I too have had my credit score trashed for owing £1.88, don't cancel the direct debit as they won't bill you, I gave them 30 days notice, I've payed the £1.88 but my credit score says seriously in arrears (CARPHONE WAREHOUSE - ID), a email or bill would have been nice first before shifting on there customers, I'll never use them again, avoid as I can't get credit anymore now

I got this sim 6 weeks ago and realised they have increased the minutes from 250 to 500. I called them to as if they can increase my current plan to match their current offer and got 508mins, 7581txts & 2.3GB data for the same £5 / month. Thats a good result if I may say so.

Looks like a great deal, especially now that all providers have free EU roaming (by law). ID used to have a terrible policy when it came to roaming abroad but now this looks like a very attractive offer

I was with ID for two months and the catch is - when you buy a bundle you also have to top up £5 and no matter how carefully you manage your bundle your £5 will magically disappear - expect your bundle to cost £5 more than they advertise.

Does anyone know if these can be used with an old style 2G handset ? - I know '3' block customers who do that, but was wondering if it worked the same with ID Mobile (as they use 3's network).

Up until an hour ago I would have recommended these guys. I ordered a sim for my wife and I but found that we couldn't get a signal at home. We emailed them to cancel within the 14 day cooling off period and received emails confirming our contracts had been cancelled and a reference number as proof.
However we've just found out today when I logged into our MSE credit club account that they have marked both my wife's and my credit files as being £1 in default. Why I have no idea, we never used the sim cards, in fact hers wasn't even punched out of the plastic card it comes in. We've not received a bill or any communication since cancelling.
Luckily I kept the emails as proof of cancellation. Needless to say two complaints have gone in asking for our credit files to be corrected and for recompense for the damage to our excellent credit ratings.
Maybe we are unlucky but my advice is avoid.

Ordered mine yesterday, one for partner today. Thanks again OP. :sunglasses:
Just for comparison this deal offers double the minutes less texts and a 2g network that is far superior to id mobile. If you need more data then this deal is good. If you need more mintues then the other deal is better!

If anyone uses them / gets this deal if you ever need customer service do it via FaceBook, I had the 6s deal about 18 months ago and found it was the easiest way to solve any issues (such as in my case getting the phone unlocked). Personally found the network fine round me as it is on 3 and round me only 3 and EE have any decent signal.

I used to have ID Mobile number, then I ported out the number to another provider to cut down the contract. I recently contacted their customer service and they told me that I could not ported back the number to ID Mobile.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I see!, thanx for that, as that for me therefore means NOT GOOD!. :-(
I'm currently on a £10 SIM ONLY thing, and I get a FULL 4GB Data for my headache! +Unlimited Text's + Unlimited Call's, and alllllll for next to nowt from Network 3.
So the OP's above with it's questionable 'cap' thing is wayyyyyy too expensive!, as that alone can/could kill me for nothing?. :-(
Hehehehehe, but, thanx for that heads up anyway. :-)

I switched a few months ago. No issues has such there than my number didn't carry over. Turns out it was an iPhone setting issue rather than ID but they helped me work through the settings. Great app to use for bills and usage so just switch if the deal is right for you as no better or worse than any other mobile provider and better value than most. Heat

This is not as good as the amazing Three deal, which is £9 per month, but possible £50 cashback from quidco, making under £5 per month. Includes unlimited calls and SMS plus 4gb data. Only things missing are "feel at home" and tethering allowance.

Ha found the Freedompop shill. Fpop should be considered a data only sim as the calling/sms is a complete joke, as such comparing the full service iD sim to data only could only be done by a) a **** or b) a shill. I've given you the benefit of the doubt on this one.
Was with fpop for half a year until enough **** built up to the point they were just a liabilty to have around even for their 200mb free service. Had the auto top-up turned off and they still charged me a few top ups. Send them a complaint about it and heard nothing back for a few days so i got my bank to refund those payments. A week later fpop emails me saying they'll refund the top-ups?? After switching to the free service for a few months they decided to randomly change my number and bam charged me another 5 pounds activation fee? I guess they don't want people settling into using the free service for too long so they pull tricks like this.
Banks should start releasing data on which phone services get the most charge backs, would be a nice metric to warn which companies to keep clear of.

I had this for my previous au pair. I agree with jeves, if you use a lot of data then you could very well end up paying £10 per month.
I got a plusnet sim for my current au pair. It is only 1gb of data but you get a warning text at 80% usage and can set the cap to £2 ie a maximum liability of £7/month instead of £10.

Decent network speeds, alright coverage in my area. Cheap costs, manageable app is pretty clear.
Only issue is, we were given 500mb x2 instead of 1gb. So we would get a 100% usage text at 500mb which meant we has used 50% of our data.

Found their CS pretty decent. Went through with Twitter talking to a few CS agents. Had to cancel my contract as I took it out for my ex when we were dating.
Was advised to ring them up. Took no more than 10 minutes to get a disconnect date, and further information. 28th of April is my cancel date. Very friendly agent on the phone.
Didn't bar the SIM at the time as my ex was still talking to me. But few days after I decided to get it barred, asked them via Twitter and they were happy to bar it for me without having to ring them up again.

I agree with you on that one. I have the same issue with my sons £5 sim. I'm always paying £10 a month. I made the mistake of letting him have the iD app on his phone and he purchased more data so it cost me £17 one month. So he doesn't have access to the app now. However I know that if I did the £10 sim he'd still use the £5 shockproof and I'd be paying £15 a month.

I'm with id on 1gb for £5 and have no real problems. I use my data manager to watch how much i use and have never gone over. I might try and change to this deal though.
Only downsidei have is that my deal is technically 500mb + a bonus 500mb (so not even 1gb). When i use up the first 500 i get a text saying I've used 100% of my data and will be charged £10 per 100mb (I'm capped at £5 extra) but I've never been charged the extra money. I doubt think their warning system takes account of bonus data .
I do recommend though. Cheap and uses 3. I was on 3 to begin with anyway so great coverage.

Actually, I've been with ID, for almost 2 years now, there customer service is no better or worse than any other top providers, the only time I needed to call them (because their app is the best I've ever used for a network) was to change from one deal to another. The only problem I found was that when you do want to switch deal and keep your number, you need to switch to another network and back again, which is a pain, but not the end of the world.
Reception has been as good as or better than the Mrs O2 (when we went to Wales). It does say no tethering, but I have and never been charged extra. Recently been abroad in India, never got charged for receiving SMS messages.

It's iD mobile and months are calendar months. If you take a contract now, your first fiver will give you the rest of this month instead of whole month so be careful of that when it comes to cancelling.
Customer service is also trash.
I'm voting every iD mobile deal down. Freedompop despite it's drawbacks is a much better service.

I tried Freedompop for a while before switching to ID mobile. I had issues with their app which you must use to make calls and texts. I didn't receive voice messages and only occasionally received texts. I found their customer service very poor and only contactable via email with a 48 hr turn around. I couldn't wait to leave and switched to ID mobile with no problems. Freedom also charge £4.99 if you want to port your number into them.

If you go for the shockproof one you can set a £5 cap minimum, if you do use the 1.5 GB you can then only use a further 50 MB and that costs you the £5. My son received the 100% text you and stopped using the internet get but still ended up using the £5 cap so essentially costing £10 a month. I appreciate that is my sons fault but trying to highlight you can use the £5 cap without even knowing it.
