I think there that price for a reason . I knew a couple who bought a 42" Polaroid a few years ago from Asda and it went back pronto . The picture quality was apalling. They may have improved in the last 3 or 4 years though.

I had a 50" Polaroid a few years back and the picture quality was amazing. Viewing angles were spot on. Could see the picture from all angles. Cost £289 I think so this is a bargain.

Polaroid TVs are generally badly reviewed for reliability on here. The many previous Asda Polaroid TV deals have various comments about failures just outside warranty... however, that is a bargain price and I would risk it myself if I saw one. HOT.

Polaroid could never be hot. Poor quality components on par with Bush and Techwood. Better off buying a real TV, Panasonic, Sony, Samsung. Not even for £195 could a Polaroid be a bargain.

Cracking price for TV this side. I do tend to suffer from brand snobbery at times but saw one of these mounted in a house last month and was stunned by picture quality. Can`t really go wrong at that price.

I've always bought 'name' TVs until I got one of these on a whim just after Xmas. Perfectly good TV for the money, amazing really. It's only really used for the kids and consoles but it's great for playing stuff like split screen local COD matches.
Watched a few blu rays on it and it seems as good as most things from before the last few years. Don't expect any of the fancy upscaling technology stuff costing £1000+ has but it's perfectly usable. Don't listen to idiots talk about blurry pixels and the like, it has no problems, it just doesn't look 'as good' as something you're paying over £800 for. For £200 it's a no-brainer.
The only criticism I have is I can't get the Sky remote working on it. Any codes?

Based on what evidence? It's not a cheap set of drill bits or spanners made of chocolate. I've had a Sony that packed in before I'd had it 3 months. The only reason I didn't have to buy twice was because of a warranty. Same will apply with one of these.

These same old worn out phrases get wheeled out every time there is a cheap TV deal that isn't one of the big brands (which are far from infallible too). Couldn't be less true either as any new TV will be covered for at least a year regardless of brand, so you wouldn't have to buy another one for at least the first year regardless of how many times it failed (not saying it even would). Consumer legislation means in reality you could probably argue for at least some compensation, if not a full replacement, even if it failed in year two or three.
Plus budget brands are getting a lot better now that LCD in general is a pretty mature tech now and hence the better screens are filtering down even into budget sets. Big name sets are more about getting extra smart features, faster internal CPU etc, which might be nice, but the smart choice financially is to get a cheap tv without bells and whistles and just get a separate streamer box, games console or set top box for your entertainment needs....

I have a polaroid TV, it's not the main TV but it's perfectly adequate - picture quality is OK.
It's also getting on a bit now but been 100% reliable.

I got the Sharp offer at Tesco and it is made by UMC. The picture is fine and the audio is much better than I'd expect for this price point. Modern value line TVs like this Polariod have amazingly good Picture Quality as the LCD back lights and reflectors are now all very good. The reliability is also now very high due to the scale at which these production lines run. The old problems with tuners, power supplies etc have all but gone as the move to digital and low power LCDs drives price down and quality up. I've a 50 Kuro and custom AV setup with active speakers and subs costing £ks which is fine for a dedicated AV room but for most other uses these entry level TVs are just wonderfully crisp and bright. Colour rendition is better than many high end units sold 3-4 years ago. Contrast levels are great for daylight viewing. For controlled AV rooms you might want to look elsewhere but for daylight viewing with poor / no light control (e.g. Kitchen / Conservatory) these units are hard to beat. As Loughboro Guy says these are great until OLEDs become commoditised as they have in the smartphone market where LCDs now cost more than OLED!
