If I remember rightly it was a short height microswitch stick which the 'D' pad is best at emulating because it only recognised about 8 positions, the main left, right, up, down plus the diagonals which D pads also do very well as they are also digital not analogue like the original sticks. It means you can pump out a sequence of exact positions to do the special moves which is at the heart of the gameplay of this game.

Seems very expensive for such an old title. Pretty much the same game as was on the Super Nintendo. You'd think this would be a compilation of retro games for the same money. Also where is the D pad on the Joy cons for this? Seems a strange game when the standard controller doesn't seem to support the normal controls unless you are meant to have a pro controller for this game which would limit it to docked mode.
Sort of thing that if you wanted to play on the go a good android gaming tablet running emulation would do better. The dreamcast had the best and most varied street fighter games and is capable of being emulated at full speed on many tablets nowadays, not forgetting all the older consoles and the original arcade machines. Maybe even ps2 emulation would be possible which had many street fighter games too.
My experience with Vita when used when travelling is I would keep a major large game in the cartridge slot and then have minor small games as digital downloads so I didn't have to take separate cartridges with me which I would risk losing and made good use of the Vita's storage capacity so I had a varied game selection. This seems like a very small game. The neogeo fighting games on Switch are less than 200MB each and this could be a similar file size. It's a shame Nintendo don't also sell download codes in retail boxes so they could also benefit from discounting.

Also, where was the D-pad on the Street Fighter 2 arcade machines back in the day?

I cannot believe capcom have the cheek to charge this much for a digital game which is a decade older than most switch users.

Given its such an outdated game... I was hoping they'd at least bundle it with the original SFII, SFII Turbo, SSFII, SSFII Turbo + this remake.
Maybe they'll do it with the Alpha series + Puzzle Fighter II. One can dream.

For the first part, really anything we do doesn't really matter. Individually we are irrelevant. But opinions are important to others. For example the windows 10 keys on this site that are voted super hot. By your logic people shouldn't "complain" about it, but there will be people that want to know that it's kind of shady and potential risks. Realistically such comments aren't really going to be particularly beneficial or detrimental to MS. Negative opinions help to weigh up if something has drawbacks despite the price. I find them more important than something voted highly mostly due to popularity. Obviously there will be criticism in places that aren't of value. Whether it's a deal, or just a regular product. I want to see opinions and see what agrees with my values.
Thanks for the info on the d-pad though, I do hope to get a switch eventually when it's hopefully in better shape so it's good to know about things to consider.
Ok thanks for the info . Though on the topic of the SNES mini I think that's just a rumour at this point. They could just be trying to add focus and work on their virtual console for the switch.

I don't think they feel the same at all with an analogue stick, also makes it harder too and lastly they get soo much abuse that you can damage or wear out the analogue stick. However also some of the feel is lost simply because you are using wireless controllers because they add a little lag and a modern flat screen television which also adds lag. Many of the best beat em ups feel best emulated on an old original xbox with wired controllers and a CRT tv (0ms input lag) or alternatively a Dreamcast with CRT.
Nintendo is a doing a Super Nintendo mini console this year and wonder if that will actually include many of these great beat em ups like Street fighter II. You'll have a better controller which is wired for lower input lag and I think will deliver a better experience but is only portable in the fact it's reduced size means it will travel easily from house to house to use on a friends tv etc. If it ends up being close to £50 suggested retail discounted to £40 then it will offer a better retro experience than this game especially if it includes 30 titles like the NES classic.

 It's a hot from me!
Cancelled my order with Nintendo as the extra fiver off on this deal is much more worth it to me than the bundled T-shirt.
It's gonna be a blast reliving the joy on the switch! I had so much fun playing this on my megadrive and snes back in the day. Looking forward to the new features like 'Buddy mode'.

I'm not sure how complaining in a deals thread is going to help them get their games "appropriately" priced? If you don't want it don't buy it.
The d-pad on the pro controller would obviously be the most ideal way of playing but I can't see having to use an analogue stick making the game unplayable.
frish
24 Apr 17#41
Because they're gamer's that want their games appropriately priced? It's not really that confusing. No-one's saying you're not allowed to go for a deal if it suits you.Personally I have issues with a lot of the virtual console prices. Especially by the way they tied up your purchases.
Legit question time:
What are games like these like without a proper d-pad? Would you ideally want something like the pro controller (or fight stick if you're hardcore)?

No different from Sony selling PS3 HD remasters or PS2 games on the PS4 PSN when they can take the Microsoft route and make them backwards compatible.
If there is a market for it then they will sell it to make moneyz!

Well enjoy playing a 25 year old game on those annoying little pads then.
Or go buy an XBox 360, pad and Street Fighter IV for your 30 quid. Hell, even Capcom VS Tatsunoko and a Wii would be far better value.
Capcom need to let retro Street Fighter die now... And I say this as a long time fight fanatic.

Waiting for a further price drop on this one, And Puyo Puyo Tetris which I loved the demo, if only it was fairly priced on a physical copy I would buy it.
aseddon130
24 Apr 17#35
Despite being the cheapest price for this game this thing is ridiculously overpriced. People moaned about the price of Puyo Puyo Tetris but happy to pay £30 for a rerelease of a 8 year old game which was a remake of a 17 year old game? And don't mention that terrible hadoken mini game it looks embarrassing.

Street Fighter was amazing... 25 years ago! Why the hell would anyone pay £30 for it today?
I really don't understand why people are so into the Switch... the games are all so overpriced and overhyped.

What is more confusing is the people who have no interest in a item/deal but feel the need to enter a thread and post a negative comment.

TO CHARGE £30 FOR A REISSUE OF A DECADES-OLD TITLE IS ABSURD..... yet its still hot cause its on the Switch? Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix was only like £15.99 or something when it come out, Vote with your wallet and say no :/

I'm going to vote with my wallet and buy it because I want to play it.

24 Apr 17#30
Then the voting system is irrelevant and something can just automatically be voted hot for being the cheapest available. There are some cases when what you said does make sense, ie premium items available for cheaper but still expensive should still be voted hot. This is clearly not one of those cases. I'm free to express how I don't think something is actually a deal if I merely find it just less of a rip off than other places.
frish
23 Apr 171#20
Honestly this price shouldn't be considered a deal imo. New non retro based games should be around this price. I mean on the PC we get bayonetta for £15 rrp while something this old looking is £30 on deal? Somethings not right... I really want nintendo to get their **** in gear because I want a switch, but not based on what they're delivering for what they're charging. I'd rather download the classic on an emulator if I'm honest, and I haven't done that for a while.

Good price for a new switch game, but still a bit too much for this game though. Still a month to go, so may well drop further.
