Completely off topic (but then most of the posts above are). I got Rez Infinite and Dirt Rally VR in the PSN sale last night. Both excellent games. Tech demos my rectum!

If VR is a 'fad' it's a fad that has spread across decades. It's not going away, it's going to improve and will become the most immersive form of gaming.

Thats just typical Sony damage control. They also say their phone and movie divisions are doing fine when they are losing them billions. Don't take what Sony says literally.

Maybe so, but the VR isn't losing money, and neither is their gaming division so i fail to see the relevence here?
In fact, that makes them more likely to pull out of mobile phones and movies and go 100% into gaming if anything!
Besides, It's not just Sony who are developing games for VR, it;s only been out a few months and games are in development. I find it amusing that they allowed this game tethered to be played without VR and you seem to think this means VR has failed.... amusing!

You can't declare false profits its illegal, shareholders have to be told exact figures.. there is no damage control in that situation.

Aww, this is what bothers me, people taking sides. Both of you arguing are right, and both are wrong.
I like my psvr, and it has given me some of the best most immersive experiences I've ever had (Along with wild motion sickness, but whatever...). I'd rather spend the money on it and get something new, than on another games console that does pretty much the same as my existing one.
Will it replace normal screen gaming? Naw, don't be daft. But it's a welcome alternative, and progress in gaming won't be made unless they take risks and we take risks by buying them. Won't be for everybody, but what is?
Hope they keep making games for it though. I'll look into Tethered, thanks!

I remember 100%ing Batman, I remember playing EVE and Battlezone for weeks no stop. I remember being blown away by RES7. I've already got my money back on my VR headset in 100% pleasure. I want everyone to experience this so put your fanboy crap away and hate. If you let this go as the way of the 3DTV you have just kicked yourself many times over in your own nutbag.

please stop, neither of you are getting anywhere and it's pretty off topic for a game that in the title specially doesn't require VR
24 billion yen net profit..... they must be looking down the back of the sofa for coins!!
Seems all your information is lacking and out of date bruh .

Sony as a company is already bleeding money as it is. They arent going to invest AAA games for PSVR. In fact they have pretty much already know its failed as a games device.
Hey everyone in the tech world, quit developing future technology because darkspace100 on a shopping forum has said it's all a gimmick!
Oh and guess what, 3D will be back again sometime in the future. Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news for you

You can hope all you want but it ain't happening bruh. Nothing beats the convenience of a TV and standard controller and it doesn't matter how much money companies throw money at it. Your logic of because its new we should all flock to it is stupid. Why fix what isn't broke? We need better games not ways to play.
Wow 900k VRs sold. Just to give you an example how bad those sales are is the PS Vita sold around 13 million and Sony still treated it like dirt so PSVR is a bigger flop than PS Vita.

Again, you;re brain clearly lacks the imagination to think ahead
So, there is no way in the future they can create contact lenses that give you VR? or some other technology?
It's not necessary what I want, it's how it's going to be.
Barely anyone wants?? VR hasn't even really started yet! it's not been out long and was out of stock everywhere lol
Sony has sold 915,000 headsets since October

VR will never replace traditional games no matter how much you want it to. Just for the fact you have to set it up and store it away after finishing is enough reason for many people not to bother and no company will invest millions into a gimmick hardware barely anyone owns or uses.

We would all still be living in mud huts if people didn't move on an adapt to new things.
VR will one day be how games are played, like it or lump it. That day may even be when most of us are dead... some people just can't use their imagination and look past the slight deterioration in visual quality, i get that and feel sorry for them as they are missing out... most prefer Eye candy over immersion, personally I can enjoy it as it is. Resident Evil VR was the best resident evil/horror game i've played. And the likes of Horizon whilst i found ok are pretty dull and linear in comparison.Same as Zelda, just bored to death playing it, nothing new....
And It's not throwing money away if i enjoy it, i could sell it tomorrow for near enough what i paid if i wanted...
Either way, if you don't like VR then don't buy one, or rebuy one, it's your choice... why everyone keeps feeling the need to share their opinion on it at the earliest opportunity is bizarre attention seeking. OR they can't afford it.

What is so dumb about giving an honest opinion?
The tech can progress as much as you like but if the content and support are not there then the market will soon move on, as it has done repeatedly in the past.
I have been gaming since the 80's and it is always gameplay that counts, no amount of tarting up with gimmicks or pretty visuals will ever change that. So until VR actually delivers any meaningful content then it remains as I have already said and expense short lived tech demo.

VR is amazing and it can only get better, but all this depends on the gaming public's support. Some people just want to see everything burn. This is people kicking themselves hard in their own nuts. Many good games coming on VR this April. This game looks great on VR.
I say if you can get it, get it FFS. Help build the future of gaming.

Ive found those condemning VR are usually those who haven't tried it or more likely cannot afford it.. its then easier to slate it and make it seem less desirable..
Personally myself and kids love it, and if it only sees a few games a year its fine by me, as VR is the kind of experience we only play in short bursts..

Its a gimmick just like 3DTVs and motion controls were both touted as the future but both died just like VR is. Your just mad people arent as gullible as you throwing away money on a gimmick.

What a dumb comment, VR headsets first appeared in the 90's, are you saying they haven't improved since then??
VR games offer much more immersion than anything else, i'd sooner player VR than a 4k game
The headsets are built to a budget, which is a shame but thats how it is.. and i don't mind the slight graphical knock for a better experience. There will likely be a better VR headset in the future, maybe a pro headset lol - have to wait a little while or there will be more crybabies like with the Pro console.
Traditional games on TV are becoming a snorefest for me they are all mostly the same linear rubbish.

I can afford it and bought on release day, I did try it and just decided that until it gets out of just being a tech demo it doesn't really add anything to the gaming experience (in fact the concessions it forces on games detracts from gameplay). Needless to say I soon sold it and will wait and see if it ever improves, which I suspect it will not.

negativity aside, this is a well reviewed game which deserves looking in to http://opencritic.com/game/3513/tethered-vr-
Edit: That said, the trophy completion appears to be impossible. Though in my experience that doesn't bother most people on this site

I could be wrong but aren't sales about 5% of that of the ps4 which is a hell of a lot less than the vita and psvr is supposed to have a lot more sales than oculus rift, which really doesn't say it has a future ,which was said about motion controls and kinect and look how thy turned out
Apart from a few games nothing new haxs coming out since those that came out this first few months after release. I really expect in usual Sony fashion , just like the vita they will start dropping support for VR

Its a fad just like 3DTVs were and the price has nothing to do with it flopping. I find it funny as people were claiming it was the future of gaming but its getting less support from Sony than even the PS Vita did.
