something that doesn't work!. I have a panasonic with freeplay and whilst it works to some extent - iplayer is excellent - it completely fails on 4OD , ITV player and channel 5 player. 4od works fine up until the ads then the programme won't restart. I've tried absolutely everything to fix it to no avail. The other players seem to get so far and stick as well but it is more random. Thank god for iplayer. on the plus side the media player and media server work pretty well so i download the programmes and watch them that way instead

I've got the 50" version and it looks great, not tried anything 4K yet either. There is a YouTube video from a member of the AVFORUMS that shows you he best settings for each mode.
My only disappointment is the lack of support for some MKV format video files. I put a usb stick on with 3-4 films and it only picked up the one which is a shame :disappointed: I read it might be to do with the video file using DTS audio.

Never understand why these sort of TVs have so few HDMI sockets. My old Phillips which I will replace soon is about 8 years old with 4.

The consensus of reviews appears to be this is a standard SDR TV with HDR thrown in which is unusual for the price and is good for future proofing the TV. The downsides are whilst it's good to have HDR for the price the HDR isnt up to the standard of the more expensive HDR ready TV's, which is only to be expected given the TV's price. HDR suffers light leakage and is not as polished as other more expensive sets.
So the choice is to go for a more expensive HDR TV if HDR quality is a must. Go for a better SDR TV and give HDR a miss if HDR isnt your priority. Or you can live with the limitations of having HDR on a budget with an average SDR offering.
The other plus points for this TV are it uses Firefox for the OS, which is generally considered to be preferable and easier to navigate than the other TV manufacturers OS offerings. Free-play is also a a plus point for this TV.

In terms of HDR or 4k.... is this TV going to look sexy when i'm playing Fifa? I know someone with a panasonic who complains of the poor sound. Anyone got any comments about that?

You won't get the full HDR experience simply because of 3 things:
It is edge-lit.
It doesn't have a Wide-Colour-Gamut (WCG).
It is only capable of 350 Nits.
All it is really doing is reading the HDR metadata and doing it's best with what hardware the tv has.
Sound will vary depending on how expensive the TV is - so higher up the ranges will generally give far better audio.

8 bit means nothing in the grand scheme of things at this price range. It simply has to be 10 bit capable so 8 bit with software dithering is perfectly fine ....

Thought I'd comment on this as I've owned this 58" version for about 6 months now. It's absolutely fantastic. I have it connected to my pc and 4k 60fps is beautiful on this TV, just make sure you turn on game mode in the picture settings. I have no experience with the freeview because I use my Nvidia shield for streaming channels. HD channels still look great on this TV considering the size. Any questions just let me know

I've also got the tv and the HDR is fantastic, Netflix quality is top notch, I tried lots of different sets, some 10bit, some 8bit and came back to this.
The brightness although someone said 350nits really hit me that it was so bright and clear is was astounded, def recommend.

Interesting. I too saw a load of over sharpened, over saturated Sammies but then saw an LG, which although on paper was only 450nits looked stunning nonetheless. Yeah although not 1000nits, on a 65" even 450nits looked bright enough! I really have to say I wonder whether this whole 1000 nits 10bit is a little overplayed marketing hype to sell more tellies at 2-3x the price
