I use low self-discharge rechargeables in mine. They work perfectly well, the only trouble being the poorly-designed battery level detection which results in the LED flashing for 6 months. I wish they'd fix that, because it's both cheaper and more environmentally friendly than using disposable batteries.

Definitely worth the money. We had one for four year and when it stopped working they sent free replacement parts to try fix it before sending a free replacement cat flap. Absolutely superb product and company. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them!!

would highly recommend this and we just changed the batteries today for the 1st time since we bought it a year ago.

great cat flaps, brought one a few mths ago for ours as we had visitors and it works a charm.

I have the Dual Scan model and it's great. We have two cats and need to be able to stop one from going out if they're going to the vet (since these have a manual dial to turn to lock it completely - not per cat). The Dual Scan model scans from both sides so you can deactivate the cat lucky enough to be visiting the vet :smiley:

Battery-wise we normally get 6 months on Duracells, but ours is scanning both ways, we have two cats, and they have a habit of sitting there with their heads poking into the window.

Great price. I'm looking for a good deal on the Sureflap Pet Door at the moment as the cat flap they make is a bit too small for one of my big cats.

Amazing catflap. I got mine 2 years ago and extended it with 6 sureflap tunnel extensions to go throught the wall rather than door.

I currently have some tom cat spraying and entering our porch and eating my cats food. we have a magnet ...so i have been looking at these. Other than the ambidextrous cat using its little paws to get in, this seems the only answer to my problem. So tyvm for this post.

I'd like to get one of these as I have two cats - one is extremely sociable and will go up to anybody and the other is a bit wary of strangers. The problem is that the sociable cat keeps having her collar removed (it happens too often to be lost playing, etc). I've spent quite a bit of money on collars and engraved name disks and address barrels. After having her latest new collar removed the day after I bought it, I think that I'm going to give up now (she is microchipped but I'd still like her to wear a collar so that people realise that she is not a stray). I actually think it is one of the neighbours as last year they said that their dog didn't like the sound of the bell on the collar - because the cat apparently sits on their lap when they are outside, I think it is them. My cat also has a habit of bringing in presents - live (usually) frogs, slow worms, mice and birds - she managed to drag in a fully grown pigeon through the catflap a couple of weeks ago, which was horrible. I suppose if the collar was left on at least the birds would have a chance to get away if they heard the bell!

I had one of these for a year until a local tom worked out he could pull the flap open from the outside. I emailed Sureflap and they sent me the Dualscan version free of charge. It scans going in and out, so the flap can't be pulled open. Excellent customer service, but I'd recommend getting the Dualscan rather than this model

these are great, just make sure you buy lithium ion batteries for it and they last all year

Have been looking at these for a while and this does seem like a good price. Just seems ridiculous that they charge twice this for one with a simple digital timer.
