Kids asking for the new craze of wanting their bike to sound like a real life motorbike and don't want to fork out for a piece of plastic like this link for it to snap after 17 mins?
WELL...
Get them a can of cola / lemonade on the cheap, shove it in their back or front wheel (don't do both or you'll cause an earthquake) and they'll have fun for hours! (We did)
[Please note other brands are available, prices are subject to inflation, once stock is gone that's it & T&C may apply - Note we cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by your children having fun]
If you really want to save money, use one from the recyclable bin that the council will refuse to take anyway because it's the wrong type of plastic or metal.....
PS You can also use plastic bottles but a slightly different sound..

Remember the free things you'd get with Kellogg's cereals to put on your spokes?
Reflectors shaped like a cockerel and the little coloured balls that moved up and down the spokes as you rode making clacking noises, great memories!
I also remember we would stand on a can so it gripped on to our shoe and then walk around making cracking noises! Hahaha I was SOOO cool! Lol

And from a time before aluminium cans and plastic bottles, cardboard through the spokes. Pretty safe, and cleaned the spokes at the same time.

Poor Leah makes a very Freudian comment about "c0.ck and balls moving up and down" and no one notices? I swear the average IQ of HUKD members has plummeted

With the bikes around here you'd get more realistic results by trapping a wasp in a biscuit tin. Or if you're trying to stay cred a hornet in your Roughneck Transformers Lunchbox and Roughneck flask set - no, not a Bumble Bee - too obvious! Though this is where it's at:
There's nerd-bait for you.

As the poster correctly stated the photo shows it on the front wheel which is stupid as if it does lock the wheel you're gonna do an endo (sp?) and land on your head!! lawl
Be careful kids and only jam stuff in your back wheels :-)

Though I like the idea, surely if that can jams it's going to send your child straight over the handlebars? - looking at the photo I'd say there's quite a good chance of that happening.

You're right, best wrap the little darling in bubble wrap before doing this, on second thoughts maybe don't give them a bike at all it might be dangerous, actually might be best if they don't go outside at all. God forbid they might get an ouchy.

There is a safer alternative, back in the day we would use disposable plastic cups. Worst case scenario is that the cup would disintegrate without causing any real damage or wear to the tyre.

We used playing cards and a clothes peg on the back frame from the pedals to rear spindle, we didn't realise the issue that caused when you try to play Canasta!
