What I particularly like about boxed Ty-phoo teabags is that the teabags are supplied in airtight, sealed foil packages, each containing 50 teabags (with several foil packages in the one large cardboard box). It's important to keep dried tea, er, dry. And airtight. Until it's needed to make the drink.

Well with this new information in mind, I'm going to buy another 4 boxes or maybe even 5 if the sell by date allows.

I get loads of pleasure from drinking tea, much so then any other drink. I'm going to Google SGPTD and see if I can join!

In the interests of science and the furtherment of the aims of the SGPTD (Society of Getting Pleasure from Tea Drinking), I have just blown 1.5p by sacrificing two Ty-phoo teabags, one a 'normal strength' bag, the other a 'one cup' variety. They are both of similar vintage and well inside their 'use by' date. By cutting the teabags open and inspecting their respective contents, I can confirm that the tea inside each bag is a subtly different colour from each other (the 'normal strength' tea being darker and less brown compared to the 'one cup' variety). And I noticed that the 'one cup' tea is cut slightly finer. Also confirmed, the volume of tea in the 'normal strength' bag is approx twice that compared to that from the 'one cup' teabag.

Verdict: I assume the colour difference, and fineness of cut, indicates that the tea blends are different between 'one cup' and 'normal strength' Ty-phoo teabags. (All financial donations gratefully received to reimburse me for my financial loss. Thank you.)

Scousekevin, I agree that Ty-phoo 'one cup' teabags are not great. But using two in one cup does go to make a half decent cup of tea. As Confucius once said, "Two one-cup bags is better than no brew at all."
