However... Lenovo have a habit of not pushing out Android updates for their tablets. This highest you'll officially get with this is Lollipop. They usually ship with KitKat.

Got one for my son, the tablet is good for the price. It updated 3 times, 2 small and 1 large file it reassured me that lenovo do keep up to date with their products. Don't understand how you can complain about the fact it updates. Buy an iPad pay the premium and stop moaning about things that you obviously don't understand!

Returned within 24 hours. Terrible charging and screen freezing and glitching like hell. Also kept updating itself. Awful

Ordered this one, when it arrived the case did not fit, it's the same one as in your picture, which has the hole for the rear camera on the right not in the centre. I complained and they reckoned they only stocked the case that was sent out, after a bit of negotiation they refunded me £29.95 and told me to keep the case!

Well that lasted all of 2 mins! Anyone else had problems with dead areas of the touchscreen? An area in the top third of the screen doesn't respond. Swap out for another one or just get a refund?.....Hmmm

Not natively no.

But I was able to achieve a similar vibe on an Allcast App (my personal choice mind?, though others do also exist etc?) on an 'oldish' Chinese Doogee X5 Pro Phone same way? (via a Google Chromecast).

So, similar can be achieved of (sorts?) regardless?. :-)

Selling off possibly due to the Tab 4 being released in May. Check out the spec on the Plus models both 8" & 10" models head & shoulders better than this tab & the price is ment to be reasonable when released.

But that's not the point, the point is 3 years since the Hudl 2 was released, we are STILL paying premium prices for 1080p screens. It should be the norm. 3 years and we don't even get a 1080p screen on a tablet for £100? Not justification for it at all.

It was 8.3 inches which makes it larger than a phone. I also picked up a Hudl2, easter 3 years ago for £70 refurbished following a deal on here and its still going strong.

Ive been contemplating an upgrade for the past 6 months as Im looking for a 10 inch plus tablet to read PDF magazines so will need 1080P at a minimum. Shakeyy's spot on when questioning the price of this tablet. I purchased a Tab 2? off here last January as a present for £120 and that had a 1080P screen, albeit slightly flakey wifi.

So why is this viewed as a good deal? (It may be for the current market but historically its not and I'm accounting for the currency changes following the referendum). Rant Over

If I recall correctly, the HUDL2 was 8 inches. Making it little better than a decent mobile. This is 10.1 inches. That's a LOT more screen space and makes it a LOT more useful as an alternative to your mobile screen. So not really a good comparison.

The Hudl 2 which is years old cost £99 at the time, had a fantastic CPU/GPU for the price and a Full HD 1080p screen that still runs smoothly to this day. Why on Earth are Tablets more expensive for less spec?!
PAULTRD
21 Apr 17 #52
Very much depends on the content you are viewing and where you are viewing it from.
commenter14
21 Apr 17 1 #51
Completely untrue! You'll be inches away from the screen so of course you'll notice it. 720p looks crappy on a 10" tablet. Just go to PC World and compare, it's very obvious.

Also people pay for the HD Sky channels because they're 1080x1920 (albeit interpolated) as opposed to the Sky SD resolution of 544x576. Not really sure what you're getting at there? It's a huge difference. Sky SD looks like someone rubbed butter on the screen.
XxLeahxX

If it was with Argos and within 30 days they will refund you the difference

£100 for 1280x800 won't be a good deal for most users who would benefit from paying an extra 30-40 and getting 1920x1080. 1280x800 is OK for giving to kids but then there are much cheaper than £100.

Is this any good?

Also, can anyone tell me what the best Android tablet is at the moment. I'm loathed to buy an iPad but it seems that Android tablets don't seem to have the power that phones have these days. I'd ideally like a tablet version of the Samsung S6!
DonkeyKonk to JoYork
12 Apr 17 1 #12
There is not much choice really, the Google Pixel C is probably the best performance wise, but I think it's very pricy.

Personally one of the best is still the Z3 Compact Tablet, some three years after its release. Z4 is nice, big etc, but still very pricy.
Tequila to JoYork
12 Apr 17 2 #25
if you want tablet version of Samsung S6 or something with similar build quality you must pay iPad level price..look for Samsung Tab S2..there is 8 and 10 inch model and the 10 Inch can be bought for round £300ish brand new on eBay (£400ish retail price)..but you get top notch OLED screen just like Galaxy phones that no other tablet can even touch..but again that price is in iPad territory,so unless you really want android tablet and SD card slot, you might be better off buying an iPad..holds vale much longer and better investment without a doubt.but Tab S2 is very nice and the only android tablet I will ever consider, just because of that amazing OLED screen alone.

this Lenovo Tab 3 is not even close to the quality and performance of something like Samsung Tab S2 ..the screen is low resolution and budget LCD, it's much slower and weaker in general and the build quality is so budget and rough ugly plastic..no comparison whatsoever to either Samsung Tab S2 or any Apple iPad, but then this is just £100 so to each their own..

Yes, it can help, because getting full is of course one of the main problems. But it depends a lot on the apps, too. I find Facebook getting slugging on anything but very recent hardware, and the same applies to many games. Other apps still happily run on an old device, sometimes in an older version.
slayermatt
12 Apr 17 #31
I find a good factory nuking can do wonders with an older device. It really depends on what you use to how badly things go. I have a galaxy mini on gingerbread that's still absolutely fine for the basics (bar its obvious hardware limitations) whereas my Hudl 2 on lolipop chokes horribly at times. All depends on Lenovos implementation I feel.

I have a Z3 compact tablet, great tablet but 16GB just isn't enough storage for apps. I had it rooted before Marshmallow came out and was able to save apps to the memory card, but since Marshmallow i've been unable to root and only got 11GB free.

Yes, they do. It is called software aging, and it is certainly not magic. iPads may be worse in this respect, because they still get new features, but Androids have essentially the same problem because of updated apps.

Thanks but I don't know what it was on at the time (currently on 6), but I find hard coding the channel causes more problems overall than it solves, especially when I have homeplugs as an option.

Of course this may still be useful for Smeeble.

The main issue I'd say is security updates and app support.

I would avoid lenovo, from my experience with the lenovo tab 2 a10.
Poor build quality (audio, wifi drop out etc), and poor software support (they pretty much stopped giving updates to a capable device so that people would buy newer models).
not saying it will be the case with the lenovo tab 3, but since it has a lower resolution compared to its predecessor, not expecting much to change.
I prob would pay a bit more to get a sony or apple tablet. They're expensive, but they continue to give software support for a long time, so that your tablet doesn't become useless immediately

I had been waiting for the Argos one to drop down to 99 again for my son's birthday on sat. Ended up getting the full HD from Amazon for 130 (I know JL 2 yr warranty). He will be 9 and don't think he will really appreciate the HD so including the £10 voucher, costing me another £40...

There are a few around, but they are mostly FullHD. The Lenovo Tab 2 A10 is not bad, this one here is quite decent, and the Sony Z2 or Z4 are very good (but discontinued). The Samsung Galaxy Tab S is also quite nice, and more affordable.

Just to warn you, from my experience certain appliances such as the microwave can interfere with the wifi signal.

If you plan on using both simultaneously quite regularly you may want to opt for a solution which involves ethernet/homeplugs.
