Bought this yesterday with the £50 off £500 voucher VERY are offering this weekend. Use LNKCN to get price
Been looking for a decent touchscreen around £500 and this has all the best elements - could not find an equivalent. Argos have the HP Pavillion for £499 this weekend but that is i3 and 128 SSD.
For an extra £50 I think this is a decent bit of kit.
Hope it helps someone

One thing to remember with Very if you plan on using the Buy Now Pay Later feature is that delivery charge isn't counted in that. So, if weren't planning on paying anything off for 6 months you'd still need to pay the delivery charge in the first month to stop interest accumulating on that - if you don't pay it, it also means you've technically missed a payment.
For the record, I have no issues with Very other than their slightly shoddy customer service when something goes wrong, but a bit of persistence sorts that out pretty quickly

Would John Lewis price match?

Mine is 7th Gen. The 2nd from right number denotes the CPU gen; e.g. 5368 is 6th Gen, 5378 is 7th Gen.
I've got one of these, great machine. I never use the backlight for the keyboard though!
Got mine from John Lewis for £600 with a free three year warranty so hopefully not too much interaction with Dell themselves.
Criticisms:
No dedicated Home, End, Page Up or Page Down keys;
Mouse buttons are integrated into the touch pad and I really like them to be separate.
"Intelligent" headphone socket is a real pain in the ****.

Get a USB 'sound card'. About £5 on Amazon. It will give you proper audio ports.
Well, not officially. Dell and crucial will tell you 16gb but I don't see any reason why this wont support 16gb modules.
Anyone care to correct me on this?

Don't take this the wrong way but how ?? I'm not a computer whizz am am looking to buy this myself.
If I can get 32gb out if it that would seal the deal.
Just where to get it from ? Very or pay £50 extra at John Lewis for a 3 year guarantee

Agreed. Can anyone confirm it's 7th Gen, not 6th generation?

Can anyone advise if this laptop is the same as the Dell Inspiron 13 5378? Spec wise they basically look the same...?
Whats the warranty at Very like? Would you pay £554 for brand new or £519 for Refurbished like new via ebay?

Yes I see it only has option to deliver to a home or designated address.
It's 7th generation i5 so will be quite nippy. Passmark of 4706 on cpubenchmark.net. If you google the EAN number you will get the full specs from PC World Business website

I wish it did that as would have taken up the option. Nope. Only deliver to home address.

ps. Price includes the £3.99 delivery (which is totally ridiculous when spending over £500!)

In think if you select to collect from a collect+ point delivery is free. I selected this when buying a TV and didn't pay a delivery charge.

I got one of these for £475 from the Dell Outlet as a certified refurb. Unfortunately it was faulty and it was a right faff returning it to Dell. When it did work it was really nippy, although the trackpad wasn't the greatest. Hot from me for the price though for a new one.

Got this laptop on the dell Black Friday deal and it's awesome. Looks great, has a good solid feel to it. Super quick, takes 20 seconds to power it up to the windows screen. Can't say enough good things about this laptop.

If your budget won't quite stretch to this, Currys/PC World and John Lewis have a lesser-spec version (i3, 4Gb, 126Gb) for £499. JL give a three year warranty.

No you're wrong, there's many Dell models that don't have backlit keyboards. I know this because I work as an IT refurbisher and we see loads of different laptops. The laptop in this deal is very nicely constructed and has a good design, one of my favourites at the moment.

Standard laptop processor, not a rebranded Atom derivative, It should handle whatever you want to do fine.

just a word of warning beware of Dell products, cheap made and terrible service, they try to get out of warranty obligation and ALL customer service/tech support is based in indian call centres. check out trust pilot first https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.dell.co.uk

Have to agree. Bought one from PC World last weekend and I'm delighted with it. Speedy, responsive machine that feels reassuringly solid despite the absence of a metal chassis or unibody. Screen is bright and clear. It does feel a little 'chunky' in tablet mode but otherwise the 2-in-1 functionality works well.

When I looked at that offer it still charged delivery....but it did give 10% off so made it £543

Try code LGAJY for 10% off. This maybe account specific so may not work, but brings the cost with delivery down to £543.98 for me

There are two ram slots and yes, some people have put in 32gb without a problem. YMMV according to BIOS version: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19999401
