Offering you additional variety and value in your handheld gaming options, the Nintendo 2DS is a streamlined version of the Nintendo 3DS that will play games available for the Nintendo 3DS, as well as the Nintendo DS in 2D.
The Nintendo 2DS retains many of the same hardware features as the Nintendo 3DS including the same Nintendo 3DS gameplay controls, backwards compatibility with the vast existing library of Nintendo DS games, as well as wireless connectivity giving you access to the Nintendo eShop with StreetPass and SpotPass functionality. However, the console takes on a new distinctive fixed, slate form design, and will play all packaged and download Nintendo 3DS games in 2D.
The new console is a great introduction for those unfamiliar with Nintendo, and it is also a fantastic new way to enjoy the handheld experience for those already a part of the DS family.
This version of the Nintendo 2DS comes in a black and blue design with a copy of Mario Kart 7 pre-installed.

Bought this as a diversion tool for my 5 year-old for our cross-country flight to Seattle. The 2DS was the choice over the 3 because I did not feel the need for 3d for my little one, and really didn't like the folding design of the 3ds.

I had this and upgraded to the 3DS purely to play SNES games, but the 2DS is amazing. It's so beautiful! Honestly, this is a steal as Mario Kart is still around £20 alone.

Indeed, I have a 3DS but never use the 3d. The 2DS is considered more comfortable as your hands fit entirely around it and the triggers. Its biggest disadvantage for me is it can't fold.

Thanks think I'll buy this and some Pokemon games. Used to love playing them so should be good getting back into them.
Pokemon Sun and Moon are still £24.95 on the Game Collection aswell .
Edit : Never mind delivery price for the 2ds is crazy. £14.01? Guessing it's because I live in Northern Ireland :/
I haven't looked since I posted that deal from Amazon. But at the time, they were all price matches of Tesco, too.

I got 3ds xl for me and my daughters. I agree that the 3d element isnt a big thing. My kids only ever play it in 2d. I play 3d but only like the 3d setting very low, otherwise it's not comfortable. But I personally prefer the folding design of the 3ds xl. Heat for the deal though.
I'm waiting for the price of the 2ds to drop even further into the 30s

Anyone know if the pre-installed copy of Mario kart gets registered to your Nintendo ID so I can play on my 3ds also? Or will I have to copy the game over to the other DS? I've been meaning to get Mario Kart, why not get a 2DS while I'm at it!

Neither, digital games are tied to the console itself.

I'm not sure what's going on with Amazon lately. Over the past few days there's been an influx of new account sign ups selling items really cheap.
Just take caution if you do risk it guys.

There's also someone selling for £3.86 with £4.30 delivery from the US on the white/red Super Mario bros 2 console. Normally if it's too good to be true, it is. And very little feedback tells me these are people creating new seller accounts/obtaining peoples old accounts to look like they have feedback and selling things cheap to make some quick money. I would pay a little more to know I will receive the item and not be ripped off.

I've been thinking of getting some sort of DS to play some of the exclusives. This might be the cheapest so far. I'm not too bothered about 3D.

Not 11.4 ;D
Mine was 11.1 from this (Mario Kart) pack.
Get this (or different 2DS bundle) for my sister which she can play with her friends online or locally, or an extra pair of Joycon controllers for her Switch (which will allow her to do local co-op with her friends and the rest of the family)?

I sold a like new 2ds with alot of good games for less on eBay. This is a bad deal, DS is dead in the water. Buy this and expect to loose half your purchase price immediately. On resale. So very dated.

I sold mine to get a 2nd hand (new style)3DS and not looked back. The 2DS is cool but inferior in many ways. The 3DS has so many improvements even if played in 2D. It has better quality screens and brightness levels. It has stereo speakers, can play Snes games, clam shell to protect it, 2nd analogue stick, faster processor too.
