Just checked my credit bill and noticed that I was not charged for the £10 top-up (1GB data). I'm considering in purchasing another phone.

Yes that was the case at the time of previous thread when the unlock code was around 10-15 quid. But now it is 1.99 and its working. I just purchased a phone on Monday and got it unlocked today.

Looks like it's worth the purchase.

I have unlocked two devices. The seller on eBay took about 36 hours to reply though.

Posted same deal a couple of months back, found out once it arrived it can ONLY be unlocked by o2 which is expensive and not worth it, don't bother using those cheap websites that give unlock codes, they will end up locking the phone permanently so i just use a giffgaff sim with it and btw the LG K4 on o2 website is a much better phone especially because the touch screen on this Lenovo sucks

Can anyone confirm that they have been able to unlock the handset using an Ebay purchased code?

I bought this to test an app I'm developing, just wanted to see it on a different device (I can't use the emulator in Android Studio). While the app works very well (just what I want), I can't say the same about the phone. Coming from an Elephone P8000 this seems laggy and just about works. Still, everything is OK, YouTube streams OK and everything works as it should. Just don't overload it with apps or be expecting major features.
One caveat, I thought by ordering the Classic PAYG Sim, it came with £10 credit. Unfortunately mine never came with anything, not that it matters much.

No if it's refresh they will unlock free, if it's a pay as you go they will only unlock after 12 Months of the sim being active and costs £15 so a con

That's actually the one I used, maybe mines just taking a little longer then. Thanks
You can indeed buy a code, but if you check the thread from last time this deal was posted the consensus seems to be that it cannot be unlocked except by o2 (after 12 months!)
Obviously can't be certain but it's probably not worth buying this phone unless you're happy using it on o2 or Giffgaff - apparently a Tesco mobile sim won't work even though they use o2.

I don't consider holding off being tight fisted. Let the first day mugs pay full price and subsidise the price drop I'll enjoy soon after launch.

I paid for an unlock code on eBay 2 days ago and haven't heard back, which one did you use if you don't mind sharing.
Thanks

I think they already do ... since I bought their S7 already. But being tight fisted, I never paid the Samsung asking price.
I suspect I will hang around for much lower price before buying the S8.

Which network are you running on it? Could you please attach a picture or a screenshot of your main screen showing the network?

And the marketing team at Samsung will love you. Remember the phone won't be exclusive to you. Millions will own it.

Apple's price fixing is well known.
I'll pick up the S8 once the price is settling down in a few months. I had played with it in the shop, really well crafted device. Every other phones look really dated next to it.

Except Samsung doesn't take away the earphone socket, also offers memory expansion and the price does actually go down shortly after release if not on release, unlike Apple's phones.

No - despite rumours for a couple of years that TalkTalk were going to O2, they are still on Vodafone as of yet.
