I am using original 360 headsets on my Xbone s. The new stereo adaptors are a waste of time as they just produce an echo for others. You just need an adaptor jack off Ebay for £1 to plug straight into the controller.
I don't think connection to the TV or console is necessary either.

I ordered a gaming headset from Game 10 days ago, still not here, and i am on the verge of asking for a refund, especially when i see ones like this for a quarter of the price that work on xbox one.

Can I use this on the bus and tube to listen to music and look like a badass?

If you can find the wii u version that has the 3.5mm.
But these are horrible, I upgraded mine after first use. Very tight and cause soreness, hardly any bass (expected really as not powered) although the mic is quite clear there is no feedback.

I know it says 360 only but any hope of them working with xbox one or pc? I know there were adapters and changes made to the pads.

Not really ideal, but hard to argue at £7.99.
They use a 3.5mm jack, so the adapter would only be used on the older controllers.

Oh, looking at it, the XLA uses a 2.5mm connector, so you'll need the 3.5mm adapter, too.
