No 4k or hdmi 2.0 in this one. Wish someone knew how to unlock nowtv box and turn it into original Roku.

​Well you can live in stone age, not me. Nvidia tv box, xbox, mi TV player, xbox, Google Chrome cast, Amazon TV are all available in 4k versions.

​Maybe someone can make a business out of reflashing them like we have reflashed game boxes and phones.

Also if you already have a 4k Smart TV, it is better to use inbuilt app player, than this bandwidth and picture quality reducing gizmo from previous years.

I have a better analogy. ​You have water coming to your house in 5cm diameter pipe. Some plumber comes and puts a 2.5 cm pipe thinking you would not notice. Next day your shower pressure goes down and your upper floors can hardly get any water. Also forgot to say now new tv boxes from BT, sky, virgin are 4k enabled as well so I would not turn my lion into a donkey. :smile:

I bought a Roku 3, 2 months ago,

The Roku 2 is the same device just without the bells & whistles remote of the Roku 3,

The Roku 3 is completely useless, it crashes on average 10 times a day,

About 3 to 4 times every time i switch it on,

I have done factory resets, delete apps / reinstall apps, unlpug plug back in about 200 times in 3 weeks,

The apps on this device are not full android apps,

For example,

Channel 4 app, you can't watch live TV on it,

You Tube app you can't see comments on videos or add comments,

No access to a keyboard or mouse,

Have to input passwords multiple time up to 4 in a day in Netflix,

Using a remote and on screen keyboard which is a joke,

It is massively laggy and just hangs and crashes all of the time,

With no loading icon so you wait 2 minutes or 20 you don't know whether it has crashed or not,

It also reboots itself regularly for no reason,

I have seen that Roku animation far to many times now,

You will probably will as well,

Not surprising as this box has now been discontinued,

It is 2013 technology with a dual core processor running at 700 Mhz,

With 256mb of memory to little to run smoothly,

Don't waste your money and let companies like Roku get away with peddling old slow outdated technology,

Do your research on You Tube for android box,

It will cost around £50 for a good one,

It is capable of streaming 4K,

2 GB memory and 16 GB of storage,

You will get 8 core processor with FULL android 6.0 Marshmallow,

Giving you access to Google Play Store,

And an internet browser,

I can also fit a wired keyboard & mouse to the box so it is like a mini PC on my TV,

All the apps are full android app with full functionality,

Don't waste you money on this box don't believe the hype and adverts they are not fit for purpose,

No, your original analogy was that if you have a great 4k tv with good apps then don't bother with this, as it doesn't do 4k or have good apps.

Actually I have three of these in my Kids bedrooms connected to my gigabit Lan, the Catchup and streaming apps are faster and way more responsive than those on most older smart TV's. The kids TV's aren't 4k (yet) so this does the trick just fine streaming the kids movies and TV from my 16Tb Plex server
My Main TV is a 55" Samsung 4k...I use the Native Amazon/Netflix apps for 4k content on that.
With 2 Servers, 9 PC's,2 Mac's, 3 Xbox's, 3 Playstations including a Pro in my home I think you'd struggle to find a less stone age household :smirk:

I have a roku 3 and its faultless, never once seen it crash!

please dont take my comment as a criticism, it was to rebut superhans0113 and his poor knowledge of technology, and that sometimes the cpu and memory isnt a factor if it has additional hardware assistance.

Roku 2/3 + Plex - hardly use Kodi anymore...
