Fair play, we've had one about eight years, good as gold, but all the docs I've seen in hospitals recently use the forehead or temple ones where they used exclusively use these for a good few years, reasons could be varied though....
Checked feedback for one of the sellers, looks like you're spot on:

I only know because i have a mate who works at hmrc who was telling me about it, apparently they are being targeted this year. Some of them are supposed to be turning over a couple of hundred thousand every year without paying VAT.
Often when things sell out and I really want them they are not much differently priced on eBay (sometimes even cheaper).
Just sharing my experience. If you're a non-prime member it is infact cheaper to buy from eBay due to shipping costs on Amazon. (Although you can top up with add on stuff obviously to avoid postage.)
Obviously you could get a faulty product and have a nightmare returning it, or just a dodgy seller.
Also I find it's a good strategy to stop me buying things I don't need if it's always a similar price elsewhere as I already have a load of stuff that I don't need from HUKD!

You can't do that though surely as your account would get banned pretty quickly.
Also how do they update price in real time as Amazon changes? They would have awful feedback if they kept messing people around and cancelling orders when Amazon sold out and they were caught short (I haven't checked their feedback though to be fair).

On eBay for £17-18 so not the end of the world if they sell out or jack the price up.

All are drop selling through Amazon. As soon as the price goes up on Amazon so do these.

These are worth every penny.
Well made, accurate and reliable.
Not just for small children, suitable for whole family any time peeps aren't feeling too well.
Our doctors use the exact same devices.
This is far superior to other similar devices, I'd say this is not a luxury in any way, it's closer to being an essential.
