John Lewis has this phone listed for £199.95, but they price match the Sainsbury's phone website. Better retailer and 2 years warranty
I received my email yesterday:
Thank you for your price match request for the Alcatel Idol 4 Smartphone, Android, 5.2", 4G, SIM Free, 16GB
I have looked into your request and will be happy to match the price of £99.00 for the Alcatel Idol 4 Black (product code 83301503) seen at PHONE SHOP BY SAINSBURYS

I tried JL Price match with Sainburys phone last week. They refused with the below statement;
"Software has been installed onto the device at Sainsbury's that will lock the phone to the network of the first SIM used. This means that if a customer were to purchase the phone and, for example, first use a Vodafone SIM and then change to an o2 SIM, this second SIM would not work. SIM Free phones sold by John Lewis, do not have this software installed and as such remain unlocked forever.
Therefore, on this occasion I am sorry I cannot match the price offered by Sainsbury's. "

I filled in their price match form. I put The Sainsbury's phone shop as the cheaper seller.
This is the rest of the email:
To place this order with us please visit our website. When you have received your items and are satisfied with your purchase, please let me know by return email. Please also respond with your CASE number and your order number.Once you contact us to confirm that you are happy with your goods, we will process your refund and you will see this in your account within five working days. So I have to pay their price at first (199.95), but they refund the difference later. Final price will be £99. Try to fill in the form first rather than calling them , I got my reply pretty quickly.

I bought one of these on 26.4 for £129 and John Lewis agreed to refund another £30 as the price dropped again to £99. I'm going to get another for my partner. I'm sorry some people couldn't get this deal. Maybe they try to price match not a sim free version or they get a not very friendly JL staff .There so many B&M deals on HUKD which get really hot although I never can find them in my local stores and my deal is cancelled straightaway.
Another reply from JL:
Thanks for your further price match request for the Alcatel Idol 4 Smartphone.
I’ve looked into your request and will gladly match the price of £99.00 for this item seen at Sainsbury's. To reflect this, I’ve credited your payment card with £30.00; please allow up to five working days for this amount to show on your account statement.
In the meantime should you have any further queries or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the Never Knowingly Undersold team again by responding to this email.

As far as I know AliExpress is still best for the Note 4 - with regards to the correct model just search note 4 global. As long as it is the Note 4 Global, not the 4X Global, it will have Band 20 support.
If I had to use one as my daily driver I'd pick the note 4 for it's battery life.

You should complain because that is a blatant lie. The phone is SIM Free, you should send a print screen of the page in question.
In any case I got my price match confirmed, including the option to buy upto 10 devices. So clearly JL has some good reps as well as some really awful ones. They act as if it's their own money they are giving away. This is what I hate about JL's NKU policy. If you get a good rep its great get a crappy rep (at least 50% of the time its a shoddy rep) and you are given some lame crappy excuse not to price match.
tpol
19 May 17#48
Another blatant lie by a JL rep. Of course they match online prices, the only stipulation is that the business in question must also have a 'bricks and mortar' presence. They want their competitor to be 'like for like', so they will not match Amazon for example.
There are some really crappy JL reps who talks out of their lower posterior sometimes.

19 May 171#49
Hi
This is a common problem with JL if you pay using PayPal, especially if you haven't had an account for long and haven't used a credit card on the account. When the see a large transaction using PayPal their ant-fraud kicks in. The system is flawed, they should verify some other way, including maybe calling you.
Anyway, like someone has suggested, give customer services a call. Good luck.

The Sainsburys SIM free bit - can anyone confirm if JL are correct and that the Sainsburys bought handset locks to the first SIM? That to me is false advertising and a reason to go through the hassle with JL.

19 May 17#55
I checked with Sainburys phone, below was the response; I can confirm the handset will lock to the first sim card used.
The phone is SIM free because it is not supplied locked to a network.
It is the case with the majority of handsets now that they will lock to the first network inserted.
If you wish to subsequently switch networks, you would need to speak directly to the network with regards to unlocking the handset.
