You know advertising has gone too far when it equates "BE(ING) MORE DEMANDING" to a battery charger.

Anyone know how to use this to show battery capacity? Just had some eneloops delivered and interested to see how much charge they came with.

Still waiting for mine after 7 days, is that why they are called 7dayshop?<3

Mine arrived in 4 days. If they dispatched it on the same day or next day it should have arrived by now.
I'm sure that must be the case. Most of the copies do use random Chinese brand names, was all I meant.
The differences I see are -
1) Overall it's slightly larger and batteries have more room to breath, less issues with overheating, although 200mA charging on the 7dayshop has never been an issue.
2) It can charge many batteries that the 7dayshop ones say are dead/null. I have never had to bump charge a battery for the Technoline.
Apart from that, I think the only difference is the build quality, on the outside that's sturdier, soft touch vs cheap hard plastic, I don't know about internal build differences, there must be some as it definitely performs differently.

Technoline must be also made in China. What features does it have that the 7dayshop doesn't?

Bargain, I paid £32 for this a few years ago from Amazon (Technoline branding).

The Technoline is a better charger. I've had both and it's obviously that the 7dayshop is a cheap copy (same as all the other chinese branded ones). This is a good product, especially for less than £13, but the Technoline is significantly better in both build and features.

Gone back up to £17.99. Quite annoying as I put it my basket at £12.89, was shopping for other items at 7dayshop and the price went up by the time i had checked out. Not happy.

if you missed out they are selling it in eBay for slightly more at £13.99 delivered
Anyone already got one of these and managed to get it to charge AAA batteries? The green Activ Energy+ rechargeable batteries I got from Aldi just don't seem to charge with it. Can't figure out if it's the charger (though AA do charge ok) or the batteries. Can't say it seems to fit the AAA's I have very well.

The Multi Smart 2000 is quite a bit more basic than the DS-SC1000 as it doesn't have test or refresh functions. If you want something more similar that does li-ion then go for the Multi Smart 3000. It's out of stock on their site but you can see the description here
It has a test function which I have found really useful. If you have a set of batteries, and one is much lower capacity, then they will appear to run out quite quickly. Using this feature I have grouped my batteries into sets of similar capacity, and gone from charging every week or two, to now lasting two months or more! (The 3000 still doesn't have a refresh mode, but it seems you can't have everything.)

I find (with this charger) if it can't see the battery, leave it sat in the bay long enough and it will.. Got some ridiculous battery powered things which will run the batteries into the ground eg <0.4v, but sooner or later the charger figures it out and starts charging..

Thanks. I know slower is better I just wasn't sure how far was safe to push it without doing any real harm. I think I'll usually stick to 200 but there are the occasions when I get caught out with none charged and a remote or game controller dies and I want them done faster. I'll avoid 700 though it doesn't sound healthy. Although I guess for once in a blue moon if you really needed them quickly. It wouldn't be an option if it was so terrible for them it could never ever be used.

Definitely. The principle to follow is to charge them as slowly as you can get away with. Heat kills NiMH cells.

I charge mine at 200 or 500 if I'm in a rush. I never use 700 as the batteries get really hot and this can't be good for them long term.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a charger with really really good end of charge detection? My AccuPower IQ328 seems to miss the end of charge detection far too often and has fried a few batteries. :disappointed:

Just a fraction of a second is good enough to briefly raise the terminal open circuit voltage -- just get it straight in the charger within a few seconds. That way you don't risk damaging or wasting the charge of the charged battery.

I'm torn between the known excellence of this deal charger DS-SC1000 and 7DayShop's close relative the Multi-Smart 2000. Just 70p more, does Li-ion, 18650s etc, but the display looks a little less sophisticated, and maybe the performance is too? Help me decide.
Come to think, I sometimes charge C and D cells too, anyone know of something as good as this DS-SC1000 that could also handle those?

From what I could tell from reviews at the time it was one of the best chargers for eneloops. There were half a dozen or so different ones all from the manufacturer but this one is basically a trickle charge. I've got 5+ YO Eneloops working as well as the day I got them. The downside is it can't charge single batteries, only pairs and it is not always convenient to wait for 10+ hours for them to charge.
Spectral

What setting on this should be used for AA and AAA eneloops? I have the old school official sanyo eneloop charger but it takes 10h+ to charge AA's. I'm presuming this is much faster?

Chargers made by manufacturers that make and sell batteries should not be trusted IMO. It's not in their interest to make batteries last as long as possible (which is what this smart charger does).

You don't need a dumb charger to start a completely drained battery - only need another battery with some charge and two paperclips.
Connect them like this for a 20-30 seconds and you're good to go

Any recommendations on a cheap dumb charger to compliment this. I bought some enelopps on a good deal a few weeks back so haven't got a recharger yet.
Was going to get this smart charger based on reviews but it seems i'll need an additional one for the reason you mentioned (doesn't seem very smart to me!)

You only need to put the offending battery in a normal charger for seconds and that will put a tiny bit of charge into it, enabling the smart charger to "see" it. It's when they lose all of their charge, the charger can't see them, I keep an old charger for the same reason.

Any recommendations for something that will charge torch batteries too (18650s mainly) and also run off 12v? Seen a few on amazon but have no idea what I'm looking for!
Good charger I have one always on standby. I also use the usb port to power another the Xtar VC4 as it doesnt come with a psu just a usb lead and use a powered mains usb plug
tek-monkey

Thanks for that. Its for a caravan, to run off the solar panels, so ideally I need a 12v input to avoid messing about. I just saw the VP4 version does just that.

Yep I use eneloops, but it does depend on want you are using them for, I use mine for standby torches etc that get infrequent use, eneloops hold their charge for up to 5 years, so handy if you are in the middle of nowhere and need a torch etc that you know will work.....for regular daily use I would prob go with something a bit cheaper , but not anything dirt cheap......
And I have this exact charger and it works fine most times but every now and again it seems not to recognise a battery and no amount of swapping it around cures it , but have found that if I put the offending battery in my old uniross charger and then swap it back it works fine...weird ...

Depends how much you value your batteries, really. The basic chargers will fry them. This one will gently caress them into a much longer life. Your batteries will be happier and healthier, and you'll soon recoup the cost. Also much quicker and easier to charge your batteries - particularly in ones or threes.
