Make you right 100% and whether it's scratchy people trying to justify their scratchyness or whether their taste buds and quality radar ain't up to much so they genuinely believe that I don't know but I've never found a cheap ready made alternative that even comes close to takeaways.
Ditto again, I easily polish this 'meal for 2' off on my Jack's with bits on the side too.
Ok once more it's hard to disagree with you or would have been till about a month ago when I was still residing on the East London/West Essex frontier in Roding Valley but I now live way out in the sticks of rural Lincolnshire.
We have bought a gaff that quite literally sits by fields and all there is more fields as far as the eye can see. The nearest curry place of any note is around 10 miles away in Waddington and I did drive up there a couple of Fridays ago to try it out. Alas it was very average and rather greasy too and just to add insult to injury if you want it delivered he charges a quid a mile extra from 2 or 3 miles onwards I believe so not a chance in hell!
I realise I been spoilt by living in and around East London all my life, none more so than having had The Coriander at Buckhurst Hill Station as my regular for the last 15 years or so, when I wasnt over in Austria that is.
See now that I don't have the luxury of an abundance of decent or excellent curry houses on my doorstep I would argue Charlie Bigham offers me better value than I could ever have imagined, even just a few short weeks ago

I've seen a lot of people on here over the years saying how some £3 supermarket pizza or curry is better than a takeaway, but I've yet to actually try one that has been.
These £7 Charlie Bigham meals might be really close or almost equal to a typical Indian takeaway, but once you factor in something like an equally good quality garlic naan bread, you're looking at about £10 total for this meal (and no matter how much it says it's a meal for 2 this is just a meal for one realistically and about the same amount of rice an Indian would give for one person)
So you're paying £10 for a meal for one person to try and get the same quality as a takeaway, yet just buying this from a takeaway in the first place would cost about £10 as well. You're gaining nothing at all going down this route.

The prawn makhani is so good, but they don't seem to sell it anymore. The rest is fairly average, still better than the local takeaways here though, you side step the food poisioning part.

Agreed these are delicious ready meals. Always prefer to cook from scratch but these are great for a treat.

You can get them in Waitrose, Tesco and Sainsbury.
The Jalfrezi is 7 quid in Waitrose I believe and I think it's the same price in Tesco whilst Sainsburys charge a quid more for some reason.

Your 'partner' should try one of these then, I urge anyone to.
Granted it's not the cheapest ready made meal you're ever going to buy and far more expensive than these M&S offerings but you get what you pay for and this Jalfrezi really is the governor :stuck_out_tongue:

What? You need to change takeaways. These are so inauthentic. My partner describes them as curry for people who don't like curry!!

I think the best one by far is the Sainsburys Deli one, but the deal they were doing 2 x mains, 2x sides, and a Naan bread appear to have ended.

Well personal opinion I guess but as far as super market curries go M&S is well above the standard of others..
+ TBH the Indians around me in Hertfordshire are pretty rank and no where near the standard where I used to live in Southampton..
