Why bother! just mature it more in your fridge. If it gets any mould on it scrape it off. we used to when I worked at a dairy. It shouldn't go mouldy if it is sealed though. You can freeze it but it does alter the texture slightly to a more crumbly cheese. We used to fill the stilton pots for Christmas using all the broken stiltons or rejects that had been frozen thoughout the year then defrosted to pack into the pots and then frozen again.
I don't think that andreocean needs any "help" with his deal posts
Or should we start posting them all individually? :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe no good for slicing (but the mature is a bit crumbly anyhow), but fine to grate and freeze. Then use it on pasta dishes etc. The commercially grated stuff tends to have a bit of potato flour to stop it sticking but not needed for freezing.

Yes you can. A big slab like this would need to be cut into quarters or thirds first. May be a bit crumbly when defrosted but fine for using in cooking.

When I've tried this I've found it just as good as the more expensive brands.

Complete nonsense . Excellent, tasty cheese produced by Dale Farm of Cookstown Co Tyrone . Bought a couple of bricks when Lidl did it at the end of January

I think it is actually made by Wykes, or the last time I purchased it some time ago, I recall it saying it on the back.

Good price, but in my experience always need to factor in a long wait at checkout when visiting Lidl...! :-)

Not at my new local, with self service checkouts. I always find that the queues look worse than they are anyhow.

Cheese is good - great for large families who will use it quickly. Last time I bought this size I found it went slimmy & white round the edges after I resealed bag.

Even the manufacturer prefers to remain unknown, all dairy goods can be traced by their EC label which you can look up online. For instance the Lidl Camembert is made by the President factory. Or that the feta in Lidl and Aldi is from the same supplier. Of course it is possible that with something like matured cheddar that the manufacturer would have different grades for their own brand and what they produce for supermarkets.

Think I'll make a big pot of mac'n'cheese and freeze portions. Cheers.

I was replying to the comment about long queues, not the availability of the cheese.

Went in today to look for this, couldn't see any sign of it, then realised this was for Lidl, not Aldi. I always get them mixed up - the only difference is an L and a D. Stupid names for shops.:-P

Oh really? We were stuck to 6! Tho with cheese they only had 18 packs!!

When i bought them i asked first if there was any limit on how many i could buy, they said 10 would be fine. They did have 4 boxes full on the shelf though. Maybe it would be a limit of 6 if they didn't have much in stock
