from Very and got more for it than I paid which was sweet.

I have the T100 Chi and do use it in tablet mode and think it's great but it's 10" so this at 13" might be too heavy for practical use as a tablet? The reviews look good for the model with decent battery life and it's a lot more powerful than the T100 so tempted to upgrade.

They also have the Dell Venue 7140 in stock, it's basically the same machine as this with a 10.8 inch screen and more ports and card reader on the screen portion of the device. I recently picked up one myself (although not from MCS).

I've got the M-5Y71c processor version with 8Gb of Ram. Very quick machines. Bargain.
Also bought this spec of machine from MCS and it got stuck on a Windows 10 install (was Win 8.1). Return and replacement was quick and no hassle.

I would go (in future) for a larger screen 35cms and a better processor, but the lite weight is great, the macsbooks look good, but they are apple, and +++bux .
Asus arent bad, they commiserated bigly with me online, when the keyboard wouldn't pair (wot a POS that pairing process is, badly explained and badly implemented, keyboard was almost going to be attached to piece of wood and used as hi-tec cricket bat)

Ha, the asus bluetooth keyboard. A real pain when re-installing windows as it needs the driver to run it. I had a few problems with my t300chi. Straight out of the box mine wouldn't pair and on the two further times I re-installed windows it wouldn't pair either. I found the best solution was to re-install the driver and go to add a device in settings and then press the power button on the keyboard so windows could find it. Never had a problem with it automatically switching the keyboard on after turning it off and back on again. I didn't like the chi. It was my second detachable and I won't be buying another at any price. It's each to their own obviously but for me and basic surfing android tablets are so much faster to start up and with a simple OS they are very user friendly. I find 360 degree hinge laptop gives better options as it's not only has a laptop function, tablet too, which to me is pretty pointless in windows, but with the added feature of having the screen at any angle.
