BT have been castigated for their free coverage from Uefa, but still went ahead and renewed the deal. This is the least they can do for their terrible free to air coverage

Ignore the spiel, they are legally required in their contract to make the finals free to view.

Not sure if they were required to stream for free online so that's good news but otherwise this is an obligation

So bt sport showcase disappeared on Freeview and replaced with the HD version... ON 115.. So even less ppl can see unless they have hd Freeview.. Shame.

When Sky held the rights (which they did for years) the final also aired on ITV. Ya know... for free.

was about a week ago, gone is the Bt sport showcase SD (freeview 59), a now repalced with BT sport showcase HD (freeview ch 115) which is great for those with tvs with inbuilt freeview HD, but those with only FReeview (especially older people) they will be left without it.. and they are also more likely to not have the know how of streaming something live on youtube etc.

i do still get the BT sport showcase on Virgin.. but only in SD.. was hoping they would give us the HD version like freeview got..

I think that was the point. BT Sport bought the exclusive rights, so it amounts to the same thing really. They only won the deal on the basis that they would do this. Thus hardly showcasing BT Sport's generosity above Sky's as implied.

How often is BT Sport offered to Sky customers at a discount?

BT penalise Sky customers if you don't at least have BT Broadband. It currently costs £28 to add BT Sport channel package on Sky's platform!

As has been mentioned, this is kind of an obligation that UEFA forced upon BT. From what i remember, UEFA only allowed exclusive rights to be sold if the winning bidder allowed the finals to be shown on a free-to-air platform.

Stream it online and/or cast it to your TV. BT Sport is not locked (unlike Sky) for device output to a TV.

Will be cancelling BT Sport as soon as my contract is up. Not much point when so many of the really must see games are free to air.

Not been following it that closely but I think you'll find it's AJAX and not PSV in the EL final. Don't think they have had a great season but Like I said not a big fan of Dutch football.

We have Virgin Media and so get BT Sport included at no extra cost. Cancelled Sky Sports a year ago, and will never pay them another penny. If Virgin start charging for BT Sport, then I'll kiss goodbye to that as well. The amount of money in football now is frankly disgusting. There are plenty of ways to watch for free, but even if there wasn't, I'm not giving up my hard earned cash to line the pockets of a bunch of overpaid footballers. I'd rather keep my money and not watch football.

As of 9th May, the existing service on channel 59 has closed. The replacement, in HD is on channel 115 is only available to Freeview HD viewers in some areas only.

They don't say how you can watch in VR. Looks like it might be a google cardboard style app rather than something compatible with Oculus or Vive

Just open the Youtube app through Sky Q or if you have a Smart TV and watch it in 4k on that.

Are you sure its a Freeview HD tuner and not just freeview, your tv maybe billed as HD but there are a lot that only have a standard freeview tuner inside..

No 4K on the YouTube app for a Sony 2016 TV or the Nvidia Shield. Also the 1080p stream isn't even 50fps.

I have a BT 4k freeview box,cancelled contract 18 months ago and 115 is blocked

People with BT TV not getting a 4k feed ATM. Apparently rugby is on atm. Perhaps 4k goes active when the teams line up in the tunnel.

On the bt sport channel stream it is showing as 'showcase' in the top right, which is their free to view channel, so wouldn't be in 4k anyway? I'm assuming they will have a stream showing their UHD channel?

get yourselves a NowTV Smart box - the YouTube app is streaming fine on the big TV, our humble abode only has about 6 gigs of broadband but it's working great

last year our son swam in the all-England swimming champs which YouTube streamed live from Sheffield - we watched him on the TV/ YT - & I luckily remembered that possibility :smile:

And watch manky UTD playing dross football no thanks.Id rather watch paint dry then those mercenaries of bus parking.
