I think you should learn how to type first.

Due to the offers Dell had on the other week you could have picked up the i7 and 16gig version for £870
I had one and took it back due to issues with the screen :disappointed:

1050 should probably run it, honestly build a stand alone PC if you really want to guarantee that.

You would be better investing a bit more and going with a GTX 1060 machine.

To be fair as long as the i5 doesn't throttle too much, a 1050 is more than reasonable for everything at decent setting at 1080p right now and probably a couple years down the line.

How much better would an XPS 15 be than this

XPS 15 isnt really for gaming, you would have to spend a pretty penny to get onbaord nvidia graphics to start with..

Decent gaming laptop for the price. You should be able to run all games at 1080p after fiddling with the settings as needed.

I'd also suggest you'd have spent about £400 too much if that's all your looking for

? Most XPS 15 models I have seen came with a 960 or a 1050 depending on generation and aren't a great deal much more than this
The screen is utterly awful. Not just bad, but the cheapest of the cheap. Viewing angles are so bad, that you get colout shift looking at it straight on.
Even relatively modest laptops come with IPS screens now. No excuse.

Pretty sure this model's screen is actually terrible. In the USA they replaced the displays used but in the UK it doesnt look to be that way

The XPS 15 9560 with the 1050 and an i7 currently starts at £978.43 for a refurb with the 15% code.
Or for £1,117.18 you get 16GB and 512GB PCIe SSD.

Really decent laptop as people have said the screen is not that good but seriously don't let it put you off you can easily replace it with an ips panel that's what I did with mine cost me £50.

Could you please let us know the model number(s) of these replacement panel(s)? It would be very helpful thank you.

If you camp out the Outlet you can get the same model for £550. But obviously it's a bit harder to get hold of. Voting hot anyway cos it's a decent machine
I'm looking at these laptops for the last few weeks on the outlet. I'm guessing the outlet models will have the bad screens as older stock etc...
would love to know the replacement screen details too!

Replacement screen recommendation
B156HTN05.2
dreamcat4

Thanks Nutkin. Aparrently (from what i can glean) the B156HTN05.2 is supposed to be a 120Hz TN panel that is G-Sync-capable. Costing approximately #50GBP. Do you agree?
Now this is where it gets interesting... the G-Sync. Because that is essentially some form of FreeSync implementation over the eDP port. Meaning there may be no special 'G-Sync' module (which would otherwise also be missing from this laptop). However NVIDIA protects this with some form of DRM. As per other forum commentary elsewehere on the interwebs. We have this little gem:
"
By the way, you are not going to have G-Sync on your Inspiron 15 7000 series notebook. G-Sync requires several specific things to function. While you are buying a G-Sync certified panel, you are missing the signed G-Sync "cookie" for your dGPU and panel p/n in the BIOS, do not have a G-Sync compatible dGPU (correct PCI ID and vBIOS) matching the "cookie," and do not have a direct connect between the dGPU eDP output to the panel."
So there is that to also consider. Perhaps (if anyone else can do this  also give an IPS panel model number. As an alternative for those who want to avoid TN, and get an IPS instead (despite lower refresh rate).
And if anyone knows which Dell Model number(s) are TN, and which are for IPS revision. That we could determine what we are buying. If a screen replacement is even necessary anymore after product revision(s). That would also ineed be very helpful too. Many thanks.
