Completely agree. I have an perfectly working old one, but can't install anything on it as everything requires IOS7 - even if they 'did' have an IOS6 version available. I now refuse to buy Apple because of this.

I'm assuming an iPod would have better audio hardware than an iPhone for sound quality? or do they use the same chips etc?

I wouldn't have thought so, if Apple did that then I'd imagine it's something they would actively promote.

The iPhone 5s is second hand. The iPod is new.
It depends what you are buying it for I guess. For me I would prefer my kids to have a new iPod with a fresh battery and without the functionality of a phone.
Still love my iPod Touch, use it everyday as a music player and my only iOs device.

I've been using my 5th gen for years, mainly for iplayer radio and audiobooks and it's still going strong, great bit of kit, slim and light.
I bought an iPhone SE today and it seems massively clunky in comparison.

My daughter loves hers. Didn't want her to have full blown phone but she can still snap chat and I message on it.
It will be supported for few years yet I'm sure.

I don't think they're bringing out any more iPods after this, your better off getting a phone.these are becoming dated.

Ipod touch really is a bit of a classic, and I'd buy a couple for the kids if only Apple didn't keep abandoning their older products. With 6th gen coming up to 2 years old this summer you'll be lucky to get 12 months use out of this before updates (or lack of) take their toll.
Having said that, it is cheap!

Aside from the fact that the 5s is a phone, which people looking to buy an IPod clearly don't want, I notice you didn't post a link to the 5s at the same price? :man:
