It doesn't say but I presume this is the Chinese version so no Band 20, still a good deal though. The Band 20 version with 32GB storage has been £80 before cashback though.
I think they all work fine globally
Only issue they might not support 4G on some networks
I might be wrong
But mine works fine

It's China version flashed with Global ROM by the seller. Seller's other Redmi 4A listings. Global Versions say it in the title and is also indicated over the primary image. Whereas China version say "Original" in title, and have "Global ROM" tagged over primary image.

It'll be ready to use out of the box. Although it's probably recommended to reflash it. According to their FAQ, it is Official Global ROM: However, because they flash it themselves, there's a potential for the seller to add their own apps (adware etc). Some are known to do this but that might be more down to using custom vendor ROMs and mightn't be an issue since it's an Official ROM.

dreadzone101
23 Apr 17#19
They're the same in terms of hardware except for B20 support and will both be installed with Global ROM. Table of differences which the seller has in description. China model has China ROM factory pre-installed hence why they need to open the box to install Global ROM themselves. However, 'Global Version' linked in comment #3 will already be factory pre-installed with Global ROM hence sealed box. It isn't essential if you don't need B20 but it might be advisable for peace of mind regarding software.

For those querying over the OP's Phone Deal compatibility with the UK, etc etc.
The OP's Deal is for the 'Original', yes, it will work in the UK (but you'll NOT get the Band 20, that some 4G Networks require, that's all?).
The 'Global' version of this same Phone will also work in this Country, but is comparable with everything! (as it DOES support Band 20, that all the UK 4G Networks support!).
So the Global version preferable to that of the Original, or whatever?.
But that's a minor really?, as not everyone is requiring a 4G-Enabled anything in the first place? + a lot of UK Networks are able to function plenty well enough without the Band 20 inclusion regardless?, so ..... )
It all comes down to personal preference. :-)

Personally I went for the 4 with the snapdragon 625 (not the Helios x20 as its battery life is a lot worse) and 3gb of ram, more expensive at £125 though, having used a 4xx snapdragon before it was just a little sluggish in places (haven't tried the 430 though), plus the 4100 mah battery means the phone lasts 3-4 days fairly easily with my usage, much better than the s6 etc I have had before. Good price all the same for a good phone that will do a lot better than similarly priced phones.

Just received this hanset on Friday, I purchased this for my mother who wanted to play Pokemon Go. Originally I had given her my old LG G2 (Game loads, but GPS is useless), then I purchased 2 (reasonably cheap) handsets found on HotUKDeals, the Leagoo M8 (Game loads, but GPS is useless) and the BluBoo Dual (Game loads, but GPS is useless), however I am very pleased to report that no only is this handset perfect for Pokemon Go, but its it bloody marvelous in build quality and performance for the money. My family are all very impressed with this handset.

If your going to buy a cheap Chinese phone it's probably worth checking on line reviews just to see if the phone has hidden malware. My 1st phone was a Cubot P9. Great cheap phone until hidden malware activated and Chinese pop up adverts completely took over the phone.Rooting had no effect.

Rooting is just rooting. You need to install a new rom.

24 Apr 17#53
think it'd be a bit of a downgrade. slower processor and worse camera. battery life would amaze you though.
I've gone from a g2 to a Moto x play to a redmi note 3 se. i think if you want something comparable take a look at either the redmi 4 prime or a Redmi note 3 or 4. all probably have worse cameras. all slightly slower chipsets but don't think day to day you'd notice. all would have better battery life and get updates for a time, the 4 more than the 3. go for 3gb versions as you'll find miui uses more ram than other ROMs
toiletseatlicker
24 Apr 17#54
Yeah I tried and bricked it. That's when I found out that the P9 was perhaps the only phone that didn't have custom roms written for it.
Stu.C
24 Apr 17#55
When dealing with AliExpress, IMHO it is more important to chose your seller. All the sellers load a new ROM for international sales, and this is one of the reasons you should buy from a reputable seller. Remember, AliExpress is more like buying from Ebay than Amazon. With regard to the current offer linked here, the seller is Dreami, which is a reputable seller.

25 Apr 17#67
At the bottom it lists the LTE bands supported, and 20 isn't there. If you need it for 4G, this phone isn't for you. Also it states that its 'open box'. I suspect this means it has been opened so the seller can install the global rom. This is a decent seller, so it wouldn't be a problem for me. I'd still opt for this, as double storage for a tenner or so would be the better option for me.
sb170
25 Apr 17#68
Could the ROM be replaced ie the global version from xiaomi
dreadzone101
25 Apr 17#69
Check comments #6 and #19. If it says 'Global Version' in the title and over the primary image it's the B20 model. On the table of differences it's called "International Version" but Xiaomi label it as 'Global Version' on the box. The ones that have "Global ROM OTA Update" over the primary image, and also say only "original" in the title, rather than "original Global", are on the table of differences as "Chinese Version". They are flashed with Global ROM by the seller because Chinese non B20 model is pre-installed with China ROM, hence why it says 'opened box' on the table.
sb170
25 Apr 17#70
Thanks, i understand all that , my question is if your worried about a hacked ROM being installed by the seller when it arrives could we install the global ROM direct from xiaomi ourselves so it's definitely clean.
dreadzone101
25 Apr 17#71
Yeah you can reflash the official ROM easily enough. It may require unlocking the bootloader first though. Download page here for official Global ROM. This will only be an issue/worry if you were to get the Chinese version though since it's only that which will have been opened by the seller. The 'Global Version' however, will be sealed and already pre-installed with the official Global ROM.
sb170
25 Apr 17#72
Thanks, unless i can find a good price on a 32gb global version i will go for the global ROM one for about £72 from dreami
dreadzone101
25 Apr 17#73
Dreami's listings for China version with Global ROM are for 16GB only. Their 32GB listings like the one you have linked in comment #62 are all Global Version and have B20.
sb170
25 Apr 17#74
That's what i thought but if you read the FAQ on the listing it says opened and global ROM installed so it contradicts the global version statement on the picture, we have to assume that it's been opened and it's the global ROM, if it arrives sealed with b20 then that's a bonus.
dreadzone101
25 Apr 17#75
I'm fairly certain it will be sealed and have B20. I think that they updated a listing that was previously for the China Version but forgot to change that part or else copied and pasted that section without realising. This link is their 16GB Global Version. In the description, the table is not the same as the other and instead uses the proper name "Global Version" rather than "International". The listing is advertised as "Global Version" in title and has it tagged in blue over the image, which the table says it should. The 32GB listing has the same tagging and title. So either both the image and title are incorrect or just the FAQ.
