Hi all, does anyone know if Tesco are still doing the referral scheme? The link to the form no longer works. I do have a copy of the form (used it before) but it'll be pointless uploading it if they have ended the scheme!

spotted the other day that the referral form wasn't there, wouldn't be surprised if they had ended it

So last month I discovered a cock up on behalf of Tesco bank. They charged me £80.09 interest on an interest free balance transfer I've had for months. They refunded it to my credit card but not back to my bank. I was compensated £25 to my bank accout but still out of pocket to the tune if £50 for the month. Just had my latest statement and they are about to charge me £77.67 interest this month on the interest free balance transfer amount. Apparently this is for last month before they corrected the error made when they were supposed to reinstate the balance transfer interst free facility. Why was this not adjusted when they reinstated the balance transfer? Instead they are going to take £77.67 which once taken they can't refund back to my bank and leave me £77.67 short for living on again. This is appalling. It's abuse of the direct debit. The amount is incorrect and I've just been told as it's been generated it can't be adjusted on the bill. So although it will be refunded and come off my credit card bill I won't get it back in my bank so I'm force to make a higher payment than I should be which puts me in a mess for the second time. If that direct debit amount isn't corrected and is taken I will be making a very loud complaint. They are helping themselves to my hard earned money without my permission. Just spoke to the 24 hour customer services who of course can't help me so at the end of a long night shift I have to stay up to call operations finance. I am livid Tesco bank for goodness sake get it sorted and stop taking large amounts you aren't entitled to from my bank ultimately forcing me to use a credit card to buy food and incur interest on that use. Items I would have been buying with money taken incorrectly from my bank account. I've been put through unbelievable stress over this. I took the direct debit option to avoid mistakes with payment thus avoiding stress as I have a health condition where stress has a severe effect on me physically. Here I am stressed to the eyeballs and in severe pain thanks to the very thing I put in place to avoid stress. £77.67 is a lot of money to me as I'm sure it is most people.

Right I'm with you so the 60 days is to cover them after the 0% promotional period has ended and if you continue to use the card after that period

So if purchases are made and the minimum payment is made the 0% interest will be intact for the whole promotional period? I've just received one of sainsburys 0% purchase cards and on the terms it state's (if anyone can confirm or am I reading this wrong?) that on the individual purchase's that amount needs to be settled with 60 days otherwise it start's to accrue interest regardless of any promotional 0% ??

So I gather from this : http://www.moneysupermarket.com/credit-cards/purchases
That the stated 60 days is the generic blurb for "pay before this day or the interest rates apply"
In these cards case the interest applied is 0% for the initial 30 months
(Sorry, probably pretty obvious to anyone who's ever had one)

Tesco's also had a similar statement and I too would like to know what that means?
If I put £6k on it today and paid it off over the 30 months (£200pm) would I have to pay any interest?

I'd highly recommend this deal, even if you're not in debt.
We used it to buy a mobile phone which would have been £27.50 on a monthly contract for 2 years. We bought the phone upfront and got a competitive sim only deal, initially with giffgaff then plusnet, did the balance transfer to the Tesco Credit Card and saved £6 pm = £144 saving in total.
edit: just to add that the online banking site for this card is minimalistic, so it's great if you just like a no-frills, uncomplicated way of managing your card.

Damn shame you can't transfer the balance of a loan to these 0% credit cards,

Sorry, I'm new to how credit cards work with these deals
If I got enough credit etc... I could in theory buy a £5k kitchen on this and pay £250 (Is minimum payment 5%?) a month over a couple of years until it was paid off and not pay any interest?

You are interest free 30 months. You just need to pay in monthly min amount. But it's up to the bank to either offer you a 5k or just 2k limit on the card.
Yes. Paying the min or more each month. Well paying it off quick or spreading it for 18 months is upto you. Each person would be provided with a max credit limit that the bank would offer based on their credit history.

Yeah so like whatever you use it for you only pay that exact amount back within the 18 months as long as your paying the minimum or more each time? I just wanted to make a purchase and pay it off quick hence the 5 month example haha

Hey i'm new to credit cards, I was accepted by this one but only interest free for 18 months (poor student bank account management). Does this mean, say I bought something for £500 and spread this across 5 months at £100 each that would be all I paid, with no interest? Just the initial £500? Sorry if this is a dumb question, all the examples seem to add amounts on. Any help would be great :-) thanks!

No you can still keep using the card and keep repaying. You are interest free for 18months. Make sure you pay the min every month.

If your having very good credit history they grant you more money as 5k

Sorry, didn't read it correctly. Shame as they used to. Mine has just paid out from 6 months ago.

Minimum payment on a properly managed account would be the greater of 1% of the statement balance or £25.
