it will be fast enough but i think most models use microsd cards now so wouldn't be any use on those models

I'm totally lost now when it comes to memory cards and specs. I managed to pick up some Sandisk 32gb Extreme MicroSDHC UHS-I class 10 U3 4K thinking they were supposed to be fast. Put one in my phone to use as extended internal storage and the phone said "This SD card appears to be slow" !!! They were bought from a shop too (not eBay etc.) so should be genuine. Who knows. According to the blurb on the packet - Extreme speed. Hmmm...

I doubt any phone can make use of u3 speeds

well they are fast enough to be used in gopros so it depends really
did you format in phone?
cards also have different random speeds which phones like (though that cards is supposed to be pretty good tbh)
the slow one in the range is 'ultra' which sounds pretty fast, dont think they'll be branding them 'sandisk junk' 'sandisk meh' 'sandisk average' 'sandisk overpriced' anytime soon though!

Yes, brilly, I did format it in the phone as you have to for it to become "internal" storage. This is the new feature they introduced with Android Marshmallow apparently. Don't get me wrong - it all seemed to work as it should have. The card is being recognised etc. So I'm not worried. It just puzzled me why the phone said it was slow. If what goNz017 says is correct then it's too ruddy fast! Typical. I would've thought; like USB; the phone would scale back to whatever it's fastest speed would be. Perhaps that's what it has done?
It does say on the packaging that it's designed for Android/phones/cameras etc. I have seen them in Tesco now - exactly the same packaging except it has a "V30" symbol (whatever that is) instead of the class 10 logo. Another new speed maybe???

v30 is some other crappy rating thing, minimum 30MB/s for video which the extreme already did so its just a relabel really
after the card said it appears to be slow... was it actually slow?
(there is also going to be an appspeed rating at some point)

Ahh, I see. Thanks for that explanation. To be honest brilly, I'm only now beginning to get my head around my very first smartphone so I have no basis for comparison. I've not done much on the phone yet but nothing appears to be misbehaving! I'm struggling because even with a manual, everything assumes you already know what you're doing with regards to Android.
Even putting in contacts is throwing me. I can't work out why some of the contacts have little padlock symbols. I'm thinking it's like my old dumb phone and they are contacts you can't delete - like network CS support and voicemail etc. It's just there's two of everything. One without a padlock (which you can delete) and one with a lock, that you can't.

if there is 2 of everything sounds like maybe showing sim contacts and phone stored contacts.
i only have phone contacts so 1 set, you should be able to choose which set to display from the 3 dots menu when you open up contacts.
yeah 'instruction manual' ... thanks for buying the phone - heres our website BYEEEE

Yeah, exactly. Hehe! Google isn't much help either as there's just too many "answers" and it's never your 'exact' model or problem. Just boils down to experimenting for myself and hoping I don't goof up. That's why I love this site and it's helpful members.
