I'm really late to this party....... apologies but just in case someone else happens upon this.... Did you try the powerline function that's built into your two Sky Q boxes?

I have a 24 mtr cat6 cable going from my router upstairs to a switch in another room downstairs, and I have rock solid fast connection.

Will these work with TP-LINK powerline adapters? I'm asking because currently i have TP-LINK adopters for a couple of years.

I have gigabit internet and my zyxels give me 160Mbps would this allow me to get higher than that through them?

Does it really matter " speed wise" if I connected one to the extension lead that I use for my TV.

Anyone experience of using these with Chromecast?

Chromecast doesn't have an ethernet port. So useless with these.
Don't forget Quidco @4% ,just bought 3 sets to replace my old 300mbps sets

Sounds pretty good really. I'm almost feeling "where's the catch" as TP-Link and other brand adapters are noticeably more expensive for their gigabit port adapters.

obviously good for getting internet to out of the way places but for wifi you would need to create an access point or WAP. The money saver there is to use an old router ,which can easily be configured

Would these help stop my Internet dropping out occasionally? Nothing worse than steaming something and your Internet just randomly resets itself...
I know this is probably a supplier issue (Talk Talk) but I'll take a quick solution like this before my foot goes through the router...

Anyone tried these with a fibre connection? My current ones don't have a gigabit port so their speeds is noticeably worse than WiFi. I'd like to get a set of 4 with Gigabit speeds that ideally won't drop much performance from my 250 meg connection.

I'm using d-link (WPA8630 so similar from a 1000mbps perspective) with BT fibre.
I was struggling to connect additional sky q box on 4th floor with main box on ground floor - sky tried installing their own sky q wifi extenders on each floor and this was too messy.
I decided to Powerline instead and I get constant 200-300mbps data rate.

Do these work with four gang extensions.

Hot. It's nice to see that the ethernet port is 10/100/1000 gigabit rated. I've seen many plugs that claim 1000mbps over powerline but don't have a gigabit rated port, so speeds are really limited to 100mbps.. silly!
However it is worth noting that you will never get the stated 1000mbps transfer speeds. Straight off the bat you halve the speeds as network companies combine the two plugs speeds, so that's 500mbps max. In reality due to interference and other factors you will get 100-200mbps max and that's if your house has good cabling. Still, you should notice speed increases over slower rated models, and for this price it's a steal.
WARNING: powerline plugs have been stated to cause wireless interference, basically turning your house's cabling into a giant antenna. This can cause disruption with wireless, television and radio signals. More information can be found here: http://www.arrl.org/power-line-noise
Can you mix and match powrerline adaptera? I have some from years ago

Are these compatible with non d-link adapters. I have two Cisco adapers. Can I just plug it in to a power socket for another connection?

Similar question ... I currently have a 500mbps powerline system - can I upgrade portions to 1000mbps and keep the 500 in some places, or do I have to upgrade all to 1000?

So this gives you a wired connection in other room or just a wifi boost

I use a set of basic 200mbps ones at the moment.
I changed to BT 500mbps & they rarely connected. Assumed it was a fault so returned them.
Is it possible my ancient wiring couldn't cope with anything over 200mbps or the higher the better?

I think that's very likely, yes.

The claimed speeds for powerline devices like this are the theoretical maximum speeds of the chips used within the adapters. You will not get the advertised speeds for a number of reasons including the age of your house wiring, the distance between adaptors, electrical noise, mains voltage fluctuations, interference from other devices such as phone chargers, and circuit breakers. There is a good article where the above is taken from on PCAdvisor
