Brilliant. I've been waiting for my local chippy to do their chips for £1 instead of £1.30 but they blame Brexit and Potato prices, so I've been starving for months now.

That's a contradiction, it's not native 4K when it's using checkerboard, checkerboard is an upscaling method, in this case to get 4K.
You can't go by Youtube videos, all Youtube videos are compressed, that's why Digital Foundry sometimes release the uncompressed versions of their videos.
It's not all just about FPS and resolution either, there are other graphical enhancements for Pro games, the same sort of stuff you would expect a choice of on PC, but in this case it's in the developers hands what's on or off.
You really need to see it up close and personal to make a true comparison, whether that's 1080p vs 1080p or vs 4K, if you still feel the same then that's cool.

I agree, you'd have to look for the extra detail in Horizon Zero Dawn for example rather than it being stand out obvious, there's a comparison or comparison videos between 1080P and 4K for Horizon Zero Dawn on YouTube.

I can get this for £308 right now and just got a 4K 65 incher week before last but I'm still on the fence, I got a feeling Sony have a very enticing trick up their sleeve for the launch of Scorpio.
Apart from that these basic black PS4's and white Xbone's are plain as fxxx so would rather wait for a different coloured edition to drop anyway.
Still a decent price though so heat from the Chas.

Was thinking of getting one of these with a 15% eBay code recently, ended up buying something else, then a 1440p 165hz screen with a 1080Ti.
Much bigger outlay i know, but well at least high frame rates are not a problem :stuck_out_tongue:

For 4K its really good, thats the point of the device. Horizon is 4K native(checkerboard rendering) and HDR enabled.
It's a personal choice. The next gen will blow these away of course. The main thing is to play/experience the game itself. Always.

Yeah I like to stick PS4 on any chance the mrs isnt around.
Seems a very confusing market with TV's at the moment.
Oled and the new led and 4k etc.
Think I may waot another 12 months and see of its all sorted otself out. Alot of new tech thats being tweeked (Oled) and old tech being sold as new with clever marketing (Quantom Dot)
With 4K not being the norm and nvidea and HDR battling it out.. prob best to wait for the dust to settle!
It is hard though as my tech head is craving the next big tecno purchase

Yeah they do  I'm not a particularly happy bunny about my Xbone though, the controllers are sat there without a console at the minute. I had to send it off to MS repairs in Frankfurt yesterday as it totally bricked last week.
MS customer service is even worse than Sony, I dread to think how long it will be without the thing. In fact that reminds me to check if UPS have actually collected the package from the shop collection point I had to drop it off at last night.

Have 1080p 51inch Samsung Plasma.
Keep swinging back and fourth between either uograding to PS4 Pro or getting a new 4K Oled or Samsung Quantom Dot TV.
But they both sort of go hand in hand.
May wait until PS5 and upgrade both then. Save me around 2k-4k.
Hard seeing all the new TV's (as my 51inch seems alot smaller) than it used to, so tempted to go 65 or 75(if price comes down) but prob wrong time to buy and is PS4 Pro, really that much difference to a PS4?
Worth every penny, save you a few bob too - even after you buy a PS4 Pro....

If your a heavy gamer you might want to give OLED a miss, they can suffer from image retention just like plasma do, very unlikely you would ever get screen burn though, it's not impossible, plenty of OLED phones have it, but it's due to constantly displaying the same home screens/icons.

Best game to bundle.
At 1080p it's up to you but supersampling in Horizon is a tiny improvement as the game uses txaa at 1080p which is already flawless almost 100% of the time.supersampling hits 100

How many Pro owners have a 1080p tv?
4Real2016 to sparc
13 Apr 171#3
I do but I never owned the standard PS4, I certainly like having the extra options available which are only going to improve with newly developed games.
Boost mode is great for those games that wouldn't run at a perfectly locked fps, certainly makes a difference with 30fps games, which really don't have any wiggle room in the first place for fps drops.
Game streaming at 1080p instead of 720p.
Extra USB on the back is also handy now you have expanded memory for external drives, optical out is also nice if you need one.

I don't know the exact figure if you're being specific, but there will be some that's for sure. I have a 1080P TV and a standard PS4, I wouldn't upgrade to a Pro for the marginal improvement, meaning it's not worth selling my PS4 and buying a new TV and a PS4 Pro.
