Just bare in mind theres no cross play on this like street fighter v, those that have the option to get the console version, might prefer to do so as the player base is likely to be higher. Heat for the price though

Third party games with competitive online are better on consoles just because of numbers.
It's why I'd be reluctant to get Destiny 2 on PC.

From my experience playing competitive games on both PC and consoles I'd say it's not just about the numbers but on consoles more % of users are all playing in the same even playing field as others for competitiveness, like say on PC for example one can get much more advantage than another PC user whether it's from higher fps and the other has lower or fluctuating fps etc and as for cheating with hacks or scripts etc which can also happen on console too of course but on a far less degree while on PC it being a open platform anyone can easily access it and do it and if the game isn't VAC protected your Steam account doesn't have a risk of being banned but on console however if you been reported and caught using hacks then your PSN/XBL account will all be banned immediately and that can apply to any game as your not allowed to use such tools on those hardware so it mitigates the users even more.
I'll be double dipping on Tekken 7 and Destiny 2 on both PC and PS4 just for fun that's all that matters really

MMORPG's fair better on PC's though. Tekken would have a bigger fan base on Console though.

I'll be playing on PS4 where 99% of the Tekken playerbase will play. PC version will be dead on arrival just like COD games are on PC. Enjoy your empty servers PC "master race". Lol.

Games like this need to include cross-platform multiplayer. PC gamers are not really known for a big fighting playerbase but as someone said earlier about numbers, there are WAY more gamers that play PC games than all consoles combined, and I feel destiny 2 will be hit it off with a lot of PC gamers.

Nah they shouldn't. I'm glad Sony and MS aren't allowing it for the most part because PC owners are very arrogant and they cheat like its going out of fashion like using infinite health exploits in SF5. We do not want to play with PC owners. They deserve nothing.

Overwatch also has a much larger base on PC. For fighting games PS4 is usually much better, especially given how low the populations are anyway. Not sure why there is no crossplay seeing as there's no mouse vs controller issue.
Isn't Destiny an FPS? I would have thought cross play would be hard to balance. Never played it so maybe aim isn't as important as other factors?

Overwatch is pretty interesting, most other FPS tank on pc.
I think the attachment to blizzard on pc is alot stronger.
I'd still hesitate to touch an online multiplat on pc.

I don't have a console anymore but always enjoyed Tekken (whilst I prefer Dead or Alive).
Quite a few PC gamers have Steam Link and play on their TVs now using controllers. Also the fact that controllers are just plug & play nowadays means there will probably be a good enough player base!!

I think you will be in for a shock how few people will buy Tekken on PC. Even on PS4 which is the most popular system literally every fighting game that isn't Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter is pretty much dead. Even with Street Fighter 5 a month or two after release I was playing the same people over and over again. Fighting games are already niche as it is so unless you just want to play the single player stuff like story then I honestly wouldn't bother with PC.

I don't have a choice because I still want to play it.
The PS4 is the most popular simply because the pad is the best pad for fighting games (unlike the xbox pad which is better for racing games), luckily I have a PS4 pad for my PC. I have a few friends who will come around also + my daughter so it will get good use

A great deal for what will be a great game. Looking forward to it. Need to find me a good PS4 deal though, d-pad wins. Don't like fighting sticks.

Will play on pc for higher resolution and less input lag, probably a better online connection as well. With the likes of discord you're always going to be able to a game, even for more niche fighting games titles on pc.

The bigger player base will be on console though (and dare I say better players) so more likely to get opponents with decent ping and less likely to come across hackers with autoblock or something. Still, if this supports ultrawide Im there. I just hope that it doesn't turn in to what PES is on PC and there are no players online after a few weeks.

Subjective, some SFV pro's use a 360 controller on the ps4 version, crazy I know, but it's just what you're used to I guess.

Depends on the type of shooter. Competitive FPS's tend to be way bigger on PC I'm not sure if there are any other shooters that have the player base of the likes of CSGO and Overwatch(hopefully Quake Champions will get up there as well). Even TF2 still always has 50k+ online after 10 years or so.
Stuff like COD, Titanfall etc have larger player bases on console which makes sense as that's the primary market for them. Battlefield seems to be a loose exception but I guess that has it's roots on pc.
Overwatch being from Blizzard certainly helped it on PC. Probably the best thing it's got going for it is that the playerbase is so mixed skilled. So whether your awesome at FPS's or hopeless but enjoy it anyway there's plenty of people to play at your skill level.
I can't use the 360 dpad for anything but item select. Although it was apparently designed with fighting games in mind hence the weird floaty design!

It won't support ultrawide being a fighter, I can guarantee that. Cheaters I imagine will be few and far between. Never came across 1 in 100 hours of SFV on PC. Be interested to see what the input lag is like on PS4, on GG and SFV its 4 and 6f respectively, but on my gsync monitor I'm getting 1f, pretty significant. I tend to play with a group on people on voice chat so accept a smaller player base in exchange for less lag and higher resolution.
lomax
19 Apr 17#28
Is the input lag not tied to the game engine. I thought that was the minimum input lag if you were outputting to a CRT with zero delay on your input methiod. Your display tech would then add to that. 1 frame being the absolute minimum for input lag as you'll always have frame transmission time. To get only 1 frame of input lag your computer would need to process the input and generate the frame instantly.
adam0812
19 Apr 17#29
My monitor has a total of 10ms of lag (input lag + pixel response) and the game runs at 1f delay so yer probably looking at 1.5f of lag or something like that. But you have the same delay from the monitor on console of course plus whatever the game runs at, problem with console is there's no way to switch off vsync.
Thanks for the link. Impressive work on the engine by Arc, Capcom didn't do nearly as good a job! I'd say his numbers are a rough approximation as his camera is only 60fps, valid indication all the same. I didn't know that anti-aliasing and post effects basically added 2 frames of delay.
Out of interest does gsync make any difference for fighting games. In theory it doesn't kick in unless your frame rate drops below the display refresh rate. Given that for fighting games you need to be locked to 60 anyway does it do anything?

adam0812

The advantage to using gsync is it bypasses vsync giving less lag. In guilty gear you can disable it so you can get the same delay as gsync on a normal monitor, but may experience some choppiness/screen tearing. In SFV however there is no option to disable vsync so you are stuck with the delay that adds, unless you are using gsync/freesync.
