I've had problems getting witcher 1 working on windows 10 as well, it installs but then gives me a "had to close" error at start up.

Added heat for those that can get the game to work, but it refuses to run on any of the five systems I have access to here for various different claimed reasons (all of which are nonsense). So glad I didn't actually pay for this failure.

They've restored free keys. Now only email is needed. HOWEVER, the key is dud - not redeemable at GOG with message "code already redeemed"

Still broken............I wonder if they realised this would happen, how could they not have expected a huge hit on their servers?!?

Ars Technica has teamed up with GOG.com to give away free copies of The Witcher Enhanced Edition. These codes are only available for a limited time so grab yours today! (You'll need a free Ars account in order to claim a code.)
Our apologies, but Ars registration is temporarily close for required maintenance.

just checked the site and the current message is:
"All righty, the code giveaway is back on. Right now we're having to limit it to existing Ars accounts only, since many thousands of bots trying to simultaneously register for Ars accounts was killing the site pretty hard. We've got registration temporarily disabled for now, but we'll re-enable it shortly once we have another workaround in place. Who knew that the word "free" could cause so much chaos?"
