Apologies for posting another great beer currently on offer at M & S instore promotion of buy 3 get 4th free, but Westmalle Trappist Dubbel is a world class beer and at 4 for £6.60, £1.65 each it is a bargain.

I prefer the Westmalle Tripel... But the Dubbel is worth drinking too, especially at this price! :innocent:

Also does good! A beer with the hexagonal Trappist mark has to meet certain criteria, one of which is that a percentage of the profits have to be spent (and audited) on social projects out in the community around the monastery. Sort of Fairtrade scheme, before Fairtrade was invented.

There's a rumour I heard from a normally reliable source that the Cistercian monks in the Trappist monastery in Leicestershire sent one of their number on secondment to one of the Trappist brewing monasteries, with a view to learning the craft and starting a brewery when he comes back.
