Looks like a lot of oven for the money although the reviews are a bit mixed

With reviews I always consider the obvious, if you dont like it you are much more likely to post a bad review than if you like it.
Way more good reviews than bad, so I recon a small batch of units were faulty and this is a good bit of kit.
Picking mine up tonight to use up my £95 of vouchers and some of my nectar points for the balance.

If you want a flat bed microwave, argos have one for £69.99. It doesn't have a drop forward door (just the usual hinged door) but I suppose it depends on what you are after.

This is a Combi Microwave oven with grill not just a microwave.
Just to help anyone with the 'free knife' claim, the Panasonic site says:
"purchase of the NN-DF386 may be eligible for the following promotions (subject to verification):
"Claiming: Japanese Knife Set
"Purchase Period: 12/04/2017 - 09/05/2017 | Claim by 31/07/2017"
"T&Cs...
"7. To claim this promotion for your purchase, please complete the online claim form (INSERT LINK) and upload a copy of your full purchase receipt (not deposit receipt) and an image of the product barcode, which can be found on the side of your product box (showing the model number and serial number) by the claim deadline. Applications made after this date will not be eligible for the Promotion. Please ensure your purchase receipt includes the model purchased and the date of purchase. I have a different Panasonic combi Microwave, grill and convection oven. Cooks food and defrosts better than most cheaper microwaves, but I think eventually the inverter thing inside them goes (can get replacements on ebay for £30-40) and then get it fixed.

Read a lot of negative reviews about the budget Panasonic microwave/grill combo I have burning out within weeks, but I found it well built, I'm rocking on for two years no bother.
Do you still get the knife offer if you buy from John Lewis?

Doesn't look like it. No promotions appeared for John Lewis when I checked on the Panasonic promotions page.

I think its a decent thing for price,
but build quality nothing like old Panasonic quality, but not many appliances even though showing same badge have the same quality
bought this for mum , as she has a old Panasonic microwave its big got to be about 20yes old or maybe more, when first built, as getting new kitchen.
She not impressed with it looks better on bench, shes keep old one in utility room just in case,

For anyone considering this as a replacement for a Panasonic NN-A554W (from 2008) I would counsel against it as it doesn't get the baked potatoes and frozen pizzas crispy enough. The reason being that even though both are marketed as 3 in one combi microwaves, this model doesn't have a convection + microwave mode, which is what does the job of getting both so crispy.
Here's the suggestion for making a baked potato in this microwave:-
6-7 minutes on high, on the flat surface, then
move to the wire tray for 7-8 minutes under the grill.
The fact that this difference is only made clear in the manual and in reviews is a real shame, as it has a higher RRP than the successors to the NN-A554W- £199, and on the face of it has the same features.

How much space do you save by a door that drops down as opposed to swinging to the side? :/

Having a door that drops down really made a difference to me.

There were cheaper Panasonic Combis that used the Halogen element as the grill/on Combi and got bad reviews - when you bake or grill it burns everything on top, and can even leave the middle uncooked, depending on temperature. Not sure if this one is the same.

Here's my experience of (three) Amazon-bought Panasonic Combis: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/customer-reviews/RL6ZTSI9KNWTW/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_rvw_ttl?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B007Q1276Q Other reviews for this model, and similar ones in the range, were pretty bad.
The more expensive Panasonic Combis avoid this completely. This is the one I ended up with - which has a Quartz Grill and fan oven: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/Grill-Oven-Microwaves/Panasonic-Premium-Combination-Litre-1000-Watt-White/B00F9A6AY6
