That analogy does not work, many people use laptops plugged in all the time.

It clearly states on the listing in big red letters:
Laptop is brand new but it only works when charger is plugged in !
please consider this before buying !
laptop is fully working, brand new retail return, but must be plugged in at all the times.
3 months warranty ! (laptop only)
New battery can be purchased from one of below links:

No offence but I always chuckle at these posts. Its like buying a cordless phone but not being able to leave the room.
Also, don't you mean it needs the adapter plugged in rather than the battery?

Bought one from one of the previous listings, brilliant for the money.
Added an SSD that I had spare into the free slot.

ive reported it to ebay for listing violations. Its not new used, its not working, for spares or parts as it has a known fault and you have to buy parts to make it work the way it should.

Brilliant little machine for £60. Touch screen is great at this price. Battery can be fixed cheap by replacing faulty cells. Or just use mains.

One aspect of many, yes. Doesn't mean it worthless when plugged in. I don't even remember the last time I used a laptop away from AC. Each to their own.

No it is not defective, the battery (a consumable part) is defective. It's not even the fact you reported it, it's the fact that you are defending it to the death as if you're the peoples' champion, just keep it to yourself next time; you're not helping anyone and no-one is going to thank you for it. Unless maybe they bought it without realising the battery doesn't work in which case they only have themselves to blame for reading as far as 'new' and nothing else (which in fairness does seem to account for a large chunk of the eBay user base)...

I've noticed that they do a 14" with 64GB at £159.99 - brand new with working battery - is that worth the money?
sam_of_london

You can even buy external laptop battery pack on Amazon /eBay and run it from there. Same like carrying external battery pack for mobile phone but more expensive and bit heavy. But this solution is not laptop specific so battery can be used with any laptop not just this one.

I am honestly wondering why they don't sell it as brand new with no battery but I suspect that is a disposal thing. At least that way they would avoid the backlash from people who can't read on eBay or those who want to pick a fight for the sake of it...

just got mine, seems brand new. havent checked the battery yet but seeing as it is removable, fitting a replacement should be easy enough.
only small issue is 1 dead pixel but seeing as its going to be connected to the TV, no biggie

Received my two today. Looked brand new and not a mark on them. Updated Win 10 easy enough and the mSata SSD makes it quick enough to use.
Had a spare 500gb HDD so added that to one as file storage. The other is for the kids to use and learn on (with OneDrive so no storage issues).
Really can't argue with performance and features (touchscreen!) and a Windows 10 key for £60. Even the track pad is decent and very useable. The solid build, non-flexing plastic, surprised me.

What a cracking little machine this is...
Quick question - Is there anyway to start it up remotely with lid shut? Plan is to connect it permanently to the TV but obviously don't want to have to keep opening it to switch it on
Cheers

I've been running Office on mine and using it for browsing and it's been fine. I have it in clamshell mode hooked up to the Phillips 23.6 IPS monitor from eBuyer that was on here a few days ago. For £150, it's a decent setup. Granted I already had an external keyboard and mouse.

Does anyone know and hopefully actually tried connecting a 1440p or 4k monitor to it ? I've tried to find the resolution specs but I had no luck getting a definitive answer. Thanks in advance for any help.

Mmm me to mines central just below the webcam. I was just wondering if others had theirs in the same place as may of been a known fault on a batch also. Still seems to be common. It's a shame but this was only bought as a very cheap make do that can be downgraded to a media box equivalent later on. Much better than wasting £3-400 on a budget laptop when you really want something higher spec, while saving ect.:sunglasses:

yeah they're built to a budget so you sort of expect little niggled - if i return it i guess they dont have any other stock, and it seems theres no guarentees anyway. for £60 its a fine media PC and ive even got it as a server now with an internal drive finally working

I've been looking for office but doesn't seem cheap enough anywhere. My compromise here is buying a monitor but I've been struggling to find out if this dirt cheap £60 machine can take a 2k or 4k display at full resolution. :man:
Gunner4Life
24 Apr 17#59
I have to agree because it was £60 and not 2 or 3 tines as much. I know a working replacement battery would make it a £100 ish machine. I think I can live with it as well no replacement seems possible. If I'd paid £150 or so I think it be going back though. However I never would of bought it at that price. It simply was cheap enough with no battery to have a good temp use for now and then to be downgraded in the future to a great media PC or other use.
I'm not in tune with server use and how it works but I can't see how one can fit a internal drive in it so am guessing that is something else I'm not sure on. :innocent:
