I've been looking for a discount to happen for awhile on plex and not really seen anything since Christmas. Personally I use plex all the time and although I would like to pay less think it's a deal as they hardly ever do offers

you could script this, not sure what CLI program for vids, but ask for the total length and if under 10 then MV the file to another folder. doesn't quite work if you have trailer files though

Personally don't see any feature that would justify me paying that much for premium. The free version is amazing as it is.

Something missing would be ability to drop any movie under say 10 mins and then it wouldn't catalogue movies that are not movies i.e. Trailer or samples

Anyone got any suggestions for shares? Used to use uberplex but that got shut down?

I tend to just want to send things around my home so have an old netbook running lubuntu and install samba and that allows all my windows and android devices to access any videos downloaded. but yeah appreciate supporting the devs if you use it a lot but I like to find ways around it!

I can send h265 files from an old netbook to a laptop connected to a projector in my bedroom and will play fine as no need for transcoding

bought lifetime just as they were increasing the price a couple of years back. you can browse to the mobile site and get out of buying stuff but although I don't tend to buy into stuff thought I'd help the devs out as I use it so much. also use the photo sync which is great and also have used the sync feature which is cool. new photo timeline is good although needs to be better and should've been here a while back but they seem to be adding features all the time. definitely worth buying if you use the ecosystem just to keep the devs ticking over. like the plexpass repo as well as we seem to have a month or 2 of new features

So glad I got a bunch of Lifetime passes for £30 each a couple years ago.

Been a lifetime member now for years. I like getting the releases early for the new features, the trailers option the stuff it does with my music. They keep building on new abilities the cloud based interests me but haven't as already setup at home but likely will one day and the new link with homerun also might be my next thing as my tv tuner is starting to pack in.

I swear that was standard price?

That's the standard price. The discount is because you are buying 12 months.

I have sonar rename files as they download anyway, so never get an issue with plex.

Their media scan is name based alone - which 2 minute "Train" movie would you prefer it to have matched?
I understand what PLex is, just wondering what this deal consisted of.. what exactly you get for £xxx for nnn months .
I dont know what a "GooleH' is either, it sounds painful ?

Is the paid for version worth it first up i'm just looking to play music though an Echo or GooleH'
Can you keep your own file system structure or does it need setting up for it?

New to Plex? You tell it where your media is and it has a best-effort go at detecting what it is, mostly from titles. So I say "this folder contains movies" and it scans the files within. It doesn't work 100% (I had a 2 minute train.mp4 file which it detected as the movie Train, that's 1 hour 34 minutes) but it works 95% of the time so is worth having over not having. It maintains its own database so the only thing you might have to do is rename some music files if they're not picked up correctly.

Plex = video streaming service that you can run at home on your own devices and with your own media. More useful than playing the files themselves as it'll convert stuff on the fly if it detects your device can't handle the format.
This deal = 1 year's subscription to Plex Pass which gives you premium features, as for what they are and whether they're worth it, idk, I use the free version.

Plex is the greatest thing since sliced bread but the free features are perfectly fine for me.
Voted hot as it's a great deal.

you can use it for free on phones and tablets if your receiving device can play the file natively and go to the website rather than use the app?

Been this cheap for a while, and was discounted months ago too. Still not a horrible price if you get as much use out of it as I do.

Tempting, had it about a year and plan to keep it... Just not sure how long for.

Presumably that's a file you recorded yourself, so should be in a library of type personal media. Guide: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200265246-Personal-Media-Movies?mobile_site=true
