1500 watts should be ample for frying if you use it properly, i have a 1300 watt tower T14003 and it handles deep frying fine but you do have to ignore the temp setting on the dial and wait until the oil reaches 180c before adding your fish or whatever you are frying, with 4 bits of fish added the temperature drops to around 150c but soon climbs back up again

heat for price. I had one for a few months when I started living alone, cost me around 60£ I think.
its awkward to clean in the sink as the bowl is pretty big and heavy. I didn't use mine or keep mine long enough to see if I got any bubbling in the coating.
it did heat up well, but don't expect to deep fry anything in it as I found it doesn't get hot enough.
I returned mine in the end and got a portable camping stove with a few cans of gas from Halfords. nothings beats a proper flame.

Reviews on this are not great! Lots of pictures and comments about the aluminium coating bubbling and cracking!
