DC40 Animal is a Dyson Ball™ upright vacuum cleaner for powerful all-round dirt and pet hair removal. With Ball™ technology, it has a streamlined machine profile and turns on the spot – steering easily around furniture, obstacles and into difficult places. Specifically besigned for homes with pets.
Its self-adjusting cleaner head maintains optimal contact with every floor type, reducing air leaks and retaining suction power – even on hard floors.
Dyson cyclones capture more dirt than any other. Dc40 animal has radial root cyclone technology with remodelled airways to maximise suction power. Like all dyson vacuum cleaners it doesn't lose suction.
The Dyson V6 Animal Cordless comes with an additional tool specifically designed to remove pet hair from carpets and furniture. It also features a wider motorised cleaner head that is suitable for all floor types. With its digital motor V6, the Dyson vacuum cleaner will give you the exceptional suction power so you can get the job done quickly and effectively.
The dyson v6 animal sucks up as much dust as even a corded vacuum. Its wider motorised cleaner head covers more of every floor type. And it comes equipped with an extra dyson-engineered tool for removing pet hair.
2 tier radial™ cyclones capture the most fine dust.

Hi the Dc40 is brilliant and we still can't believe how much it gets up from the carpet. We also have the v6 which is good for cars and crumbs but nowhere near as much suction as the dc40 and doesn't last that long on full power either. Personally I'd go for the dc40 hope this helps

Just looked at my online receipt that was emailed through to me by JL and it states that it includes a 5 year guarantee, not a 2 year as previously stated...!!!

Picked one up from John Lewis today (DC40 Animal upright) after ordering it online - delighted with it so far and of course the added warranty of buying from JL...

They should ask for the voucher back or take off the equivalent amount from the refund

Great deal (DC40 animal), was apprehensive about getting one at first but to the risk. Also TopCashback are offering cash back as well. You still get the voucher from Argos.

I've been waiting for the Animal DC40 to be reduced, so annoyed.
Literally got a Miele C2 Cat and Dog Powerline from John Lewis for £204.95 two days ago. I've used it on a small room to test it out. There's no way I can send that back now, is there??

I bought the normal V6, not the animal with the 12 month interest free credit at direct with dyson.
First impressions are good when its running in max. Only in this mode it's like a normal vacuum, but it only lasts 5 minutes! 5 minutes with a 3 hour charge..
In normal mode it's weak. It's not even close to my wired Miele vacuum. I think this is awesome for 1-2 bed flats. If you just want to do a spot of vacuuming in a house its also good. It's not a replacement for a proper vacuum in a large house.

I was about to ask whats preferred with a shark or the v6? I know the shark is cheaper and gets great reviews but is it really better than dyson?
Iv got the V6 and a 2 Bed house use it in every room its brill because I don't have to plug it in to use it meaning i can hoover a lot more frequently than a plug in because im lazy and cba plugging it in

Power very good, but using hose very hard . Sucking is pooling back hose to contraction, almost need three hands.

Good deal but the battery life is poor and charge time is high (sister has this and complains about it ... I tested and agreed with her and she lives in a small 2 bed flat). I'd hold out for the V8 with a 40 min battery life, which is more acceptable.
I have a 2 bed house & it does me fine aslong as i Hoover daily it does the whole house

Seems a good price for the animal version but the "standard dc40" seems to be £200 anyway and I can't see any differences between them except one extra attachment?

The tools are different and the battery life may give you an extra two minutes lol, not worth the extra in my opinion.

Could not decided if I wanted the DC40 or Small Ball upright, Went for Small Ball total clean direct from Dyson via the phone with a free tool kit and extra Dyson owners discount. Currently on Currys website for £250 with no extra tool kit.
You can also get the V6 Total Clean for £229 with free tool kit or V6 animal with free tool kit for the same price as argos.
set up correctly, the V6 is always on charge so why worry about charging it for 3 hours before use?
vishy01234 to bartlett2907
12 Apr 171#48
Because if you have a medium to large property and battery runs out mid way, you're stuffed and have to wait around for 3.5 hrs to continue your clean.
Better to have twice battery life and shorter charge time. Truth is the V6 lacks the required improvements of the later V7 and V8 models. My advice - hold out for the better models. £200 is still a lot of money and it will probably only be half a year to a year before you start to see the better models drop in price. Battery and charge time is bad on the V6 - there's just no getting around this issue.

You actually get a 5 year parts warranty from Dyson, but John Lewis offer a 2 year guarantee rather than warranty, and are one of the best/easiest for returning anything faulty.

A bit off topic here but does anyone know why can't you "compare" vacuum cleaners in the same way you can compare anything else on Argos site? I can compare lighting ect but the button for compare isn't there for vacuum cleaners. A bit annoying :/

That's great but it's not the v6 Animal.
And they're still limiting it outside of the ~£400 bundles to one retailer. Not very good for competition.
This is still a good deal, but let's not pretend this model is much better than the vanilla v6, despite the price Dyson (usually) ask for it.
This is only available in the stupidly expensive 'absolute' model in the UK. Bobbins. Basically makes it a regular V6 with a couple of fairly useless attachments.
