Right I know this is going to be a wild goose chase for some but for those in the Birmingham area (Spring Hill Tesco) it might be worthwhile.
I saw a Tesco post for a 1TB for £15 on here and thought I'd check my Tesco. Obviously they didn't have it. I saw a 3TB hard drive marked as £71.14 and though well I need a hard drive and that is an okay price compared to Amazon / Ebuyer etc. I went to the till and it scanned as £50 (The Mac Version). I instantly asked the guy behind the counter for another. They brought down the wrong one (Normal Version) and that scanned as £53. I didn't want to push my luck so bought them and ran.
Anticipating some cold here as I know it won't help most but hopefully helps some of you in the Brum area.
Edit: Went in today and they have marked them reduced to clear with the prices I got them at. There was also 2TB ones at £48.

Wow if you can find one. All 5 of mine (3TB MAC) had WD REDs in them, so to get a 3TB RED for £23 would be one hell of a bargain.

I went in to Watford to ask if they had any with my receipt from Hayes and the SA said no but they'd now gone down to 23!

Firstly when I took the box to customer services, response was, 'this box should have not been outside!! wonder who put it out!!, I checked it couple days back for another customer and it's not in stock'. Then decided to go to stores and I followed her up to the store door, where she asked someone about it and found the item. Then when I asked her to confirm that price is £50 as per tag (showing the tag as aisle is close to the stores), she asked another staff member who came to the stores at that moment and I over heard, that person confirm that it was her that printed the labels two days back & its usually over £100 but now £50 and they got loads of them left. At paying for the item at the customer service till, she said something about it being the 'last' in stock. So it seems like they rather not sell the reduced items to the public, maybe they get it @ £0 once things don't move even at reduced price.

From what I understand they aren't allowed to buy on shift. So they sometimes put them aside for when their shift finishes.
Also it won't reduce to £0. But may go down some more. So they may leave them in stockroom waiting for it to hit the min price before they get shipped to another store or something.
Just ask for the manager next time. It's clearly not on and not good for the company either.

Hi, thanks for the good tips, I should do that next time. Last time there was a long queue behind me at the till and the cashier just tight-lipped starring at me (for the camp light) so I just gone home. I should do better.

I would advise anyone that finds such an item (and actually wants it) to ask for the manager. Have you ever been refused a full price item when the barcode is missing? For me they always find a way to sell me the full price item. The shenanigans only start when the item is on offer. I live very close to a Tesco Express, so pop in regularly and often hear the staff asking those reducing to put items aside before they hit the shelves.

Hi, he do have the item with barcode, but he could not sell it as no price show on the screen.
Maybe next time I ask (sincerely) to talk to Manager to learn about such policy when I have the time.
It happen to me last month, I saw a camp light lying around on a random shelf (I then checked camp items shelves and that was the only one I could find). The cashier at the till could not sell it to me as no price shown on the screen. I had prepared to pay full price but have to go home empty hand.

initially for the Mac when I went to the desk they said they couldn't do anything with it as there was no barcode. It was then that I said I'd go get the SEL and then they could find it. So I think you're right - without the code, even if they'd found the item they wouldn't have sold it to me. It's nuts.

Ohok. Ya only the labels were £48 for normal 2tb and £50 for 3tb Mac. Customer services did say it shows as no stock but the lady decided to go check in stores and came with one. Did over hear them saying they got many but she said something about being last one when paying for it.
It's very quick to format it to Windows using the wd quick formatter. Wonder if they got any more left by now.

I have no clue with strange Tesco policy.
The lovely staff found one (my passport ultra mac 1 TB) when I ask yesterday.
I would pay for it whatsoever but the staff could not sell it to me as he could not scan the price. He did show me what's on the till screen and then took it back to the store room.
Maybe at your case, they do have more at the store room but not selling to public.

Got the 3tb at 53 in Hayes, last two. Not marked as such and I actually went to buy the Mac version using the empty box and SEL but they couldn't find it in stock, so brought these out for me and said they were half price.

Test it before popping the case. And use the method I posted as it didn't leave any obvious indication case had been opened. That way you can pop it back in for warranty.
Also you might be lucky getting an older one. I've been reading posts and the earlier ones appear to have REDs. Later ones they started using green, then blues. And worse still some have USB interfaces rather then SATA.

Picked up a 2tb tonight at Tesco Handforth thanks to helpful chap. That's all they had out it was 2am so couldn't check stock. It was £48 and is an older model in a box like this :
Indeed good luck to a Mr Mahmud who took the photograph who has a few spare ones - possibly a Tesco customer.
I'll confirm what drive is in it later but google suggests a caviar green probably this one.
Fairly well reviewed and quiet and it's good price for any 2tb drive, but this is older tech circa 2012.
My box looks like to have been booted round the store a bit.

BTW if anyone else is planning to remove the video this is the best technique I found:
Most video's involve lots of fiddling around and will likely damage the case. Luckily stumbled upon this after trying those other techniques. Managed to open both in seconds. The second one without a visible sign it had been opened (the other one with some scratches due to following other videos).

And even better. Managed to grab 3 more from another Tescos I'd popped in to fill up. Once again only standard 2TB on shelf but asked them to check and they came back with one. Asked how many more they had and grabbed the other two aswell.
Hopefully these have the WD Red's in aswell. In which case 15 TB of WD RED storage for my NAS's for £250
Thanks again for posting OP. Was scratching around for the cheapest price on WD REDs, 3TB drives are currently ~£100 everywhere, so effectively half price.

Stumbled upon a couple of Wild Geese today
Stopped in Tesco's to grab some milk so thought I may as well check without much hope. Sure enough she came back from stock room with the 3TB Mac version. Said they had one more so grabbed that as well.
Opened one today and to answer my own question it had a WD RED  Fingers crossed the second is the same.
Thanks a lot OP, saved me £100 populating my NAS.

Yes, there is no such thing as a Mac HDD it's only they way that are formatted you should just be able to reformat to NTFS.
Alternatively create two partitions one formatted NTFS and the other NFS.
