Sub-£500 for the LG G6 seems like a pretty good price. It says delivery in 1-2 months, but that changes to May 17th - June 8th when you click through to the checkout.
£493.76 is the price including delivery to the UK if you use a fee free card to pay in Euros. The price might go up or down a small amount as the GBP to Euro exchange rate fluctuates.

Which Xiaomi is £50? So first you insult someone on a £100 Xiaomi thread, by suggesting they're unable to afford any better. Now instead of justifying your comments, you make a snide remark towards Xiaomi on a different thread. What baffles me is that here is a comment from you on a Xiaomi Redmi 4A thread, which seems like you were looking for advice on getting it as a replacement to your Z3 Compact with broken screen. The Redmi 4A is the cheapest of all current Xiaomi phones, but on the Redmi 4X thread you said "Just because you can only afford poverty spec chinese rubbish.. no need to take it out on other people" even though it's higher up and more expensive than the phone you were enquiring about.

Good price for a specc'd phone but the 1 month delivery estimate is a big big put off. I've had bad experiences with the date usually being toward the end of the estimate....

Not too much of an issue in my experience, Amazon don't take a penny until they've dispatched whatever it is you've bought.
If the phone comes up for less than this between now and Amazon IT dispatching, just cancel your order.

Not so much about the money. It's not knowing which of the 30+ days it will arrive on and making sure that you are home or arrangements with delivery....

or you could wait two months and the price would probably go down closer to £400. This is an incremental upgrade to the v20..

Oh my god, that the best price possible for the G6 by far in the next few months. It is not going to go to £400 for dreamers. Even the LG G5 didnt go there until this year. So you can forget that happening.

And S7 edge is no way comparable to this phone. They are way different from each other released as flagships in different years. Obviously will be cheaper. So cant really compare.

how does ordering a phone from an EU amazon work? do phones sometimes have differences between UK and EU countries? Presume you need to buy a UK plug?
matt101101 to dtj90
29 Apr 17#38
You'll need a UK plug (or an EU to UK adapter as a temporary fix), that's about it really.
It's still a SIM free, EU specification LG G6 and will work exactly the same as an LG G6 you'd buy from a UK store. It's not like importing a Chinese phone where there's stuff like paying VAT (or trying to avoid it...) and which 4G bands the phone supports to worry about.
As for actually buying from a foreign Amazon site, you can use the same account you use on Amazon UK. If you access the site using Google Chrome it can translate the pages for you so you can understand what everything says.

Thanks. interested in the Huawei Nova so was asking for that reason but hoping to find it less than 250 as it's expensive otherwise
matt101101
29 Apr 17#40
Have a look which of the Amazon EU sites are cheapest. It just takes a bit of time to go through DE, ES, FR and IT and then run the lowest price (which you have to get at the checkout as the prices sometimes change and you need to see what delivery costs) through XE.com and compare it to the lowest UK price you can find.
Bear in mind, you'll need to price in a UK charger any fees your bank/CC company may charge you if you're going to buy from another EU country. You'll only get the straight exchange rate price if you have something like a Halifax Clarity CC which doesn't charge fees.
As a starting point for you, the Nova is £280 SIM free in both Black and Gold from Carphone Warehouse in the UK.

thanks for that, great help.
last question- should I only use amazon or is it okay to use third party sellers on amazon?
matt101101
30 Apr 17#42
That's entirely down to your own appetite for risk.
Personally, I wouldn't buy a £250-300 phone from a 3rd party seller on Amazon, even highly rated seller on Amazon UK. However, I have bought low value stuff from 3rd party sellers on Amazon countless times and it almost always goes without a hitch.

I did, and received it on Monday. Haven't had a chance to play with it completely but initial looks are not great... It feels a bit thick and the screen not very smooth for some reason, it feels a bit sticky :disappointed:
It came in the normal Amazon parcel and surprisingly the LG packaging doesn't have any security seal., it simply is an open box... not very happy with that.
Not sure if I will keep it though...

Your statement is simply not true 'my friend'. Samsung will honour the two year warranty for a Samsung phone originally intended for the UK market (perhaps even the european market but I cannot confirm). I have sourced almost new Samsung refurb phones for my family and I for well over five years now. Purchased from Amazon warehouse, curry's fleabay, smartfone warehouse etc. Twice, phones have needed repair and on both occasions Samsung did not ask for proof of purchase. They even couriered them back and forth because I live 60 miles from a Samsung service centre. Excellent service. They calculate a guarantee expiry date from info contained the device serial number.
As contrast, the fleet has included two LG phones. The LG3 is still going strong after two years and Mrs topazz loves it but the LG4 got the boot loop after four months and LG's customer service was appalling. Non existent in fact. Got a refund and bought an open box S7 instead. Ace phone. That 'my friend' is why I am prepared to pay a little bit extra for a Samsung. I advise you get your facts right next time.
Incidentally, curry's fleabay have refurb/open box Samsung s7's for £334 and s7 edges for £384 last time I looked a few days ago. Come with their own 12 month gtee plus of course the remaining balance of Samsung's own 2 year gtee.

Thank you for your reply.
I have based my response based on what Samsung clearly specifies on the warranty terms and conditions and what they have confirmed for me on Samsung Support.
Yes, they are based on serial number and it is quite possible that someone selling a s7 on ebay may have a serial number corresponding to something that was manufactured a year back and hence you get only 1 year warranty based on serial number.
And in addition to that ebay as a platform is not secure like retailers such as Amazon or brick and mortar stores. You can find loads of phones that are stolen and eventually buyers report that the phone was blocked but they cant do anything about it after a few months.
So, even if you had a good experience from the items you purchased it still does not change the fact that Samsung wont provide 2 years warranty unless you have got a UK phone and with a VAT proof of purchase and preferably from a good retailer to avoid phone scams. Its as simple a fact as it is

I am simply stating that on both the occasions I have needed Samsung service, they have not asked for proof of purchase and I have not provided it. Lets just leave it there.

Isn't this for the stunted version? I'd rather get the enhanced, Korean version with dual-SIM, 64Gb, quad-DAC & also has 4G B20 support. They are £430 on eBay from a French-based seller. Not sure it's a risk worth taking though?
