Generally more powerful, can extrapolate from that what you will, faster CPU and better GPU, 2GB of RAM
As Sweeney says it also has an ethernet port, as well as Micro SD slot

Only thing putting me off at the moment is I am expecting them to put a new model of the box out soon to replicate what they have done with the stick (Alexa). Anyone got any intel?!

I believe the Alexa update came through a few days ago. Other than that this is much better than the stick. The Ethernet port makes this a much better device.

Ok - didn't realise that - cheers. Suspect there will still be something pushed out soon for 4K HDR too but don't have a 4K tv so less fussed about that in short term!

snap it up,bang kodi on it with a nice build and install PLEX and these are top notch and if you manage to get a stable google play on it your in the realms of serious entertainment . Firestick is slow and useless with awful wifi .

firstly i recommend wooki build for kodi and there are community builds also inside that if you want a change but wookie has everything and small or larger size builds if memory is an issue.
Yeah stream from your plex server wherever it is,i use mine when away from home at hotels or friends or other countries to access my movies and if you have 4k it should stream but never tried myself as use kodi for 4k or netflix and amazon depending on what im watching and yeah ull need at least 20mbs.

Bear in mind plex is using dlna which supports only up to 1080p. Doesn't support 4k. If you want to stream 4k maybe the best option is to attach hdd or use direct network access.

Incorrect. Plex doesn't use DLNA. You can has optionally enable DLNA If you wish on Plex media server but it does not natively stream using DLNA.
Plex has supported 4k streaming for a long time........

Tempted to buy this, is Kodi less laggy on it than one the firestick? Although to be fair, most programs work fine on the firestick but have found a couple of shows that are annoyingly laggy.

I have both the fire stick and fire Tv. The difference is honestly night and day. Kodi has no lag whatsoever in my experience on fire TV. The firestick used to do my head in

Thanks. Might go for it then as quite a few shows we like watching are only aired in America and downloading them to stream via Plex has become increasingly more difficult so gave Kodi a go this week and am more impressed with it than when I last used it but, it is slow going at times. So an upgrade seems like a good idea :-)

These are actually one of the best 'android boxes' around for kodi, fast and responsive menus. Best build I find to use is pulse ccm via ares wizard. Gets regularly maintained

This will be better then as long as your tv and bluray aren't stuttering due to slow broadband? The Fire TV can run many more apps than most TVs. I've got the original (non 4K) and find its much faster than my smart TV or Blueray. I also like Alexa - handy for shopping list and things. Sounds silly, but you can add items to a shopping list, then on the alexa app on your phone you get a list of everything you've added. Maybe that's just me (and I use an Amazon Echo in the kitchen) but that's actually quite handy!

Thanks. Basically it applied where you have one account with multiple devices registered to it. So just create a new account for every stick. Takes about 5 mins.

Nothing..its natively supported. If you have 4K media in your Plex library and a Plex device that natively supports the audio/video codec in your 4k file it will play.
I stream 4K MKV's to a Samsung 4k TV via a PS4 Pro as the Plex client on my Samsung TV can be a little bit hit and miss with 4k MKV's.
PS4 Pro handles them fine.
