You can signup for Windscribe free vpn service then use the Promo code '50GBFREE' to get 50gb free per month indefinitely.
It's just I've been on here long enough to see various companies fold pretty quickly after amazing offers.
Dialaphone, loads of those free Sim card companies, etc etc.
I suppose I'm just very wary of offers like this.

Any experts on here......doesn`t this mean the people running the service can see what you type in? Can`t help feel that leave s you open to giving away personal details?

How many simultaneous connections does this offer? Looking to put a VPN on 4 firesticks. My router doesn't support vpn which is a shame

Can you not just put a VPN on your main PC and that will then VPN the firesticks? Do The firesticks themselves have to have the VPN installed on them. I have 4 FS too.

Really? According to Tiger's website, their service is from 64 locations in 43 countries, yet this offer (with no mention in Tiger's website) is limited to "15 nodes in 11 countries". Also the description within the androidcentral link makes no mention of number of active sessions afaict, while the one (for identical price) at stacksocial does, and it is ONE!
I personally wouldn't jump into it without knowing more. There is nothing more frustrating than a stuttering media stream.

For 2017. Kaspersky has added a virtual private network (VPN) service to Internet Security and Total Security. It lets you use up to 200MB of data daily; an unlimited plan costs $25 a year and lets you use 20 connection locations worldwide, from Canada to the Czech Republic.

You need to use a router and set vpn settings in it to protect everything. Other than that each device will need the software
Noeldude
16 Apr 17#21
I don't believe it's possible to run a vpn natively on a fire stick with its locked down version of Android. You'd have to enable the VPN at the router as had been mentioned and connect the fire sticks to that.
Plenty of routers about that support ddwrt or Tomato firmware which can both handle openvpn
djdope
16 Apr 17#22
I think that's correct for the fire stick but it can be run on the fire tv box
Noeldude
16 Apr 17#23
I'm sure you're right mate. Don't have a fire TV. Much easier anyway to set the VPN at router level then forget about it rather than messing about with clients on every device on the network.

Yes, if you are on Windows 10 (with the Anniversary update or the new/upcoming Creator update) without needing additional software, by using your laptop (configured with VPN) e.g. as a wifi hotspot. It will tied up the pc of course, but pc's can generally deliver faster VPN streams, than typical routers, because they have considerably more powerful cpu's for AES encryption.
Indeed a typical way to "bypass" the "number of device" limit is to implement VPN on a router which can serve a number/variety of devices. But you might not be able to stream multiple HD content concurrently, unless the raw feed from your ISP is fast enough and the router (configured for VPN) is powerful enough. Not all routers can be (easily) configured for VPN.

so can this be set at a router?
If set on a PC, must it be set by running an app, or can you simply enter your proxy info into IE etc settings?
1. Do you keep ANY logs which would allow you to match an IP-address and a time stamp to a user of your service? If so, exactly what information do you hold and for how long?
1. Since hundreds of people share the same IP, our accounting data (start time – end time, & generated Traffic) does not allow any further breakdown. We save those records for 3 days (in line with our 3 day money back guarantee) and only keep the traffic per month value until the next billing cycle starts.
2. Under what jurisdiction(s) does your company operate?
2. Tiger At Work is a Limited Liability Company with operation in Slovakia.
3. What tools are used to monitor and mitigate abuse of your service?
3. We don’t use any tools for monitoring or mitigation.
4. Do you use any external email providers (e.g. Google Apps) or support tools ( e.g Live support, Zendesk) that hold information provided by users?
4. We use Freshdesk as Support Software, however no data is stored in that 3rd party app as it’s a read only tool for us. E.g. when a customer submits a ticket via our App we reply and he gets that message within the app. The only thing stored in the “cloud” is the conversation itself. We aim to keep all data inhouse, which is what we did for hardware, software and infrastructure.
5. In the event you receive a DMCA takedown notice or European equivalent, how are these handled?
5. We’ve never received a DMCA takedown notice, however, our architecture won’t allow us to single out a customer. We hope that our premium product does not attract too many “issues” and we hope that our customers keep within the safe range.
6. What steps are taken when a valid court order requires your company to identify an active user of your service? Has this ever happened?
6. This has never happened, so let’s not paint the devil on the wall.
7. Does your company have a warrant canary or a similar solution to alert customers to gag orders?
7. As we can’t single out our customers, we can’t notify or warn them.
8. Is BitTorrent and other file-sharing traffic allowed on all servers? If not, why?
8. We usually allow torrents, but not in Amsterdam and the US.
9. Which payment systems do you use and how are these linked to individual user accounts?
9. We are one of the few PCI complaint merchants, so we can handle all payment data for credit card transactions ourselves on our own servers. Meaning that we don’t use tools like Chargify or other POS systems. We only save a token which is a system to system key and it does not link any card data to our customers. A similar token system is used with PayPal, but here the payment is processed with them. We also allow Bitcoin transactions, that’s the ultimate secure payment source, we also roll out prepaid cards which you will be able to buy in shops and internet cafes in cash soon.
10. What is the most secure VPN connection and encryption algorithm you would recommend to your users? Do you provide tools such as “kill switches” if a connection drops and DNS leak protection?
10. Our Apps are set per default in OpenVPN mode, which is the algorithm we approve and recommend. Our Win + Mac + Android apps are equipped with kill switch functionality, however we need to fine tune them a bit over the next couple of weeks.
11. Do you use your own DNS servers? (if not, which servers do you use?)
11. Yes we use our own DNS servers
12. Do you have physical control over your VPN servers and network or are they outsourced and hosted by a third party (if so, which ones)? Where are your servers located?
12. We are in full control of our equipment, hardware and upstream. We operate 55 locations in 40 countries from Australia to Emirates, HongKong to Denver, London to Serbia. We have a lot of locations covered.

You can use any open vpn client.
You dont want to run all your traffic through a VPN.
Tried it on my N66U. Cpu in router could only manage 10Mbit up and down with openvpn so seriously limiting. Connecting to VPN on laptop gives me full 70Mb/s
Also if you use services like prime video or netflix you need to switch the VPN off to access.
I bought a GL-AR300M from amazon for £30.
Connected to my main router and running cyberghost via openvpn.
Speeds are only 10Mbit up and down but ideal for streaming HD but leaves your normal wifi at full speed.
Firmware also has option to cut internet if VPN fails.
nublets2k
16 Apr 17#45
Yeah that's not surprising, the laptop cpu probably has hardware encryption acceleration. A more recent router, at least one without an ancient processor would give better speeds, but they'd still be limited by the cpu power.

Hi guys. I'd highly recommend F-Secure's VPN service. I use it at home (tablet and PCs) and on my phone. I always receive full speeds as per my Broadband and mobile contract. The biggest selling point is that F-Secure are a hugely reputable company in the security industry. The node selection is extensive and yes, P2P works using most nodes (website has a list). As a company based in Finland your data is fully protected. I'd rather pay someone like F-Secure that have that reputation than an 'unknown' company. Using a VPN is a must nowadays, especially if you use unsecured WiFi connections (think airports and cafes). https://www.f-secure.com/en_GB/web/home_gb/freedome

The VPN service will know what sites you are visiting. They may keep logs (some explicitly say they don't). In terms of seeing the data you type in, if you are on a secure (https) website they cannot see any data transmitted. Think of it as layers of encryption. So they can't see payment details etc (as long as it's over https which it should be).
As a unrelated side note, if you ever use a work pc, it is common that they have been set up to allow the security software/admins to view your secure traffic even over https as the pc is in effect compromised (they have pre-configured it). So don't check your personal email or buy things at work.
Edit: from the website:
"No Logging, No Problem
Protecting our customers is our most important task. Therefore, tigerVPN does not store any activity logs anywhere - period. Next question please"

17 Apr 171#79
Hey, just a little touch on VPN's. Firstly as someone posted, Does it keep logs, this is a must not, if you want your privacy to remain. VPN's when bought Free, USUALLY the speed drops when a internet connection is made. So hence the reason for purchasing. As also someone said about using pc to to to fire sticks, this is going to occur a great drop in bandwidth. So not recommended tbh. Me personally would I buy this deal, no. To cheap, so I'm suspicious. Recommendations? Yeah, plenty, though best I've used in a while is F-secure, £30 and that's three devices connected per year. That's all basically, oh and I'm in no way associated with F-secure. Just giving info in which I hope is clearer a little for people.

Personally, I do not trust them, here is what they say:
"We are committed to your privacy and do not collect or log traffic data or browsing activity from individual users connected to our VPN. When you register on the Site you will be asked to provide certain personal information, including your email address and payment information. We will store this information, but will not share it with any third parties except as necessary to provide the features of the Service. For example, we may store your personal information on a third party server or we may use a third party analytics tool to understand how our Service is being used by customers. We will use your contact details to send you notifications about the Service and to respond to customer support requests. You may access and change your personal information by logging in to the Site.
In addition, we may collect the following information: dates (not times) when connected to our service, choice of server location, and the total amount of data transferred per day. We store this to be able to deliver the best possible network experience to you. We analyze this information generically and keep the data secure. Our software may send diagnostic data to a third party analytics provider for the purpose of identifying connection errors and possible bugs in our application. The information collected is generic in nature and does not contain personally identifying information. We use third party cookies, pixels and website analytics tools to track sales promotions or advertisements and to understand which pages on the Site receive visitors."
So personally, I would not trust them, I use Private Internet Access. They have been proven to not keep logs. For example, last year their Russian VPN servers were raided by police since they did not comply with Russian logging laws. No useful data was obtained by the Russians.
I think actions speak louder than words, any VPN provider can claim that it is anonymous, yet few can prove it.

I am interested in what issues you had with VPN Unlimited. I currently have that lifetime subscription for five devices, use it on Android it seems fine, my laptop for browsing and accessing VPN locked stores it works well and speeds are ok, not maxing my connection but not poor, their own app is reasonable and consistent in design across Android and Windows. However most of their locations it does detect with whatismyipaddress as a 'Network Sharing Device'. Also leaving on 24/7 it disconnected after a couple of days, and setting up on a router it disconnected and never re-established after about a day, but then the router I was using was pretty poor too so I am not convinced it was entirely the VPNs fault there.
For comparison though, I had a year Cyberghost Special Edition when that was on offer (fewer locations than premium but otherwise the same) and that was excellent, good speeds, fine software and whatismyipaddress detected no specific services running. Cyberghost as a service would be my preference, however for the price VPN Unlimited has been ok.

I had two issues with it before giving up so I haven't looked into any further problems there may be; 1) rediculously slow speeds on some server locations, too slow to stream. Just tested right now and 5 servers are too slow currently to stream even at 720p. 2) Dropping connection fairly frequently, up to multiple times an hour.
The issues are only with a few of the locations/servers, some are very good and are maxing out an 80mb conection. It varies though, with ups and downs and drops, for me it's unuasble.

Don't trust Opera, it's owned by a chinese company now. There's also the saying, if the VPN is free, then you are the product (that is they will sell your data)
I see F-secure on Ebay for £16.75 for one years access on 3 devices. Would that be preferable to this offer?
Also F-secure doesn't appear on "that one privacy site?

How can I set this up on windows 10, I never used a vpn before?
daskapital
17 Apr 171#119
Actually yes they can. Since they have the certificates and they are the CA they can decrypt your traffic.
So the question is, would you rather trust the government, or some US corporation with your data/browsing history.
Or, you could setup a free Amazon AWS cloud instance, install openvpn on it, and use that. Destroy it after a week and make a new one.
And before someone says oh but you need specialist knowledge yadayada... if you can copy & paste, you can do it.

Folks
For those interested I have gone for this and so far speeds are acceptable, streaming on kodi on the pc works fine. I have tried the app on the firestick without success. Can connect to the app but ipleak still shows the main ip address. Also tried using openvpn but same issue. I believe this is a firestick issue as mine is 1st gen. The only way I have found around it is as described here. Connect pc to Tiger and then create a virtual router (very easy, I did it and I'm a complete noob to vpn / routers). Will see if they throttle down the speed for those on the lifetime subscription but if it stays as is I'm happy. Hope this helps.

I'm looking at setting up pfsense for this reason. My plan is to use an old thin client or laptop and set that up as a router and ditch my router. You'll get much better throughput than any other router. Will need a separate wifi ap though.

18 Apr 17#133
Not true.... Sometimes use torguard and it works fine. If you use port 443 with open VPN they cannot distinguish the traffic from standard ssl traffic.
madmal
18 Apr 17#134
Depends what we are taking about here but a https (ssl) session is encrypted between the browser and the end website, your admin cannot snoop that traffic. Even the proxy server will let it straight through. They would know which sites you visited etc. But they cannot get your bank details for example.

It's just I've been on here long enough to see various companies fold pretty quickly after amazing offers.
Dialaphone, loads of those free Sim card companies, etc etc.
I suppose I'm just very wary of offers like this.

I personally wouldn't jump into it without knowing more. There is nothing more frustrating than a stuttering media stream.
Is the company likely to last my lifetime or will it go pop anytime soon?

Plenty of routers about that support ddwrt or Tomato firmware which can both handle openvpn
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tigeratwork.tigervpn
Indeed a typical way to "bypass" the "number of device" limit is to implement VPN on a router which can serve a number/variety of devices. But you might not be able to stream multiple HD content concurrently, unless the raw feed from your ISP is fast enough and the router (configured for VPN) is powerful enough. Not all routers can be (easily) configured for VPN.
Unlock geo restrictions and website filters
Kiss censorship and restrictions goodbye and access any website on the planet. Watch online content, play games, listen to music or upload tons of pictures on social media.

Also I use my mobileandroid phone to tether from my mobile connection to PC and tablet. Will this suit my purposes?
(Obviously, not copyrighted material).
Get randomly 8-18m max. Connection speeds.

2. Speed performance on general browsing, torrenting, usenet?
3. Speed performance of OpenVPN on the router?
Cheers
As a unrelated side note, if you ever use a work pc, it is common that they have been set up to allow the security software/admins to view your secure traffic even over https as the pc is in effect compromised (they have pre-configured it). So don't check your personal email or buy things at work.
Edit: from the website:
"No Logging, No Problem
Protecting our customers is our most important task. Therefore, tigerVPN does not store any activity logs anywhere - period. Next question please"
Before was 105Mb Down & 6.16Mb Up
After (using New York server) 43.3Mb Down & 4.66Mb Up
I plan to set up a second router with it installed but I am just trying to understand if the spare one I have here will do it or if I am going to pick one up from Amazon. Either way, once I have done this I will post results of the VPN on the router itself.
Cheers

Seems fine so far but the lack of a kill switch is a worry.
Personally, I have never had any issues connecting. Speeds are good, and I have installed the app on my Android phone too now for when out and about using public wifi.
Recommended from me. Some people will always state "Well they could go bust at any time couldnt they, etc etc.." but that comment could be true of any provider or business!.
Anyway, its a thumbs up for me. Best price around too.
which you can install a VPN subscription onto . Do you or anyone know if this Vpn offer will work with said router? Thanks

Officially, no OpenVPN support. Thats not to say it can't be used just needs manually done.
However based on this http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=935849 it is possible.
