Wow, didn't expect those responses :disappointed: I only meant why would virgin hold an east coast sale but only from one station, it doesn't make sense to me. Although I am pleased some people are able to benefit from it, if not me and hope they decide to hold a proper sale sometime soon.

Yes it used to be £12 each way from Manchester for an advance single and £14 from Preston. Now it is £20 from Manchester and same from Preston! It used to be £29 single from Glasgow to London with GNER in 1997 to 2006 when they lost their licence to a new bidder.

Just tried from Newark (not north of Leeds) and even with the code it's £106 and that's not on peak trains!
Diesel is only £40. Guess I'm driving then!
