They don't profit on HDD space.. Just buy any cheap as you like external HDD and plug it in via USB fam

But the additional cost to the console is greater than buying it separately....
The thing is the console doesn't need a bigger hard drive. The vast majority of the population are fine with 500gb and a lot of issues are to do with poorly compressed games. At launch almost every game filled a bluray... thesse days its nearer about half their capacity. But us lot that buy cheap games it doesn't work. The simple solution is to just keep a couple games you play regularly installed then install others as you play them.

What I'm saying is consoles should have large hard drives as standard. Buying another hard drive isn't happening for me on principal alone as its too much money and effort for money is better spent on games.

That logic is flawed. Increasing hard drive capacities for 2.5" drives like the one in the One adds significant costs. But at least they are linear. So you're saying you'd rather them release a 2tb model with an expensive 2tb 2.5" hard drive at a much higher cost, than just spend £50 more on an external one you have total freedom with on a bargain basement 500gb model? There's a reason people complain profusely about Sonys method of dealing with space.
Edit: Cheapest 2.5" 2tb drive I can see is around 90 quid. You can get a 4tb external 3.5" for that... and I know what I'd rather.

Was tempted but have loads of stuff still to play and low hard drive space. I only have 500gb, and don't have all of the games I own installed. If the manufacturers (MS and Sony) didn't profiteer so much on the hard disk space, I'd probably spend more on games.

mste I have about 30 games I'm active downloads on 360 plus more but they won't show up as to many games already in active downloads lol. The stress when delted them all .kept trying charge me to add back to active downloads . I rarely play mu consoles I remember the days on 360 when just had three games lol and was on it all time

You shouldn't have to invest in a hard drive as it adss hidden costs to your consoles original price. I will not upgrade on principal.

It appears to me that they are making money on the hard drives, and you cannot fault them for being business like, my point was;
I'm a tight wad so bought a smaller HD size as it was cheaper, but 500mb is measly. If they took it on the chin and gave 1tb as standard and 2tb as the better model, I would be buying more games right now.

Is it me or does doom guns have no kick . sound effect I mean . I'm using earphone to speakers p;lugged in. just expected a bit more ump when shooting
