price knocked down 50 quid, just the grey colour. saved me using more vouchers as i had 700 to spend. still too much money for most people i would imagine. s8 plus is £722

I don't know of any 'extra' credit checks that very do. It's a simple one that gives an instant decision, but if you have poor credit history then that's a different story. With regards taking 20% off you at a later date is pretty impossible if you sensibly use the interest free option and of course pay it off. Used them before for a few items and ended up paying exactly what your supposed to.
Have heard rumours about return problems, but that's not uncommon anywhere. Hope they give me commission for this

Very is crap in honouring codes. Last year i tried ordering an S7 Edge using a new account. Neither I, my wife, my sister or my dad successfully passed their credit check..and that was after initially being able to order the phone.

It's not a true 5.8" screen - or at least, the aspect ratio is different, so the actual area of the screen is probably no bigger than your 5.2" screen.
misterleoni
18 Apr 17#75
Funny how different people are - I'd much prefer if all phones had fixed storage tiers. My current phone is 32GB with a card slot and I just find that dissection of memory among apps annoying. At least the Pixel brings the option for those who prefer that sort of setup though, since only really Apple offered this before.
misterleoni
18 Apr 17#76
I think to a large part it is nothing to do with looks or specs - if you're an 'iPhone person' or an 'Android person' the results will be different. Each comes with services and features people prefer. If you like Android and iOS equally though then the S8 is very attractive.
Rimi
18 Apr 17#77
It is huge, you will see. I have it in hand in MVC 2017. It would not fit any pocket easily and really not practical. And S8+ is like a tablet...
durhamdurham2017

the phone is just way to expensive. it should be the price of the s7 when that came out. greedy samsung, i bet they have much lower pre-orders than last year. will stick to my s7
Rimi
18 Apr 17#79
iPhone is more advanced because of iOS.
-Android cannot match speed.
-Android cannot match security.
-Android cannot match privacy.
-Android cannot match ease of use.
-Android can only provide paper specs, excuses for lag, hyped unused features...
I use both:Samsung S7 and iPhone 7, and as much as I love Samsung, iPhone beats it..
Jay080286
18 Apr 17#80
Pretty much the same size as my S6 Edge.
What phone you currently you got?
Rimi
18 Apr 17#81
Well, a bit bigger than S7 Edge, but nothing to compare to S7.Had it in hand in MVC 2017 so know the feeling. Many will be disappointed and I would never buy such tall phone-NEVER. Currently i am using Samsung Galaxy S7 as a work phone and iPhone 7 as private.
misterleoni
18 Apr 17#82
My biggest concern with the S8, having played with one, is vulnerability. I was always petrified of breaking the S7 Edge but the S8 has even less bezel, and you just can't buy decent curved glass screen protectors. I was also often accidentally catching UI elements with the fatty part of my hand even right up until I sold it three weeks ago, so hopefully false touch tech has improved with the S8.
As far as pure hardware goes, it is undeniably very attractive but I think Samsung phones are losing a bit of practicability in the pursuit of looks. If it works for them though, who's to criticise it.

18 Apr 17#91
I didn't say it was practical  look at my comments earlier. The Plus model also has its scanner in a completely impractical place as you have to juggle to reach it (unless you have long fingers or hold your phone halfway up. I also type with my left hand, so I'd have to reach *over* the camera lens to reach it with either model. It seems like Samsung didn't want to remove or move their name from the centre of the back of the phone, so they opted to put the scanner in a daft position instead.
Prosamuraiman
18 Apr 171#92
You have provided a list of subjective points, not actual facts.
Here's a short list of factual benefits of android that normal people actually care about:
1. Can support external memory cards to boost memory
2. Can support wireless charging
3. Supports drag and drop of media files
4. Supports the personalisation of home screens
5. Native support for bluetooth file transfer between devices without apps
6. A multitude of devices and designs with various features to choose from
Rimi
18 Apr 17#93
Fingerprint scanner is real nonsense. Camera lens will be always dirty as you can't see where it is and many times will touch lens...
Rimi
18 Apr 17#94
LOL!
All un needed features, non the less. I am not Apple fan, as using Samsung for 8 years. But honestly, iOS beats Android to dust.
Prosamuraiman
18 Apr 171#95
Unnecessary features you say - certainly so for the iPhone demographic...
Saying you're not an Apple fan doesn't make it necessarily so...
misterleoni
18 Apr 171#96
I'm not an Apple demographic as I use both devices. Even before I ever used an iPhone I stopped using Bluetooth file transfer though - the last time I used it in earnest was with the Nokia N95. Wireless charging is something I tried to get into but found a bit flawed, and its kind of become redundant now we have Quick Charge. My G5 for example charges enough to last me most of the day in the time I'm in the shower and getting ready.
File transfer is another thing I completely moved away from other than on very rare occasions, and in this instance it was chiefly whilst using Android devices. I now use Netflix, Spotify and Sky Q - among other services - so I've very rarely any need to drag a file over. This is more true on Android than even iOS, since it caches and uploads files in the background much more effectively than iOS - e.g. For Google Photos and Dropbox.
Drag and drop support on Android is a bit deceptive, since it assumes everyone uses a PC; on a Mac you have to install an app to do any file transfers from Android devices (and it isn't a very reliable app). On a PC you have to have iTunes installed to drag and drop content over to iPhone apps like VLC, but it's really no hardship, and you don't have to use iTunes for anything else. I don't really use these features anyway but for anyone who wondered, it's possible on both devices.

All this Android vs IOS stuff is funny, same old rubbish from fanboys. I had iPhones for a few years but not had one since the iPhone 4 back in 2011, been Android ever since and wouldn't return, the whole closed Apple eco-system is not for me, I like to be able to do what I want to do with my phone, not what Apple wants me to do, its as simple as that really.
As for which is better, well the stats speak for themselves, Android market share Q4 last year was over 81%, IOS share was 17%. Says it all really.
Rimi
18 Apr 17#98
Feel sorry for you....
misterleoni
18 Apr 17#99
You've not made any points there in fairness, and all you've done is make yourself look like an Android fanboy (ironically). Does it really matter what each person prefers? I think both have their benefits.
ajavaid92
18 Apr 17#100
To be fair, I wouldn't be comparing market shares like that... Android is sold on many devices by different manufacturers, whereas iOS is only sold by one manufacturer... a fairer comparison would be market share held by specific companies, i.e. Apple or Samsung...

OrribleHarry
19 Apr 17#105
You can use adopted storage though giving you the choice.
misterleoni
19 Apr 17#106
It's not the same though - adopted storage means that even with the fastest and highest quality SD card you're still going to have apps load slower than with internal storage - which is much faster and higher quality than any micro SD.
SD cards are much more prone to corruption too - particularly when hammered constantly with something like adopted storage. Samsung don't natively support adopted storage because of its complications, so you have to hack it onto the device if you want to use it. SD card manufacturers always offer long warranties but this doesn't help if you lose all your data because the card breaks.

I got an email randomly from them.
"I'm pleased to say that we’ll dispatch your order before the release date, as we intend for you to have it on its release day.
I’ve checked and can see that Samsung S8 UK SIM-Free Smartphone - Orchid Grey is eligible for Release Day Delivery. As long as you select Standard or One-Day Delivery to a UK postcode, we'll dispatch your order before the release date for its intended arrival on its release day.
To confirm that your order is eligible for Release Day Delivery, look for “Get it on its release day” in green, next to the delivery methods at checkout.
Release Day Delivery orders must be placed by the applicable pre-order cut-off date - you must select Standard Delivery no later than 4 days before release day, or One-Day no later than 2 days before release day.

It doesn't look like that that's the case.
Wolf0x
25 Apr 17#115
How not? There's nothing to suggest otherwise and Amazon has already said they'll dispatch it for release day (the 28th) so we should get an email Wednesday or Thursday at latest.
anouj
25 Apr 17#116
I have a feeling it may not be the 28th too because all the other Amazon sites such as France list the 28th clearly on their respective pages. I've emailed them and apparently they are investigating and getting back to me soon.
themiso
25 Apr 171#117
well it's 25th and they don't even have a release date, I would expect no stock too, so it doesn't look like they will be shipping in a day or two (for 28th delivery).
Spoke to customer service few times and all I got is that they are waiting for stock from supplier and than they will update the website.
I won't preorder something on amazon uk again as seems like other places are always better.
Wolf0x
25 Apr 17#118
Hmm, based upon what you've both said I've got to agree with you now, I'm not particularly hopeful.

Just in case either of you are curious I got in touch with Amazon, and the helpful CS person I chatted to said that on their system the phone is scheduled to be received by them before the 28th. This is what i get from Amazon : "I'm afraid to say but we can't tell you exact date when this item would be in stock. For being an online retailer we only used to deliver the Manufacturer items to our customers.
Here I would only suggest you to please wait for few business days more. Because we will deliver this item on First Come First Serve basis and would like to assure you that the parcel will deliver you whenever the item would appear in stock. "

26 Apr 17#123
I finally got an actual answer as I got through to Dublin. They are indeed giving them out in the order they received orders. They have started sending them out but they are having shortages of stocks so just sending them out as soon as they receive them. The next amount of stock is arriving on the 29th and then being sent out. So basically its just delayed. You may get your order before then, it was the 29th for me.

I've decided to cancel my order and wait for iphone 8. Very disappointment by this launch, 8 days early for some, release day for other, I preordered on Amazon and they have no stock at all. Seems very unfair to me.. If Samsung is unable to deliver phones, they can keep them.

Do you mind telling me when you pre-ordered? Trying to estimate how much longer I'll be waiting.

When did you order? I ordered 4th of April and still haven't heard anything back from Amazon. I hope I don't have to wait that long too.

Asked again as I find this hard to believe so got this :
Ahalya: On checking, I see that we are unable to confirm this now. I have checked and see that we have requested the item with our suppliers,
And we expect the order to be dispatched and delivered between July 2017 - 5 July 2017
Ahalya: Please be informed that we would have dispatched the item if we have this item in stock.
I can completely understand the importance of your item.
Me: I understand but it would only be fair to inform the customers that estimated shipping is june-july early, not after me sending 10s of messages looking for an answer.
as this is massive delay

I did too, being sent on 2 may and delivery 9-11 may, so about 2-3 weeks after most people got it elsewhere, but it is worth the saving money

Pre-order Price Guarantee: order now and if the Amazon.co.uk price decreases between the time you place your order and the release date, you'll be charged the lowest price.
Wait for the Mi 6. Better and will be less than half the price of this. :sunglasses:
But good for you.
He who dares and all that..
?
Have heard rumours about return problems, but that's not uncommon anywhere. Hope they give me commission for this
10% off is a good deal really albeit for new customers.
Heat for the Amazon find.
enter the code below at the checkout.
LG7CA
10% off electrical and 20% off every other department.
This is the only one I can get
Over 18's only. Cannot be used on sale, digital download products, in conjunction with any other offers or on financial services products and delivery charges.
No dispatch date yet, hopefully it should arrive on 20th April or Not
Has to be one of the worst marketing for a mobile!
If you're going to boast about the very 20% off deal, then at least post the "generic" code or even better post the deal on here!
Voted hot for this post!
A few days later an email said to ring cs who asked for details such as passport numbers and other identification questions but still failed to pass their credit check. Bit of a farce company really.
Its nearly brick size...Loved Samsung but would never buy such large phone, which wouldn't fit my pocket.
5.2" is best size for me.
What phone you currently you got?
As far as pure hardware goes, it is undeniably very attractive but I think Samsung phones are losing a bit of practicability in the pursuit of looks. If it works for them though, who's to criticise it.
Here's a short list of factual benefits of android that normal people actually care about:
1. Can support external memory cards to boost memory
2. Can support wireless charging
3. Supports drag and drop of media files
4. Supports the personalisation of home screens
5. Native support for bluetooth file transfer between devices without apps
6. A multitude of devices and designs with various features to choose from
All un needed features, non the less. I am not Apple fan, as using Samsung for 8 years. But honestly, iOS beats Android to dust.
Saying you're not an Apple fan doesn't make it necessarily so...
As for which is better, well the stats speak for themselves, Android market share Q4 last year was over 81%, IOS share was 17%. Says it all really.
Thanks.
EDIT: Canceled the order with Samsung... Have to be calm and wait for the actual phone I want - Plus I caught the Amazon order when it had the £57 off.
I contacted amazon to see whether I should cancel this order and get it elsewhere or will they be shipping soon and only got generic reply ''To know exactly about the incident, I have contacted our product group department and mentioned that there is no information available regarding the release date of the items. .....I would humbly request you to wait for 24 to 48 hours for the update. ''
Voting is based on so many subjective factors that you cannot categorically state that just "Samsung haters" are viewing similar submitted "Deals" negatively.

Spoke to customer service few times and all I got is that they are waiting for stock from supplier and than they will update the website.
I won't preorder something on amazon uk again as seems like other places are always better.
I've decided to get in touch with them and see what they say this time as I'm away on holiday shortly after the 28th so I may cancel and purchase elsewhere, who would have thought a company the size of Amazon would be having these issues.
Here I would only suggest you to please wait for few business days more. Because we will deliver this item on First Come First Serve basis and would like to assure you that the parcel will deliver you whenever the item would appear in stock. "
I just hope it comes on Friday.
So the email goes:
