I've used this several times in the past and it adds amazing flavour to many many dishes.
This is a great price I'll pop down to Waitrose first thing in the morning and stock up!

Thanks sradmad, thought I would try this for a change. Bought a cheap bottle of wine for cooking the other night, but the wine was really too nice to cook with

We usually end up using the 'free' wine from Meal Deals (Waitrose and M&S mostly). Not a big wine drinker at all so it's less of a waste to put it in the pot than it is to pretend I like drinking it.

Thanks - and this is a great deal too, a good size and I'd definitely pick some up if I didn't still have some in reserve. I know it's not a popular opinion, but I never really 'got' wine. It just tastes sour to me (like most alcohol). So while I'm a little unhappy that it's ingrained enough in society that meals (like the Meal Deal) are expected to come with wine (or a much-lower-value non-alcoholic option), it's still a good deal if it can be repurposed.

Bought a bottle of the red last week. Absolutely horrible, better off putting it down the sink or using it as wallpaper stripper.

Will you let me know if its any good for stripping wallpaper

Hardly surprising - why would you drink a cooking wine described as 'lightly seasoned with salt'? It's to cook with - not to drink as it is.

If you wouldn't drink it then it's not good enough to go in your food.

Checked it out yesterday - a tiny plastic bottle, 99p each and no mention of "2 for the price of 1".

Was it one day only?
And as I pointed out, it was a rubbish offer anyway..

It was a standard Waitrose offer lasting for the same length of time as most of their offers. It was a genuine BOGOF offer unavailable anywhere else and of considerable use to those who cook. Sorry it didn't suit you but it did the rest of us.
