Do you think upgrading from a gtx 1070 to a 1080ti would be worth it? even if its for 1440p gaming? tempted to get a ryzen alongside it too.

1080ti would have you 4k gaming in current titles. with decent quality settings ( not too high or insane) easily.

its overkill for 1440p gaming this Is purely designed for 4k gaming.

it's definitely not if 1440p 144hz gaming, considering it's more demanding than 4k 60fps gaming. if it could get closer to £600 it would be good power:price ratio since it has about 30% more power than the 1080

50% better performance, 200% the price of a 1070

Still got my MSI 980 in my current machine, it's been flawless. Even if MSI have been getting a bad rep for their lack of communication of late, I'm not sure I would even need to speak with them if their 1080 Ti is as good as the 980 has been.

nope depending on game and fps this card is perfect for 1440p

just to fry your brain consider 21:9 ultrawide. mine is 100hz and I can't say I notice much smoothness difference from the 144hz I used to have. try using 21:9 on your nice big monitor and sit a bit closer see what you think. won't be the same if there's no curve, gsync or 100hz, but could give you an idea of the nice cinematic display you get with ultrawides

Nah, I'm a competitive gamer, I hate ultra wide stuff. There is a massive difference between 100 and 144 hz, also.
