19 May 17 #23
Only problem with that code is that it is a credit to your account, not an instant discount.

This means that if they did not specifically send you 6TFTK then they will just claim it back off you, or not bother applying it at all.
derp1664
19 May 17 #24
Pay by paypal. I "got away with" using a credit only code on a non-credit account multiple times. They can't take more from PayPal after the initial transaction and the discount is applied prior to that.
meherenow
19 May 17 #25
No, read what I said again, this will not work with the 6TFTK code as it is a credit to your account - so if you pay with PayPal then you will be charged £103.98 and then later on the supposed £20 credit with be applied to your account - although it won't if you haven't specifically been sent the code.

I agree this will work with the LAMJA code as this is a discount voucher - but then I have tried that on our 3 accounts we have to no avail. The 6TFTK works, but I'm not going to risk it - esp when you can get a scratched box one (probably brand new) from Amazon Warehouse for £92 odd.

No use if you already have an account (or 3 and I'm not setting up a 4th).

Not bad. Better and cheaper than buying a refurbished unit even if its Very. Pay over 3 payments too with Take 3
derp1664
19 May 17 #28
They have so many codes out at one time it's hard to keep up. But I assure you, if you pay by PayPal they only take the discounted amount, there is no 'pay full amount and get refunded' that is only when you pay by card. I have done it many times and only ever get charged discounted amount to paypal. Some codes are credit accounts only though yeah that's true but there's usually half a dozen different ones out in the wild at any one time

6TFTK worked fine 2 minutes ago
meherenow
20 May 17 #30
OK, I stand corrected - I just went through the pay in full checkout and it does take it off.

However, I'd be concerned they will chase me up for using a code that wasn't issued to me (it's in their T&C as clear as day).

You're right, they can't take anything extra off the PayPal, but I'd rather keep my account open - they are pretty bad overall (and I had a big issue with them over the PS4 debacle last year - although I won that battle), but I did get a rather nice 12" iPad Pro with 20% off recently. You don't see those deals elsewhere that's for sure.
derp1664
20 May 17 1 #31
I've had several unbeatable deals from them just in the last few months alone. I have multiple accounts with them and never had any problems with codes, credit or otherwise. You can always downgrade your credit account to a regular one again if you're concerned about a charge at a later date. I can only speak from personal experience and I've saved hundreds with them and had no problems, although ofc I understand everyone else's experiences may differ.

Doubt it. It seems the Amazon product page shows the 2TB or less version but from the descriptions and reviews of this (you have to filter the reviews for this size and model as Amazon just lump everything together) it seems the drive is at least 15mm (and certainly not 7mm) as it is listed as 20.8mm.

The product is designed to be portable, therefore it may get thrown into a bag and carried from one place to another. If one wants to use this model daily, the poor flimsy casing will not stand up to everyday activities. I sent mine back as the case started to come apart after just one week, once you get yours, you will know exactly what I mean.

I have no BNPL option, but do have the option to upgrade my account and Take 3, that would open a credit account so I assume that would work as well. I was very tempted to buy one of these when the deal was first posted but two things put me off. The first is the 3.5" version of this drive has been delivered faulty (failing SeaTools tests) more times than it has been delivered working, just this march I ordered one (lightening deal - similar price) and after two replacements which were also faulty, I was refunded. In short, run SeaTools on this drive!

The second reason is because I'm not sure how Very handles returns, even with Amazon being friendly it was annoying having to return drives. I wouldn't want to be chasing up replacements/refunds ect.

It seems there aren't many deals on hard drives :disappointed:. I've been waiting since late February for a deal, at the time I wanted two 5TB + drives (would settle for 4TB+) and now I need four of them. I even signed up to the Western Digital store news letter hoping I would be sent a discount .

The point I think people are trying to make is that you said you bought 6x 3TB drives for £28 each. You then said that was 9TB for £84. However that would be only 3 drives, if you bought 6 drives, you have 18TB for £168.
Newbold
20 May 17 #63
Opened a new account, but neither code works. £30 off offer from them if I upgrade existing account to a credit account, but that's likely to create more problems than it's worth.

I see that now. Sorry.
SENNYO1
20 May 17 1 #65
Now having read through that again I see the point you are making.
Shame the point wasn't made clear from outset.
So maybe You should have bought this Book instead
nige182
20 May 17 #66
True but bad wording nonetheless. Either no need to mention buying 6 and just say that that deal was the equivalent of 9TB for £84, or saying they got 6 but saying that is 9TB for £84, twice. Indicating that the comparison is being made on price but that he doubled up on the larger TB to pound purchase.

Either way, not knowing about that deal, other questions come to mind, was it external and 2.5"?

derp1664
20 May 17 #72
I think that's probably correct yeah. There are definitely some codes for new credit accounts which will likely beat the ones here. They will be listed under the 'New customer offer' section of the Very homepage

EDIT: Actually just checked they only have a 10% off first order code listed there
LCFQN should work fine though yeah

Not really - but you may need to open a new credit account, and use code LCFQN. That will get you £30 off (several posts above to confirm this) the £99.99 price and you can then repay the credit account quite easily from a card to clear it. £69.99 + postage, with some cashback on top. Good deal while it lasts.

Yeah, seems good value per terabyte and no negatives vs the internal.

I've got the 2TB model already which I've been using for over a year on the Xbox One. I'll be moving this 2TB over to the PS4 Pro, considering just making it an internal drive.

The new 4TB I intend to pair with the upcoming Xbox Scorpio - standard Xbox One S in the mean time. I'm assuming like the Xbox Elite this will have a 1TB non-removable SSHD, so I'll use the 4TB external for everything by default, but move the most frequently played games to the internal SSHD for any small loading gains.

This really works with promotion code LCFQN but you have to create a credit account. I chose to pay in one go so no need to pay in three months (I hate that). Tried to upload a screenshot but I can´t.

BTW, when I wrote the code, I was told I was going to be charged for the full order and, then, get a 30 GBP refund but I can´t see that in my ´Balance from last statement´, line user Newbold, just above. This deal is plainly still working for a lot of us. Mods: please reinstate.
derp1664
21 May 17 #139
And how hard is it to grasp that 862 heat means it helped a lot more people than it hindered?! Wow.

Clearly you have nothing better to do because you are still replying on an expired deal which you didn't even order.

21 May 17 #140
Ah, I see! It doesn't matter how many people's time it wasted as long as it randomly worked for you and some others.

I am trying to help other people avoid wasting their tme as mine has been. Again, another simple concept you seem incapable of grasping.
derp1664
21 May 17 1 #141
You are so concerned with others wasting their time, be it the seconds it takes to enter a discount code, that you are willing to spend countless hours commenting on an expired thread  Well aren't you the modern day Robin Hood, a real everyman's hero.

As I said already, try taking your complaint somewhere that could actually do something about it; like Very or report it to HUKD mods, see where that gets you.

"Some others" lol you really are so salty
derp1664
21 May 17 1 #142
Oh, and while you're at it.. since you care so much about saving others time.. why not put some of this energy you're wasting crying here and find some deals to post yourself so you can actually help people instead of making snide comments on deals others have taken the time to post.

Thanks OP for posting this deal. While the code you mentioned did not work for me, fortunately one of the others posted in the comments did the job.

Good news as it indicates they had stock in the first place, took payment anyway when I bought this on Friday night.
Not much progress shown on Very's Recent Orders and Tracking info. (its been the weekend) but shows Delivery by Tuesday. Looks like they'll be busy over the next few days.
Thanks OP.

Ordered 3 of these separately and received phonecall from Very asking why I needed so many and if I was going to order more, felt like saying none of your business but explained that I had 2 grandchildren with xboxes and I wanted 1 for system backup, they seem to have accepted explanation.
brilly
22 May 17 #150
wow... if only you had explained 'properly' at the start and just missed out the irrelevant fact and said it was a direct comparison of cost per tb (noone needs to know how many you bought)

cos it is a direct comparison isnt it?

imagine the stupidity of a person comparing a single usb powered portable drive of 4tb with multiple desktop drives and power supply! (as we are doing equivalents thats one and a third of them... we will call that two for practicality)

you wouldnt have been stupid enough to compare this portable drive with desktop drives in this thread would you?
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/toshiba-canvio-desk-drive-3tb-28-asda-telford-2693504

not having gone to university and learned about such things....

by all means just ignore this and concentrate on my grammar/punctuation
id rather think and make a relevant point than the nonsense you have posted in this thread with 'good grammerz'

btw...
should be punctuation at the end of 'cold' - perhaps a full stop or exclamation mark depending on your level of excitement
you should state how many drives you got for £28 unless you specify it was 'each'
it should be TB not tb
asda should be capitalised
usage of 'pound' rather than pounds is rather loose and its a bit sloppy to mix usage of the pound sign with the actual word but i will let it pass
you also failed to explain it was an actual comparison
you also failed to explain it was not a relevant comparison

Do I seriously have to apply for a credit card just to get a £20 discount when others reportedly didn't have to? Sounds rather shady
Newbold
22 May 17 #154
To get the £30 discount (code above) you need to apply for a credit account (not a credit card). One of the other codes may get you a £20 discount without the need for a credit account.

23 May 17 #160
Thanks for that. Just checked my tracking and it's out for delivery. I wish more companies would use Royal Mail - more reliable than the rest, and if we're out we can rely 100% on the postman to leave it somewhere sensible (and to sign for it if he has to!).
